Nice collection there coolpop. Looks awesome! My faveorate Alternator mold is Mirage. He re-started my Alt's collection after I had already sold a whole collection of them minus Mirage lol. So needless to say, I love some Alt's Mirage.

Hehehe, coincidentally I DO have a set of BT (scattered over 3 pics, haven't done an updated group pic of this line yet, and I forgot to put Kiss Cassettes in the first group shot). Yes I have the same passion for the Binaltechs.

Here are the pics...

BT-01 to BT-16 with all variants, KP01-03, BTA01-03 & Atari x Autorooper

BT-17 & BT-18

BT-19, BT-20, BT-21 & BT-22 (check out my review of this figure http://www.seibertron.com/energonpub/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=39496&st=0&sk=t&sd=a&start=81)

Not sure how far and wide your collection spans, but I'm totally envious of your collection based the pics provided in this thread alone. Nice job, mate!

Thanks man. I do open/play with my BTs, but just not as much compared to the Alternators.

I have mixed feelings about Alternators or their Binaltech counterparts,I really like the ones that retain much of their G1 appearance in robot mode even if the alt mode isn't the same model of car but some of the others aren't that impressive in robot mode or the alt mode doesn't fit the character.
I think what restricts the line is the "sportscars only" concept which I suspect is much of the reason for the relative lack of Decepticons.
If the line had expanded to include other fully licensed vehicles such as fire trucks, ambulances, military vehicles, construction vehicles or whatever else I think it could have been even better.

I love Alt's/BT's but I do agree here. The lack of Cons is killin me. Granted, some of the MP's look hot posed up with Alt's BT's....but we could use some other breeds of vehicle-alt mode in the line. I't Would be sweet to see Inferno, Motormaster or Trailbreaker or something!

Considering they actually kept scale a factor with this line, it kinda made firetrucks and larger vehicle a bit prohibitive. How huge would a bot from a 1:24 firetruck become? I'm thinking a decent amount larger than RID Prime! How much would they have charged for something like that? Yeah, it sounds pretty cool in theory, but don't know how practical it woulda been...especially since the line wasn't overly successful as it was. Though I'm curious how it would have done had they tried it after the movie considering their prices and demand on the secondary market.

Weapon: Double-Barreled, Armor-Piercing Particle Beam Cann...
I feel that the line was a great example of what the companies can make when they aren't constrained by a TV series. It gave them a lot of leeway of how to make the figures. They also didn't need an actual gimmick like the previous lines. It fulfilled its role of celebrating the 20 year anniversary of Transformers and returned the franchise to it's roots.

The line gave a bunch of amazing figures that didn't need an attachment to activate a weapon or become add-on armor or go overboard on chrome and bright colors like the Beast lines. Instead it us robots that turned into real cars, and brought such nostalgic concepts such as chrome wheels and rubber tires. Binaltech was a step further and brought diecast metal back to the toys, proving that while a lost art, it's certainly not forgotten.

It also provided scale, not just with the entire toy line (which is pretty much a first for the franchise) but it also showed just how huge our G1 favorites would be in real life. And this was with the ones who turned into mid sized cars, a semi would be huge.

What brought the line to a sad end was probably what made it so great. With no show, what did the kids have to make them want the toys? The lack of attention made the cost of licensing too much to make the line profitable for Hasbro. What also hurt the line, on both sides of the Pacific, was a lack of Decepticons, while there's enough Autobots to fill a shelf or two. Granted this was because the actual car manufacturers didn't want too much association with villains, but the fact is this left the line with no Megatron. While both sides did end up with a Prime, or Convoy, to lead them the problem is that the evil leaders were convention exclusives and only a select few can fill this void.

So overall, this was great line. It had it's flaws, but it was truly one of the best lines in recent years. And who knows, while Binaltech and Alternators have wrapped up, there's always conventions and commemorative packs. Perhaps we'll see a 2-pack of Alt and Voyager movie Prime someday, or the sales from the live action movies might make them reconsider the line.

Weapon: Laser Scalpel
some very well written replies there.

I think they have their place, it's kind of like comparing WWE with UFC.
They are just very different and both have their plus and minus.

Perhaps they gave rise to the MP line, trying to focus on realism and toy/model for the adult collector.

I wasn't discouraged by the fact that the line lacked Decepticons. The Autobots made up most of the cars in the G1 line (1984-86), which most of the characters were based on. The Masterpiece line has helped fill in the Decepticon gap with the three seekers and Megatron.

The thing that disappointed me the most with the Alternator/Binaltech line was the wrong color/character association. Deadend being black with Sunstreaker's head, Trailbreaker getting axed and became Swindle, Ironhide getting axed and became Broadblast.

People like me, who don't like buying duplicate molds, get screwed here cos even the Bin/Alt Decepticons are mostly repaints of Autobots, except Rumble but I'm not buying him! They should have given us new molds of Stunticons *sigh*

The alternator line filled what I considered a HUGE void in this type of toy line in that they were LICENSED SCALE MODELS!!!

Im very disappointed that Hasbro/TakTomy didnt take advantage of the licenses acquired by GM (proven by the licensed by GM logo on just about everything movie related) to make alternator versions of the movie characters.. I really wanted a Camaro alt too, even if it was Yellow and called Bumblebee

I've owned 5 or 6 over time (all sold off now when downsizing) I thought they were great figures - some are a bit frustrating to transform, I recall Grimlock making me utter the most horrible things.

Overall though they are beautiful figures in my opinion, great poseability and great alt modes - they just didn't turn out to really be my hting, I'd rather have toys than models, and my swamp is only so big.

With the auto industry is taking a beating - perhaps Takara/Hasbro will get more licenses for making the cars. Come on Volkswagon Bumblebee! :D

I couldn't agree more! That was how I feel. Hasbro has the license to the GM cars in the movie, why no Alternators? What a wasted opportunity.

Alt/Binals represent some of the best designed TFs ever. They are engineering marvels almost on par with MP.

I can honestly say, too, that I like the idea of repaints with the Alt/Binal line. Real world cars have so many different colors and designs, that it is very appropriate to have repaints. Although I would say that the line could use a larger variety of head-sculpts - Dead End comes to mind...

I would say that Alt/Binal are much better than Classics/Universe because of their realism. Currently, the only other line with good realistic molds is the movie line. And I would almost say that Alt/Binals are also better than MPs, but that's due to the price.

I disagree. The Mirage/Hot Rod, Wheeljack and Prowl (after switching lower legs) modes are my favourites cos they're so poseable.
