Not surprising. The G1 Soundwave toy has never been sold without at least one of its minions.

Optimus Prime was never sold without his trailer either...

Hence the recent reissue being priced as is instead of more.

I dont see how thats a fair price. The rerelease of Starscream was 50$ and both bots are around the same size so I dont see how 1 casette minion can be an additional 20$. This feels super overpriced to me. I really expected him to be 50$

50$ for Starscream? That must have been the price on sale because if I remember, Starscream was also 69.99$ at it's normal price.

This make the original 70$ price of the trailerless Optimus even more inexcusable. Seriously, there's not much difference in material between Lonetimus and a seeker.

At least Soundwave have Buzzsaw with him. But that's basically 20$ for a minion instead of 14$.

As usual, the "real" price will be the one on sale.

Yeah, the Soundwave w/ Laserbeak and Ravage reissue that was released in 2006 in the Classics line was $30, while the SDCC 2009/HTS exclusive Soundwave w/ Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ravage, and Ratbat reissue set was also $50 but offered much more and was even a limited convention/online exclusive.

By using this site: https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/ I see that it would be 38$ today. So, yeah, the price hike is still significant.

Pretty sure that's an '85 catalog. It's got Omega Supreme, the Dinobots, Tracks, Inferno, Blaster, and the coneheads, and it says "© 1985 Hasbro"

Soundwave: 17$ in 1985 is 40$ in 2019. Still cheaper than 50$ Soundwave will go for.

And for fun, Omega Supreme was 40$ in 1985. Meaning today, it would have been 95$. More expensive than a Supreme Class, but cheaper than a Titan. Interesting.

I wrote to them about a part for Transmetals Optimal Optimus because they didn't have it listed on the site. They wrote back and had one. Their communication and service is top notch.

I'm just happy to have the opportunity to buy some of these toys off the shelf again. The prices are a little more than I would like but for me it's still well worth it. I'm particularly excited to grab a Soundwave. That was one of my favorite toys as a kid and I've never owned any of the other re-issues.

Looks like Frenzy is back to using stickers for his tape side label detail instead of the Encore version's tampographs. I approve, because this is a case where stickers are actually more realistic because that label would be a sticker on a real tape!

After getting it in hand, I feel $35 is a bit much. Glad I never got it for $50. But I have to admit the figure brings me a lot of joy. Now just need a G1 trailer.

People have been waiting a long time for this news, but it's happening now. The Walmart exclusive reissue of Transformers G1 Soundwave has been found at Walmarts in the US. He comes with Buzzsaw and there are two other cassette two packs which include Frenzy and Lazerbeak as well as Rumble and Ravage.
Soundwave is $50 USD while the casette two packs are $20 USD each. Meaning the whole set would cost you $90 USD total. The images below come from Doug who posted them on Facebook and this set has been found in both Illinois and Wisconsin so far.

While Soundwave was also found in Canada recently, sightings have been rather sporadic and the cassettes were not found yet. The prices in Canada are $70 for Soundwave and $30 per cassette pack.

That looks glorious. But $90 seems steep. Especially considering I got that Hasbro Asia MP reissue not long ago got $160.

Price is in the same ballpark as the MSRP on Encore releases (from a decade ago or so) so no surprise in that regard. Looking forward to them getting around in more places! This line's carded product has been a rare instance of stuff I've kept sealed up. Having several versions of these cassettes already, the packaged presentation is a huge draw.

Jeez that really takes me back. It was the Frenzy pack but I couldn’t read I was bouncing off the walls because I had ‘Rumble’ from the cartoon.
