But anyway, I later got Armada Unicron for christmas, who I thought was awesome! The next day, I saw transformers armada again, but I saw Unicron on it. I then thought that if it had unicron in it, it could be cool. I watched the episode, and I was hooked. I later wactched the episodes before it, and then Energon came out (which I like), and then I discovered.... tfwiki. I read that site for years, and now... here I am!

well... my first encounter with transformers was the show Transformers Armada, and my first opinion was: This is dumb.

Re: What got you into Transformers?
I watched the cartoon when it was on tv in the mornings, and I had a VHS copy of G1 Volume Three- S.O.S. Dinobots. My parents followed that up with a few toys, my favorite being Optimus. I haven't kept up with anything post G1, but I'm working my way through everything slowly. Transformers will always be very near and dear to my heart.

Re: What got you into Transformers?
the original ads (G1) did it for me.
i was just sold on the whole concept as there was nothing like it at the time (gobots excluded
)
i couldnt even BUY the damn things in ireland at the time having to go to newry in northern ireland and even then when i was asking around about them the lad in the toy store tried to send me to an electrical shop !
only really wanted skywarp and jazz but EVERYTHING was sold out except a few gobots and a soundwave.
suffice to say i made the right choice there

the TV show didnt show up for ages. at first only being shown in five minute parts (yes you read that right, ONE episode split into five minute parts spread over a mon to fri week) and then only on cable.
i just loved the originality of the concept. i remember trying to imagine what cybertron would look like before i seen it and failing miserably when finally seeing the place.
TBH whats kept me though is probably the comic. simon furman did more to cement this in my blood than anything. the first comic i got was shooting star in the UK comic by budianski but when furman kicked in with in the national insterest and then target 2006 i was in love.
transformers is pretty much the first thing i took to myself (as opposed to inheriting the interest from my brother in terms of his comic book collection) and will always have a place in my heart because of that.

Re: What got you into Transformers?
G1 cartoon for me. Just absolutely frikin loved it. Thank god my friends had tonnes of TF's their parents bought them so that i had TF's to play with. My parents were pretty poor and i certainly didn't make an allowance to buy my own. I had a few but not many at all.
So the cartoon is what i had the most access too and very few of my own TF's to play with.
I remember taping the episode "call of the primitives" from season three on BETA (if you can believe that) and i watched the frikin tape everyday!! I even remember my big sister taking me to the theatre to watch the 86 movie. She cried when Optimus died.

My uncle had a VHS of the original first 3 parter episodes. After that I got mega into it. Over time I developed a collection. I'm sure my uncle now thinks "my god what have I created?" XDD My room is filled with transformers..though can't say its any different from him considering he collects models of tanks and such. x3 The apple didn't fall far from the tree. XD Though with me its with transformers not model kits.
We are so much more then mere machines, intelligent robots who think and feel. Yet, we have fell to greed and destruction by our own causes! From this moment I stand my own ground, on my own faction to achieve true unity!

Re: What got you into Transformers?
I was born in late 1981.. I remember watching the cartoon before the movie came out.. and I vaguely remember my mom getting me to the movie theater late (prime was already dying). Always was a big fan, but around 88-89 I got the movie on VHS and I watched it 3 times a day for at least year.. By this time i had a decent little toy collection too... Then around 93 the G2 toys and reruns started.... bought a bunch of G1's at thrift stores and flea markets.. Then I must've stole about 15 g2 toys from a department store when I was 12-13.. I wasnt a delinquent but I made a firm decision at 13 I was going to get the Combaticons one way or the other.. So my love for transformers has been a constant in my life.. Its really amazing that no matter how they package transformers. Kids always love it. and adults will always stay loyal to it .. And for those who complain about the Michael Bay movies, relax.. since I was 4 years old ive been trying to imagine what transformers would look like in real life.. Those movies at the least answered a life long question for me.

Re: What got you into Transformers?
I was never too much into the comic books because the story line was so different from the cartoons.. And Beast Wars was Huge mistake.. But Transformers was probably my first creative thinking experience in life.. and Im convinced I wouldnt be the person I am, or have the same outlook in life without the creative nudge transformers gave me at such a young age.. As far as toys for children, there's nothing that even came/comes close to being as fun or mentally exercising as transformers..

My dear gawd, he's almost more annoying than Pee-Wee Herman. I'm so glad I never had that on my TV. You have my sympathy, for having such a high pitched adult(?) male entertain you.

Beast Wars. I'm 15, and I never saw the original G1 until I was like 13 or 14. But, I did saw Beast Wars when I was kid. I loved that series. Really, really loved it. Every time I see it again, something inside of me cries of hapiness.

Well, my friend got me an Armada MiniCon set that started it, but I collected only a few from the whole Unicron Trilogy. I credit something else to making me a permanent fan:
The Movieverse.
Sorry if that's a problem, but it's true.

Please note: If you think I may be joking, I probably am.
