Classics Grimlock
Should I have bought him? I saw him for £7.99 in Wilkinson's yesterday but to be honest he looked rubbish compared to the original G1 Grimlock so I left him on the shelf.
Please don't tell me he's super rare/sort after and worth loads!

I have him, he does have his flowes, like the shoulders not working the way Hasbro wanted it and his legs are rubbish compared to the rest of his body, his torso looks badass but his legs really need a rework.
I like him, but he could have been a lot better if they tryed a bit more.
I heared that he is sought after now.

Don't know about being worth loads but he is rare(ish). I believe he was shortpacked in America, only 1 per case of 8, but I'm not sure how things stand over here. In any case, he's not a bad figure, just has a couple of design flaws (namely his shoulders don't lock in place like they should). I have him and am more than happy with the figure.

he was shortpacked in the US but hes freely available on ebay, its an OK toy but it does have some bad points as mentioned, the legs and torso just dont suit each other, the top half is like the hulk and his legs look more suited to a ballet dancer, all tiptoes!! at the end of the day if you like the figure then for sure buy it.
I reckon that grimmers is to eclipsed by the very funky looking animation version.

I think he's worth it just for the dino mode.
As others have said, the bot-mode legs really needed a reworking as he has a sorta "high heel" thing going and bending his knees doesn't really do much to make him look like he's posing. Also, because of his feet, it's hard to get him to balance, especially with sword in hand.
The shoulders don't bother me too much really, it seems to me that they designed them so they can be posed much like real shoulders (being able to bending them forward or back), which might explain why they don't snap in like they probably should. His torso is great looking, it's just the legs that are bothersome.
But like I said, the dino mode is quite nice indeed, the head and tail are particularly nice I think.

I would keep Grimlock in dinosaur mode.
The robot mode is not so great and is not without flaws (as already mentioned).
I have two of them thanks to amazon.com and were bought at about $10 USD a pop. The package was not the best condition.

I keep all my Grimlocks in dino mode.
The assembly errors really hurt the figure. I don't mind the legs, but the shoulders really get in the way. Still, he really looks great .... although I still can't wait for the Animated Grimlock to come out.

I have never noticed any assembly errors in my Classics Grimlock. He's great. Even if you're not collecting the whole classics line, he's still good by himself.

No assembly problems with my classics grimmy either. He is a pretty cool figure that you should have picked up.

I'm amazed those errors aren't in your figures .... so those black shoulder flaps actually lock the arms in place for your guys?

He's not a bad figure.
Weren't there supposed to be an abundance of him made for the "Me Grimlock" thing that the Transformers Fan Club was going to be doing. You were supposed to be able to get a Classics Dinobot and then take pictures of him in different places from around the world and post them. I don't remember the whole story on it because I'm not a member of the fan club, but I believe there was a story reported about that earlier this year on this site.

He's a good figure, with a very nice paint scheme (the black wash works wonders on him, and Hasbro should do it more often). His dinosaur mode is what I keep him in, but that's more-so to keep BWX Megatron company than anything else.
He does however seem to be a figure that you either really like, or do not care all that much for.

Awesomesauce; Use it, you know you want to.

I love my Classics Grimlock. The shoulders on mine seem to work just fine, and I have found him to have decent albeit somewhat limited poseability. Limited mostly because his knees, while they do bend, are more for looks than anything else. He has tiny thighs. I display him in robot and dino mode, pausing to transform him every couple weeks. Until Animated Grimlock comes out, this guy gets my vote for best Grimlock figure.

Is it an assembly error, or just poor design? The shoulders on mine don't lock in place either.
But I still like him, he looks good next to my WSD and Alt Grimlocks. I don't regret the purchase in the least. I wouldn't pay more than $20 for him though.

I don't understand all the Classic Grimlock hate?
The toy has it's flaws but I still really like mine.

sorry to hate your Classics Grimlock.
just really dissaponted with him, I don't like the character of Jetfire,
I could careless about jets, but the toy was made so right, it is awesome.
Grimlock... T-rex is awesome, character is not bad,
bot mode is not bad either, toy should be pretty freakin good!

Hm. I think I like reading reviews better than listening to them.
I have to admit, I'm curious to see if Takara will fix some of the paint apps and assembly errors on Grimmy. If they do I might snatch it up again.

I think he is a P.O.S.
His transformation is horrible, and his bot mode looks like a robot got into an accident with a dinosaur...
In bot mode his legs are ridiculous, and his hands are worse.
In alternate mode, he looks OK from the chest up. Trouble are his thighs, that look totally out of place.
Technically the figure looks like he was 60% complete before they just rushed him.
I was extremely disappointed with him.

I like Grimlock, but I really wish they had just gone with his G1 transformation scheme(*gasp* for the Classics Line!).
He's not a terrible toy, but the upcoming Animated version looks like it might actually be closer to his G1 appearance, so you might want to have a go with that one. Assuming Animated is your cup of tea.

i like my Classics Grimlock, though it has it's flaws, namely poseability and the non-locking shoulders, though mine seems stiff enough that it manages to stay in place and not "flop" forward and backward.
regarding the Animated, i find that i like Animated's robot much, much better than the Classics version, though the Alt mode of the Classics SEVERELY beats up the Animated's version. i just dislike the idiotic t-rex head on Animated's.
