This just confirms my belief that the Classic's line should be continued.

To this I say "Meh"
I am officially not worried about not being able to spend $300 on these few figures.

Yeah, me too. I said in another thread that they'd just re-paint existing molds. I said then, and someone else said here, that Thrust is likely to just be a re-paint of Starscream with Ramjet's head on him. We'll see, but I'd like to see a pic of Botcon Thrust as soon as possible.
For me, when I get around to kitbashing these two, I'm going to remove Ramjet's tail fins and turn them into canards on the bit that folds up similar to Starscream. Then, as someone else mentioned, the winglets shouldn't be too hard to remove carefully and reapply upward at a 90 degree angle.
Thrust is going to be a more interesting kitbash. I may have to cruise the 'ol googlweb for some molded fan housings for the wings. I could try to carve some myself, but I can just about guarantee I'll end up with two different sized housings

So much hate for Dirge.
I think the blue could have been a little darker, but pretty much what I expected.
I don't care, its better than anything I could have kitbashed myself, so I'm happy with him. Can't wait to get him into his display case.
I wonder though, what proprtion of the haters didn't, or couldn't, get the package?
Nevermind that, that quetion could make this thread a nasty replica of another one from a month or so back.

Bite your keyboard, man...don't start THAT up again.
I can totally see the powers that be being content with repainting the Starscream mold for the original three seekers (adding Thundercracker) and simply repainting the Ramjet mold for the other three seekers. Seems like the cheap way out, but the homage will be nice.
Crossing my fingers for a redesigned Thrust, but still thankful for a full seeker set.

Not having to kitbash three more seekers 1,000 times before you end up with one that doesn't look like poop: priceless.

LOL, was just an idle throught. It is not perfect, but then, how often do we get a perfect figure?
Will definately do the trick for me though. Plus I think once he is on the old shelf with his buddy seekers, he will fit right in.

As much as I want to finish off my seekers, I'm not going to dish out $300 bucks to do so.
I could really care less about dreadwing and Bugbite, too.
If I want Dirge and Thundercracker really bad, I think I'll paint a couple figures.
Couldn't say it much better.
And I've already gotten 2 extra Ramjets, and extra Starscream, and an extra Skywarp. Now all I need are supplies and the time to use them.

I must agree. I've read alot of hate for Dirge. I can't tell if people are relieved that he is not what was expected so they can feel less angry about the exclusivity of the set or what.
Personally I have no kitbashing skills what so ever. That being said I am very excited about this set. I completely expected Dirge to be a Ramjet repaint so this doesn't suprise me. I think the figure looks great and am looking forward to the rest. I am confident that there will be some effort into making Thrust resemble his G1 mold self. He's too much of a departure from the Screamer & Ramjet molds to simply be repainted.
I have a feeling that I will be glad I forked over the loot for the non-attendee package.

I don't understand how this Dirge is a bad figure since it pretty much looks spot on as a Classics version of Dirge. May not duplicate the wings 100% but not all of the classics are 100% representations.
I for one am excited to see the rest of the set.

I'm not surprised that Dirge is a repaint because this is a Botcon exclusive. To remold the figure would have eaten into profits especially since these are being produced in a limited quantity. I will be surprised if Thrust is a remold.

This may sound like bad sportsmanship, given I feel that's why you asked this, but I can't get the package and I am not fussed about him. I wouldn't, by any stretch, say I'm a hater. The robot mode looks excellent, but the plane mode doesn't really bother me (I prefer G1's Dirge's alt.mode).
So that's one entry for your stats!

No, not at all. I think maybe I phrased that badly. A better way to put this would be that I am curious whether an inability to obtain the figure might have caused some negative bias in some.
Basically, the question is, if this was $10 at walmart, would those negatives become positives?
I personally do not gauge the figure as a 75 dollar figure but as a 10 dollar one like the other classics. In which case, I think it holds its own.

I don't think anyone could really complain if it was literally $10.00! That would be £5.00 over here (though they'd charge £9.99, of course).
Partly the reason I'm not too bothered about him is because, after collecting the G1 Seekers, I'm not too bothered about any of the Classics seekers.
When pressed, though, I'd be honest and say the robot looks excellent, but I also don't rate him as a $75.00 toy.

Absolutley, imo, its not fair to rate him as a $75 toy. Hde is made from a $10 toy mold and should be judged as such.
Hence, I like him. As with the other classics, he is not completely accurate, but is a good homage and will fit in well with the rest of the seekers.

I can understand why people who can't get the package (for whatever reason) are upset he's not mass retail. He is, after all, a simple repaint. Of course, if Thrust is a retool then that will go some way to justifying the price. Of course, this happens a lot in toy collecting, especially with TF's. Sometimes, one can't obtain a figure one desperately wants. I've learnt that, living with Hasbro UK!
As a $10.00 figure, he's excellent, and encapsulates very well G1 Dirge (from the comics and cartoons).
Off the track a touch, but in that picture he looks devilishly shiny.
Are you getting him?

Absolutely. Though, I faxed my stuff in over 2 weeks ago and no response yet.
I had to get him to save myself money since I know that its only a metter of time till I caved anyway and paid twice this amount on ebay.
It always happens. Ultimately I can never let anything G1 go. So, they way I see, I didn't spend 300 bucks, I saved 600 next year lol.

To be fair, none of the classics seekers are brilliant...
