USA Today has pictures of the characters from the upcoming Wolverine movie.
I'm not really thrilled with Sabretooth at all. But everyone else looks alright. Liev Schreiber has been a terrible pick from the get go...
Deadpool's face doesn't seem scarred or disfigured at all. Maybe Logan has a hand...errr claw.. in that somewhere in the movie. Unless the holographic image device they're talking about is what he's using in that picture.
Still, I'm pretty excited for this. If anything just because I finally get to see Deadpool and Gambit in a live action movie.

That sounds about right. There could be a scene in the movie where his holographic disguise malfunctions, showing his disfigurement.

I'm not letting myself be to let down by that mainly because Ryan Reynolds is almost perfect for Deadpool. The only guy I'd choose over him would be Jeremy Piven.
Silverfox looks gorgeous though

There are a lot of guys who could play Deadpool, but Ryan Reynolds is a fantastic choice.

A couple of toys of the guy have been leaked online with the name Deadpool on the packaging. He's got arm blades and in one shot, eye beams.

Weapon XI is not Deadpool. Weapon XI is just one of the other test subjects.
In images from the movie, Weapon XI is closer to what in the comic books would be the character Mimic. He has Logan's Claws and Cyclops Optic Blasts, amongst his powers. None of which have ever been part of Deadpool
However, whether or not Reynolds will be scarred in the movie remains unconfirmed.
Reynolds is Wade Wilson hence Deadpool. his stunt double just happens to take on another job as Weapon XI.

Where exactly has it been debunked? All I've seen has been speculation

Me, Grimlock! wrote:I'm not an expert on Deadpool, but since this is an origin movie, maybe he gets scarred midway through? I seem to remember him entering the Weapon X program because he was scarred, but maybe this photo shows Wilson prior to being put in the program.
He entered Weapon X because he had terminal cancer, and being genetically altered with a healing factor (in an attempt to artificially reproduce Logan & Victor's abilities in a nonmutant) was supposed to kill the cancer.
It did not in fact destroy the cancer, but instead simply constantly heals the damage the cancer does, keeping Deadpool alive.
Unfortunately/fortunately, the artificial healing factor also keeps Deadpool's body in a constant state of physical mutation. As a result, Deadpool's face is hideously disfigured in a continuously changing manner but he also has slightly superhuman physical abilities - specifically agility - as a consequence.
Anyway, I'd assumed the pics of Reynolds were either from before the gene therapy or early in his therapy - maybe he gets his healing factor, gets his face mauled, and it heals back to be functional but not aesthetically pleasing. The hologram theory sounds reasonable too though.

Though I think his looks might be pulling from Exiles Morph, Chameleon, or even, given the lack of a mouth, the Super-Adaptoid.
Edit: Though it occurs to me that the wires, the pale skin, the red eyes, and the apparent ability to survive without ingesting material food might imply a particular infamous vampiric cyborg super-soldier antagonist from Wolverine's past, though I thought we'd already seen the character in another form.

In any case it would be a real screw up by the Movie producers if that that thing was Deadpool. I'm not a big fan of the character, but even I'd feel disappointed if he were Deadpool.
I'm still thinking he's a custom character created for the Movie, that maybe draws heavily from Exiles Mimic.
Oh, and yes please don't make him Omega Red either, he deserves another Wolverine movie for him to be featured correctly.

it has to be a Weapon IX or XI or something.
I don't think Marvel would change a character that drastically from it's comic counterpart.

Their theory on the dude with the claws etc is that it's Deadpool, he gets scarred, gets the ability to drain mutants powers etc.
Personally, I still think it's a manmade clone soldier thats been given several of the mutants powers.
It makes sense, they've tried to do it in the comics, and we see the Weapon X program gathering different mutants up and keeping em caged up.
So why not take samples of said mutants, and just genetically engineer soldiers with abilities to fit every situation.

That's what we've been discussing through the entire thread. If its a packaging error, or if its really going to be Deadpool or what.
I for one would be really disappointed if that thing is Deadpool. It really should not be Deadpool. Weapon XI is fine. Just one of the test subjects, that happens to have those powers as a result of Stryker's genetic Manipulation.
Ryan Reynolds, is Wade Wilson hence he has to be Deadpool. Its not like Deadpool can be a different entity to Wade Wilson.
Well at least that's the way I see it.

I've seen testshots where the packaging didn't match to the figure before, but there's been more than one of these popping up, the figure is in an early wave (out soon if not now), we've not seen any other movie-verse Deadpool figures ("Comic-Series" and deluxe don't count), and all the other pics of XOW figures I've seen have characters correctly packaged.

I mean, is that 'thing' the final form of what we would consider to be "Deadpool" in this movie, or rather the initial form, which is later concealed behind a mask of holographic imaging device? From the interview it sounds like that's the 'final' form, although Reynolds considers it to be his initial form, so I guess, he is both. Sort of.
And how can a guy without a mouth be the Merc with a Mouth? Telepathy? Deadpool streaming his banter straight into opponents' minds?
