There is a painting contest at the local GW on the 17th. I have decided to work on a manticore with a bit of a conversion. It is a goblin with a definate Gork Complex (read as god complex) WHen a goblin is left in control of a tribe he starts acting bigger than he is....this is until an orc whacks him back into place.

The creature with the wings is the original figure. Unfortunately I don't have anything better that shows it as it originally was. The rider and other bits are not used.

So far what has gone on is the Manticore has been stripped and scrubbed in nail polish remover of all former glue, putty and primer. I am not sure what was all over this figure as it came that way second hand. I had tried to sell it on Ebay, but no luck However, I decided that I may use it after all.
The green stuff is epoxy putty (Kneedite). I got a strip of it that was 3 feet long. I used it and superglue to put parts together. Interestingly, superglue reacts to epoxy putty and it sticks to things like slag to a blanket.

Skip a bunch of pics and we get to the "final" sculp stage. The figure here is almost completely puttied as I would have it. On it we have a small goblin wolf rider, which his feet cut off sitting in a saddle of putty. This figure can come off the Manticore, which is why I made him fit carefully. He also has a "rope" that pins into the manticore mane.
The black primer takes the model and makes it look all once peice. The rider is tacked to the flying stand so I have something to hold while painting. The small monster base of the Manticore actually sits into the top of the 36 dice box. This makes a useful handle for painting the thing.

So far this is all I have painted on this creature. I have until the 17th so no big hurry. I plan to make a larger base to sit the thing into when it's not in use. Considering that it's a goblin riding a monsteorus creature, I will unlikely be able to use it as a model. Not unless I can use it as an orc on a wyvern or classify it as a gigantic spider.
I will post more pics as I get them.
Anyway...
