Re: New Stock Photos of Japanese Classics figures
I am diggin the new Megs, the others I could care less. However if they produce a cartoon acurate Astrotrain or a Thundercracker(doubtful) then I will definitly be getting those.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the forums am looking forward to discussing all things Transformers. I personally both love and hate these Takara Repaints, I love Megs and Optimus and hope to be getting them as I missed out on the US versions, but Bumblebee, Mirage and Starscream all just look like un imaginative knock offs to me.

Re: New Stock Photos of Japanese Classics figures
I have Starscream, Megatron and Bumblebee (don't like him with a white backside) on order.
The others just aren't good looking and intersting enough. Maybe I'll go for Mirage if the budget gets looser.
I'm interested in clearer pictures of Hot Rod, but currently I don't think I'll get him, he's the one Classic I already own.

I like Prime for some reason he looks better IMO.Starscream looks good minus the white in bot mode, but I will hold on before getting him as I'd like to have TC and SW also (wishful thinking maybe).

How hard would it have been for hasbro to do what takara did with these figures.

It was a nerf gun, IMO. I would have preferred this version though, which is why I'm thinking about ponying up the roughly $50 (including action hq's shipping) to get it.
Stormrider wrote:The US versions are better in my eyes. How can Japan do show accurate decos for these bodies if they were never included in animated fiction? Awnser that
Not sure what you are talking about.
Some people might have shown disain for the lack of show realism, when in truth, these updated forms tie in more in the Marvel comics (Grimlocks' profile is a prime example of this).
I kind of agree with the part where these molds may tie more into the Marvel comics than the cartoon, because (what I believe is) the fate of Powermaster Prime in the comics was briefly referenced in the Classic Prime's MTMTE bio in the last TFCC newsletter.
When it comes to US versions being better, though... In the case of Megatron, I've gotta disagree. I would have preferred a G1 deco Megatron over the US version. The only purpose in buying others, however, would simply be to pick up any that I somehow might of passed on to begin with. (Even then, I can pick up the Battle for Autobot City if I really wanted it that bad. But if I couldn't be bothered with picking it up when I saw it at Target and had the chance...)

My vote for the HOF goes to my favorite Transformer, Kup, to the Headmasters (who still need new figures that aren't just the characters without their master components) and to seibertron.com for for being the ultimate TF resource.

Re: New Stock Photos of Japanese Classics figures
Whew!!!
they all look absolutely spectacular!
The Japanese market always gets the better color schemes...why Hasbro won't apply some of their techniques???
I like Optimus Prime, Megatron, Mirage, Grimlock and Starcream for the enhanced body designs, chrome and strong color scheme.
except for Classics Bumblebee--- he looks kinda anemic and dead.

Megatron was based off of a nerf N-strike Maverick. The only major modification they did to the overall look is they added Megatron's trademark scope gun.ShGarland_1383 wrote:It was a nerf gun, IMO.

Re: New Stock Photos of Japanese Classics figures
And I for one, feel a great well of pride for having refused the horrid Megatorn that got tossed at us by Hasbro....It really felt to me like they were saying "Okay, you want a neon colored Megagun? Welll here you go!"
SO I will definitely be picking him up...if only they'd repained the tank version instead...
Grimlock on the other hand, is pure love both ways. I love the gritty feel of his US verion, but the chrome he had in Japan also tugs at my heartstrings...
And I think Japan could do Thundercracker at least. I mean his was a light blue..I don't see a problem with a dark blue color scheme instead.

I, too, would like to see a Takara release of Thundercracker, since I don't have $500 or so to buy him off or ebay.

Re: New Stock Photos of Japanese Classics figures
Well I for one have already preordered the Megatron the new colours are way better, why they didn't give him these colours in the first place is beyond me and since I already own the origional classic Megatron I think I will call him Galvatron when the new Megatron comes in. I dont really see much of a difference with the Prime figure so I probably wont be getting him by the way these figures are appearently schedulled for release sometime in March.

Like what has been said soooooo many times since the Classics line was released, Megatron had to be colored that way because on U.S. toy gun laws.

Re: New Stock Photos of Japanese Classics figures
I passed on Megs due to teh colour scheme, but I will pick this up if I see it.
I'm also gonna stop looking for a SS to go with the one I repainted into Skywarp. Come on FP, you know you want to import these, you brought in every other classic except the Magnus/Skywarp one. Bring in these two as well.
Just noticed, SS has a properly coloured face. YEY!!!

If he does, I'll import him, and just use my US Cliffjumper to make a custom.

No wonder... still gonna get this one when it's available.

I'd probably port this one too. Wouldn't die if I don't though, because I'm happy with the US version.
Rather get Thrust if Takara gets him. Not likely since it was a Botcon exclusive...just saying I'd rather pick that one up than a variant head Cliffjumper.

They have the better paint scheme. They'll look good beside the original release Classics. Very G1 color.
