Seekers: classics or mp

Postby robotrik » Sun May 04, 2008 5:19 pm

Hey guys

I know this has probably been asked before but i would like to know which seekers you preffer, the classics or the mp's.

i personaly own mp starscream (cartoon accurate colors) and when i got him i was conflicted about it, because it was realy hard for me to pick one since i didn't want to have 2 screamers.
lately i regained my interest in classic seekers and i'm thinking of getting them.

so which ones do you like more ?

I have a whole shelf of StarScreams and then some!

To be honest though, I got both. The MPs make for great display pieces while the Classics just make for great play :D

I wouldn't use any MP in regular activity, well Prime can hold his own but thats just about it.

If your only going for 1 though and don't plan on playing with it, go for the gold, get the MP, but if your gonna actualy use it, Classics.

Personally, I'd go with the Classics. Less fragile and more of a resemblance to the G1 cartoon look. Pricewise, I don't think there's much in it. For the price of a Classics Thundercracker, you could probably pick up MP Screamer and Skywarp, then wait for MP 'Cracker.

I had the Classics Starscream with Reprolabels for a more G1 accurate look and I thought it looked better than the MPs. But because the MPs were more detailed I gave them a try. And I found out that for me they're much better and ended up selling the Classics one and I don't miss it. I think the MPs are by far better and more show accurate IMO (of course you need to put back the rear wings and look from their front). Many people say they're hard to stand... I can't understand why, I have both Starscream and Skywarp and I put the rear wings all way behind and they stand up very well and can hardly fall. I don't have any problems with any MP and my favorite is Megatron MP-5 and I've already transformed it and didn't have problems.

So, for me it's MP for sure. MPs and G1s. All others I don't care that much, but that doesn't mean I don't like the Classics/Henkei, they're all excelent as well.

See one thing I hate about the MPs though(outside of the lack of hip articulation) is that the guns can only be mounted on the upper arms.

I like the idea of the guns being able to be used as riffles as well.

Classics can pull it off, but lets face it Robot Masters realy went the extra mile on the idea!

I would go with Classics. As long as you avoid the botcon ones, it's much cheaper!

Classics, It's easier and cheaper to obtain, more show accurate to the their G1 counterparts, and Hasbro said the mold is at the top of the list for exclusives.

If you can, get both.

I have Classics Screamer, Skywarp and Ramjet and they look great grouped together.

I picked up G1 MP SS last month and love it so much that I ordered MP Skywarp over the weekend and will be getting Thundercracker once that's released.

If you can't get both, I'd echo what others have said - MP for display, Classics for play.

Me too. I just display and transform them, so I prefer the MPs. The only way I play with them is by creating scenes, which I do mainly with the G1s. Because I can't buy everything I've decided to buy only G1s and MPs. But still I have Classics Ramjet, which looks awesome.

Personally, I prefer the classics so far, just because I have the full compliment of seekers. They just look soo good together. They have good playability and are pretty poseable. I have the US Starscream and Japanese colored SS, but I have yet to pick up Skywarp, which I will do eventually. They look nice, but I kinda want to tinker with my toys every so often.

Not only that, but now Hasbro will be releasing Acid Storm (I'll call him Rain Maker, one to many "Storms" already), and how they said that particular mold is up there for potential recolors. YEAAA!! More troops!!

i play with mp all the time hes fine
hes compleetly poseable, g1 accurate, he'll be appering in all hail megatron, he fits in scale with the autobot classics (jets are way bigger than cars) pricewise someone[sorry you] mentioned it would probly cost the same to get eather a full set of mp or classic seekers (unless they make a heinki vertion, which they problibly will)

anyway definatly go for the Masterpiece

I say put aside a little bit here and there. I don't have MP Skywarp yet, but I do plan to get him eventually. Ya also never know what Hasbro might do in the future. We could get him eventually here as well.

Good luck with your Classics seeker hunt. Especially finding the Botcon guys for good deals.

Since when do Transformers figures tend to get cheaper? The longer you wait the more expensive and harder to find they'll get :P .

Classics is as show-accurate as can be, so far. Especially the robot mode. Even the back view is quite good. The overall completeness of the robot design is amazing.

MP brings out a very realistic jet mode. With lots of details. But the robot design is quite a disappointment. Although, not all the way. The excellent abundance of articulation kinda saved the day.

the only thing thats not so good on mp ss is the dodgey tail fins
and to a lesser degree the folded up nose at the back, and err.. the 'collars' actualy yeah thats a few problerms
also when in jet mode you can see his arms folded underneth him :-?

If choosing between those two ranges, Classics simply because of Ramjet and the coneheads. Really dislike Classic Starscream. Worst Starscream ever, at least in my opinion.

If it had been up to me, Robotmasters Starscream would have been the Classics version. The RM seekers look cool alongside Ramjet.

Course if it had been up to me, all the Classics cars, Hot Rod, Prowl amd co would be Basics so they'd fit in with their G1 counterparts. That's just my opinion though.
