About a year before I started collecting I held the Classics Devestator and Bumblebee in my hands at Walmart. I looked em over and put em back nothing thinking about it. I remember passing up bumblebee like 7 times. Then the movie came out and got me into it. ahhhhhh.

I have the RTS bumblebee and thats good enough for me, and I will eventually find Devy on Ebay once these mass waves from Hasbro stop for a bit.

I saw Dev at Walmart on clearance and thought he looked like garbage so I passed. I still think he looks like garbage, but I wish I would grabbed one or twenty to sell about now...and to have one for the off chance FP does an add-on that makes him not garbage.

My biggest regret was not taking better care of my G1 TFs when I was younger. Apart from a couple of Euro classics its pretty much junk, Sadly.

Ha ha, Scalpel and toaster bot should have instead been released as legends. I think he would have sold more like legends wheelie and gone as fast as they hit the shelves.

Selling my entire collection many, MANY years ago because I had become "too old for toys".

#-o

Keep in mind this was before the internet. I sold my entire collection in a box at a yard sale for 500 bucks. Now...(I kept my figures in excellent condition out of box but on a shelf)...I had single figures that would have went for 500 bucks alone.

Not impossible, just friggin' expensive. I should just start buying two of every FP release. They all seem to at least double in price within a year.

When I first went to Japan in 2003 I found an Overlord figure, boxed, in a department store that sold only new figures. Since God Ginrai, Ultra Magnus, Rodimus et. al were all being reissued around that time I assumed that Overlord was also a reissue and chose God Ginrai thinking I could get the less-interesting (to me) Overlord on my next paycheck.

Yeah, that was a big mistake.

Selling all the GN.1 and Series 1 Beast Wars figures for other stuff and then having to pay a small fortune to get them back and spending WAY too much money on Spawn figures, comics, and cards because I thought they would go up in value and now they just sit in storage bins.

Buying lots of C6\C7 G1s, instead of going for quality goods.
Buying anything that isn't G1

Armada Unicron is only a regret in hindsight, really - if I'd have known about the 2010 release, I'd have held out.

1) I didn't buy New Years Convoy. He was on preorder and they kept putting him off and I gave up and canceled my order. I don't regret it as much now since I got Music Label Convoy but I still regret it.
2) I sold my Squalktalk. I sold him for about $5 and now I can't find own for less than some outrageous amount. Had I known he was so valuable I would've never sold him.
3) I did not buy Orion Pax when he was decently priced and now he's too expensive!
4) I should have bought and kept in the package the Classic Jets including Universe Starscream, and Generations Thrust.

Buying a Fortress Maximus off E-bay. It's too big, Too expensive and not quite as awesome as I thought he would be.

Not owning MP Optimus Prime, I didn't even buy the 20th anniversary Prime figure when it was available in shops.

biggest collecting regret is collecting star wars anything, comics (instead of used trades), and autograph stuff. also regret selling my g1 mib fortress maximus. loved that toy he was the prize of the collection but the saying, "When I was a child, I spake as a child, I felt as a child, I thought as a child: now that I am become a man, I have put away childish things." at times keeps urging me completely stop collecting.

nevertheless, i learned over the years sometimes it is ok to keep a toy or two if it really makes you happy. one does not need to forget about ones childhood completely to become an adult, but accepting and rising up to the responsibilities of an adult shows imo growth and adulthood.

sometimes it is more important to what you got instead of just wanting more! :P

Probably buying some ROTF figures I thought were cool but ended up being terrible. ROTF Megatron, Dirge, Smokescreen, Swerve, etc. Missing out on the Classics lines with some of the major G1 characters.
I started collecting again in 2009 because of inspiration from a friend. Sadly, we are not friends anymore and I collect mostly to keep the memory of that friendship alive.

My only regret is not start collecting again when I first thought about collecting. The inner child in me would always walk by the toys section in any store that I went to just to see what kind of toys were out these days. I remember seeing a lot of the early Classics mold out (specifically Classics Prime and the Magnus/Sky Warp 2 pack) at Targets and Walmarts but I didn't collect yet so I never got them. Not until Hasbro put at DVD MP Prime and then the first movie molds came out did I jump back into it. By then those older figures were long gone and the prices for them now online are rediculous. It burns me up every time I see that 2 pack online going for stupid money and I can remember clear as day how many times I saw it in stores and walked right by it.

Same thing. Bought most of the toys after the first movie came out and then just stopped. Now Im shopping on Ebay and spending a lot of stuff I could have bought new (Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Seekers, Conehead, etc.) but didnt because I thought it was a waste of money at the time. Forgot how fun it was to look for them and have them displayed (do keep them behind a tinted glass case to minimize snide remarks from some friends)

Now I check the shelves every time I got to Walmart/Target to shop for everyday stuff and hit up TRU every couple of weeks.

They aren't too rediculous. I swiftly found a perfectly good Constructicon G1 Scavenger in great condition, no knock off, but only the figure (no drill, gun, or fist) for only $3.99. I know, I was as shocked as you may be right now, but the shipping was $4.99 so it was a total of $8.98. Unfair advantage

I regret being a star wars collector. I'm maybe 4 months into being a TF fan and I can't give my star wars stuff away. I have an entire room full of carded crap.

I open my TFs and store them in a glass display that makes them look a lot cooler. They actually look like collectinles and not just toys.

So you like collecting but are embarrased by it? It doesn't matter what anybody but you thinks. Just give them hell back for being closet ABBA fans (you know it and they know it. ) I am proud of my collection and don't give a rat's ass what any of my friends think about it. Get those figures out behind the wall of embarrassment and display them proudly.

I also have a butt load of Star Wars stuff before getting back into Transformers. I started when the POTF 2 line began and quit shortly after the Episode 2 line. One day I just said, how many Luke in X-wing gear figures does a person need? So I stopped cold turkey and now they are stored away in plastic bins while my TF display proudly.
