Nothing, 2012 is bullshit. If anything bad happens, my bet is on an alien invasion, seeing that hollywood is coming out of their asses with alien movies (which I love) and History chaqnnel and travel and all these other channels are busting out UFO shows too (which again I love) and I also heard that NASA was going to release somthing in 2012, so I think they're trying to get us ready. They say 2012 is the end because a Myan calander ended that day, what if they just went extinct before they finnished it? And since they finnished it I think the aliens visited them, and told that they would be back full force on december 2012, and they where trying to count down the days, until the invasion. It only makes sense in my mind, that thats what happened. I mean, no one can predict the end of the world, and people have found artifacts in Myan toombs, or pyramids or what ever, of UFO looking copper peices. I think they where sending them messages, and they are counting down to that faithful day. Like I said, no one can predict the end, but you have evidence when somthing tells you that its coming.

Neither the ancient Mayans or any extraterrestrial species would have any idea of what December 2012 was, since Mayans never used either the Gregorian or Julian calenders, or the Anno Domini system. December 2012 was figured out much, much later by people who weren't Mayans and had no idea what they're talking about because the Mayans never said the world would end.

OK...I've read through everyone's posts here and had a few really good laughs and some somber moments. But the fact remains, the Mayans never said the world was going to end. So there's nothing to worry about...

...unless the Cubs win the 2012 WOrld Series...then we should all panic... :-?

The thing about the Mayans they never bother mentioning, is that, sure that calandar ends on 2012, but there's also other mayan inscriptions found at other sites that continue onto dates like 4110, way past 2012.
but just because that particular calandar ends, the world will end too! forget all about any other mayan dates past that!

The world will go around like ever. Movies come and go. People die and will be born. Earthquakes and tornados will ocure and maybe some new discoveries will be made, but in the end... .

What will happen on "2012"? The individuals who cashed in on selling ridiculous conspiracy theories will say something like, "We just made up the date to fool the world elite, and it's really going to happen on 2022 according to [enter bulls--- argument here]."

You know, since that's how it's been happening for the past few centuries, (We didn't die in Y2K, why should we die in 2012) it seems likely 2013 will give us a new deadline for doomsday.

Considering 2012 is based on the poorly interpreted mythologies of a long-dead civilization, it seems like any idiot could poorly interpret another long-dead civilization's mythologies and pick us a new doomsday. (Which reminds me, any word on Ragnarok?) I mean, that's the only reason anyone knows Nostradamus.

Past few centuries? Try the entire history of the human race. People have been claiming doomsdays since we first found out about a tomorrow.

I'm curious as to what the next doomsday is. 2029/2036 for sure thanks to 99942 Apophis (an asteroid that'll pass by Earth very closely both years), but I'm guessing there will be a few dates between then and 2012.
