Hello everyone, I am just starting to collect again since the time I was kid. It's time to re-live my childhood now that I have disposable income.

So here is my question, what would you buy first out of the Encore Re-issues or Masterpiece series?

I understand that all tastes are different, but I would love to know just in the case that I am not looking at all the figures that are available. I also plan on starting to collect the Prime line when it comes out this winter,I will be buying Optimus when it hits the Hasbro store this Tuesday.

I have really been looking at Predaking and Blaster recently. The Reissue and the SDCC Reiusse respectively.

The Masterpiece versions are really nice, but limited in their appeal. If you're getting into collecting again off a sense of nostalgia, you might find that you want more than just those characters who have appeared in Masterpiece format.

I'd say that the Encore (or TRU/SDCC) reissues will remind you of what you had better than MPs, and will fit better with the near inevitable influx of newer toys that you're likely to end up buying.

It really depends on what you're looking for, but if G1 is your thing, I'd recommend the Classics or Generations line. There are both lines that mostly feature updated versions of G1 favorites; Wheeljack, Warpath, Tracks, Wreck-Garr, etc. Availability might be a problem for the older ones, but if you can still find them, they're great re-designs of old favorites.

They're also affordable too, as the line only produces deluxe figs.

But if you've got some extra cash, the MP line is also worth a look. These are what you might call the Rolls Royce of TF's, so to speak. High end with all the accessories the character was ever featured using in the G1 cartoons.

But if nostalgia is all you're after, then Craggy's suggestion of Encore figs is probably a better option.

The "kid in a candy store" complex, huh? That is awesome!

I guess it may depend on your preference to what you plan to do with your Transformers,too. If you are just going to admire them on your desk, then MP. But if you know you'll get the urge to wanna transform them and play with them every once in a while, then Encore.I have a little of both. I definitely play with my Encores way more than my MP toys. They are both great for me to have, though........... Oh, and Predaking is awesome...........

Thanks guys. I will probably go with the encore and generations series. I do like to transform and play around with them. Plus I like to have my nephews over and let them have the joy I had as a kid. Toys are for playing, but I may grab a masterpiece or two, like megatron or fine appreciation.

In other news I did pick up a few of the generations toy line. Dirge and jetties and they are a ton of fun.
