I do not know if we can compare MP with Alt/BT yet due to that there is only 4 or 5 in the MP line whereas there is 29 in the Alt/BT

Alternators, easily. They're frequently indistinguishable from model cars in alt mode, except that model cars usually don't have adjustable seats, steering wheels, tires, or suspension, and Alternators frequently do.
In robot mode, they have some of the most human articulation of any line, ever. Their transformation is just complex enough to be fun and to require the instructions the first time through. They're easily customizable. Honestly, the movie toys don't hold a candle to them.
Mind you, I like the movie toys, at least some of them. However, there's only one way in which they are superior to Alternators: they made a lot more money for Hasbro. That's about it.

I'll have to go with Alternators because of the figures have better plastic.

I think we can. It doesn't matter that are only a few MP figures versus so many Alt/BT. You can still compare the quality, design, level of articulation, detail, transformation difficulty, etc.

Personally the Alternators bore me. They're all the same. Don't get me wrong, they're incredibly well executed, and well made, but I only felt like I really needed one or two.
I prefer the movie line because there's more variety, deluxes are cheaper than Alternators, and I actually enjoy the automorph gimmick. You get a better variety of vehicles and transformations. As a line, I like it better.

We could call it a draw by saying that the best of the movie line is superior, the worst of the movie line is atrocious, whie alternators are of a consistently decent standard.
Nah, bugger it. Despite their many flaws, I vote movie line. A collection of the better movie toys is varied and interesting to look at, whereas collection pics of alternators make me yawn.
It's a tie on the horrendus mumber of repaints front though.

I think they both have their ups and downs depending on what peopple look for... if they don't like difficult transformations then alternators isn't their thing... also, to me you would want to be very careful with alts...
but for me... alternators is an easy win.

I prefer Alternators. The line had a consistent scale through out unlike the movie line where Leader Brawl and Deluxe Skorponok are the only ones in scale to the Autobots.

Gotta go with Alts.
I like my movie bots too, but Alts (along with MPs) are my fav by far.

For me, it's the Movie line.
I have five Alts, but every single Deluxe, Voyager and Leader Class figure released. (Minus repaints, remolds and Voy. Op/Meg)
So...yeah. Movie line all the way for me.
Alternators have their merits, but they're so frustrating to transform.
I have Tracks, great figure, but his hood and nose piece are so difficult to deal with that I haven't transformed him in close to six months.
Mirage was the easiest figure of the entire line and nicely detailed. Had they all been like him, I'd be all over them like white on rice.

I don't know if I can really pick one since both lines are hard to compare. Alternators took classic characters(mostly Autobots) and gave them current car models. I think it also was the 1st line truly aimed at the adult collector. The movie line, on the other hand, are considered toys, but are also advanced enough that they make for great collector's items without looking like a typical toy line. The movie line also took the Transformers aesthetic in a whole different direction.
I could see collectors getting tired of the Alternator line has time went on; it started to become a bit redunant, with the inevitable repaints, and too many of the car models used started to look too similar to each other. I really wish a Classics Alternators could be visited one of these days, where cars of the '50s are used and even WW II vehicles, including tanks and planes. Anyway, the Alternator line was consisently solid, but it peaked a few times(Smokescreen, Mirage, Wheeljack) and was good, but not as good, the rest of the time.
The Movie line is getting a bit tiresome with its myriad of repaints, but I have loved this line since my 1st figure, and I didn't even expect to collect any of these figures when I got back into the game. The complexity is largely less than the often times frustraing Alternators while still remaining a challenge, but the detail just can't be matched and many of the paint colors used were too dull.
In the end, I like Alternators more for its updating of my favorite characters while maintaing(and often enhancing) the G1 feel for display purposes, but the movie ine has been more fun to fiddle around with.

Alternators by far. I only have three (Shockblast, Ravage, Wheeljack) but they are superior to any movie figure I have.

- totally. If that's what Alternators had been, it'd've been a "must complete" line for me.
All those modern cars just bore me to pieces. I'd love to see a line that gives a good mix of modern and vintage autos, in addition to a good variety of different types of vehicles.

Alternators.
theyre an engineering masterpiece.
BUT the military vehicles and concept cars kick ass.
If they made a Camaro and Solstice alternator then all we'd need would be 1:24 scale tanks and jets.
