Mail Aways

I was just thinking, that wouldn't it be great if they did Tf points again on the back of cards, and that they produced mail aways like they used to?

No. I think I'll stick with standard retails, thank you. Anything you can't find in store can be obtained through eBay.

I wouldn't mind doing the mail aways myself. Some of the original G1s were awesome as mail aways like the Omnibots. It sure beats having to do clubs and exclusive offers in my opinion. And your not paying an arm and leg for the exclusives.

Other than having to cut up the boxes, I would definitely like to see the mail aways again. I remember getting Camshaft in the mail, and I thought that it was so cool, because you had to kind of work for it and then wait for it. I really got a sense of satisfaction from that.

Plus you could order regular figures like Mirage, Wheeljack and Ratchet.

It's like one of those buy 10 of whatever item or service and get one free punch/stamp cards, but with awesome toys.
Check out my sales thread, plenty of Generations, and Reveal the Shield figures for sale!!

aye, i agree with this. mail-aways (though they never worked here back then - international logistics was lame and expensive back in the 80's) would work wonders nowadays, and i see collectors buying more than one copies of TFs just to collect enough points for exclusives. this is much better than those darn BotCon sets.

though a suggestion would be to pack points as loose cardlets inside TF packaging (or cards) instead of being a cutout on the card itself, to avoid damaging cards and boxes.

MISB collectors are still...

Well, not smiled upon by the idea. They'd still have to Ebay or make a deal for the figures.

Personally, I'm playing Devbil's advocate here. I love the idea. But MISB is its own fanbase, and I'm not willing to alienate an entire group of fellow collectors just due to their collecting preferences.

Yeah that would be cool because you could get some really different type of items that were not avaliable otherwise.

:-? I still have dozens of points from G1. Didn't get to do the mail-away because I was only 4-6 then, but my parents still bought good toys.

I'm not sure about a mail-away now, since it's easy (but expensive) to buy online. I just wish I could use some of my dozens of G1 points.;

Despite the fact that this was the reason I never owned Reflector as a kid (my mom not wanting me to get used to the idea of my sending away for stuff), which still irks me, I have to grudgingly admit this wouldn't be a bad idea to see again.

I think it's a great idea, as long as there arent any restrictions as in "only available in certain countries".

And instead of having to cut up the box, maybe they could use some sort of paper in the packaging instead?
