just wanting to know what collectors favorite optimus prime is.
and what one they dont like ?
its hard to say what one is my favorite one is but the one that really bugs me is the alternator optimus.
i like how he looks but cant transform him into a truck so it fits tight.

Of the OPs I own, my favourite is RotF Leader OP. The good level of resemblance to the on-screen character in both alt and robot mode, the transformation design, the articulation, they all far outweigh the criticisms I have of the figure. Now when I acquire one of the versions of Masterpiece OP, RotF Leader OP may take second place.

However, I love all the OPs I own. Energon OP, the various TFA OPs, Alternity Convoy, and the Classics/Henkei OP/Convoy. So my least favourite? I would have to say it's not one that I currently own, which would be Machine Wars OP. Talk about deviating from familiar features.

ya i dont have that Machine Wars optimus but do have the trailer for it.
master peace is one of my fav's but i was thinking ether the animated optimus or beastwars optimus optimal .
I collected transformers in the 80's when i was like 10 so you would think that G1 would be my favorite but i like the other 2.

But, to answer the question, it has to be in a few parts. Of all the OP toys I have owned, Masterpiece Prime is my favorite. In story, I will go with Optimus Primal from season 1 of Beast Wars with Fire Convoy from RiD a very close second and Powermaster Optimus Prime from the G1 comics. Of all the Primes I have seen online but never in person, Leo Convoy or Victory Leo look impressive.

My least favorite OP toy ironically is Powermaster Prime. The only reason I got him was because I like the comic character so much. But the toy is such a brick when he is combined (won't have him any other way). In cartoon/comics, I can't say I have a *least* favorite. Again, of all the Primes I have seen, Megazord Prime (aka Energon) has to be one of the blackest spots on the shiny TF armor.

If i was going to say the most impressive looking i would have to agree with you about Leo Convoy or Big Convoy. I dont have eather of them but i do think that they are sweet looking.

Yeah, this is the "General Discussion" board where non-Transformers discussions can be organized. This kind of discussion, as it deals with the Optimus Prime toys, could be placed in the TF Toys Forum. TF General Discussion would be okay too, I think.

I think combined forms is fair game. Energon OP is a combiner because it can combine with its vehicle drones, Wing Saber, and Omega Supreme and Omega Sentinel. Cybertron OP combines too.

I happen to like E OP because of its variety of combination options. I do like the drones, I also like the chunky appearance of OP. E OP stands out nicely from most other OPs, unlike Machine Wars OP which stands out maybe too much for my liking, hehe.

Never really liked Titanium (WW) Prime. The A/E/C is probably my favourite, followed by Beast Wars.

you know i got RID optimus and ultra magnus mint with instructions and weapons about 3 months ago for $50 and never put them together as Omega Prime yet.
maybe i should soon.
and energon optimus and omega supreme are sweet to. i have them on a shelf joined together becouse how kool they are.

My personal favorite Powermaster Optimus Prime because my late mother bought him for me.

My least favorite would be a tie between Machine Wars Optimus Prime and RoTF Voyager Class Optimus Prime.

Masterpiece. Awesome figure, great accessories, amazing articulation... just the perfect version of G1 Prime.

VERY close runner-up is RID Prime. Just an incredible figure all around. Super easy to get into pretty much every mode. Multiple unique modes (including the behemoth Omega Prime), great posability, and two great paint schemes.

Worst is Energon Prime. Lots of great ideas with laughable execution. The mouth (which isn't even show accurate), the colors, the lame helmet, his weird weight... I love that they basically made him a gestalt, but they could and should have done much better. Robot modes would have been nice for his limbs. I did like his trailer as the little base, but otherwise a pretty epic fail.

R.I.D Will forever be my Favorite, Though Energon is very high up in the list. He's got so many cool gimmicks going for him. And I love his combination with Wing Saber.
With Omega Supreme/Sentinel not so much, as he just ends up in a big humongous power suit with a tiny head. They needed to have given him a slightly larger head when combined with Omega.

I'll never understand why people think he's so bad just because he's a little deformed in his regular mode.

Anyway, the one I like least from the ones I own, is Animated Cybertronian Mode OP.


Armada is also very high up in my favorites list despite its brickyness in his Super Mode.

my least favorite would have to be the one from the classics box set where he comes with megs and a dvd

Okay, the Primes I own, in order (and not including any Legends or Spychangers):

1 - 20th OP Not only is it the quintessential Optimus Prime that everybody and his brother can recognize, it's a frelling tank (mine has been treated to much abuse by my hyperactive kitty without any visible damage), and it's got all the little touches that make it so durn good.

2 - Cybertron Optimus Prime. A nice, simple yet effective transform, a salute to Star Convoy, a fun to use trailer to attach for Powermaster Prime level firepower, etc etc etc, make this one of the best Primes in recent memory.

3 - RotF Leader Prime. Simply amazing especially when it comes to matching the nearly impossible to duplicate Movie look, it loses a couple of points, unfortunately, for the hardest OP transformation to date. There DOES come a point of diminishing returns, guys.

4 - Animated Voyager Prime. If for anything, for the amazing fact that they made the weird, stylized Animated look actually transform into a vehicle that does NOT look like a stylized robot lying down. Loses points for the watergun, and non-show accurate axe.

5 - RotF Voyager Prime (Robovision version). Another excellent figure, but its faux chest just doesn't look right, and the backpack also drops it some points. However, its cool 'smokestack guns' and the nice proportions and articulation kick it back up a nothch.

6 - 2007 Movie Leader Prime. While not as overly complex as his later version, it also does not have the sheer degree of accuracy to the source material that RotF has.

7 - 6" Titanium RID Prime. Without a doubt one of my two favorite Ti 6" figures (roughly tied with the War Within Seeker mold), its hollow 'cardboard box' calves still make me somewhat nervous.

8 - 2007 Movie FAB Prime. For what it is, it's pretty good, but the overall look of the figure (especially with the 'head box' made from the front fenders) just doesn't say "Optimus Prime" to me. A different head, and the orange / red paintjob, and it could be a totally different character.

Somewhere around here, or possibly between 8 and 7, is the line between a good figure and a bad one.

9 - 6" Titanium War Within Prime. Not as bad as many people say, it's just not that good, either. It's incredibly loose, falls apart at a touch, and just has poorly arranged diecast parts. On top of that, things like the fists are far too easily seen in vehicle mode.

10 - Deluxe Classics 2-pack Prime. Despite the decent robot mode (my biggest quibble there being the torso being a tad too long; the rotating upper torso can be solved by pulling the rear tab out), its vehicle mode is just inexcuseable. It doesn't look like a truck, it looks like a robot doing a little yoga and pretending to be a truck. Meh all around.


Note that while I do NOT own Classics Voyager Prime, I -DO- own Classics Voyager Ultra Magnus (and the City Commander armor). If I had Prime, then knowing what I know of Magnus, I'd probably put him somewhere between #4 and #5. Excellent articulation and proportion, good vehicle mode, and my only quibble is kibble - specifically the "shields" on the backs of the arms.

My favorite Optimus right now is the Music Label Optimus Prime and I don't even have an iPod! G1 is awesome as is but the new head, darker red and blue and tampographed shoulder symbols really make this figure superior to the standard reissue. The trailer looks like one of those portable stages that they have outside of statiums for sidebands or for sponsored spring break beach parties. I almost stuck it on eBay without the Optimus but I didn't think anybody would be interested in the iPod dock trailer alone!

Least favorite is supermode Armada Optimus Prime. A Gundam bunny head on a cinderblock? The self tranforming trailer turning into a base and than supermode legs sounded great in concept but (like so much else of Armada) failed in its execution.

The most overrated Optimus is Omega Prime. Come on people, he's just the Transformer version of SuperSaiyan Goku. It's bland, generic anime at its lamest.

Fav: ROTF OP. Near perfect bot and alt mode, and its got Peter Cullen's voice!

Least fave: Energon OP. Ugly little thing when not combined.

i will have to agree about RID Prime ( Omega Prime ) i just got him because i thought it was a good deal and i had to have it for my collection but not one of my favorites.
but dont think he is the worse one.

Here are all of my Optimus toys, with the favorite at the top, worst on bottom.

1. Classics Deluxe Optimus Prime (a great deluxe-sized rendition of the MP or G1 character)

2. Animated Voyager Optimus (totally great figure! Needs better axe, though. That's the only thing keeping him from #1)

3. Animated Deluxe Cybertronian mode Optimus (awesome figure, my first Animated toy, right up there with Ratchet and Voyager Megatron)

4. ROTF FAB Optimus Prime (two swords and a gun!)

5. Armada Deluxe Optimus (one of my first Armada figures, a classic in my eyes)

6. Movie Voyager Optimus (a great figure that I got for $11.00!)

7. Movie FAB Fire Blast Optimus Prime (a pretty neat figure, I have always regretted not getting the regular colored version. The Rodimus colors make it a plus!)

8. Animated Battle Begins Optimus (loses a lot of points for being an almost exact copy of Cybertronian mode)

9. ROTF Legends Optimus (cool figure, combines with Jetfire, who I don't have yet)

10. ROTF Burger King Optimus (a great fig, combines with an included Jetfire)

11. RID Spychanger Optimus (the only reason it is way down here is...it isn't the Leader!)

12. Animated Legends Optimus (an okay figure)

13. Movie Legends Nightwatch Optimus (somewhat lousy dude)

Note that this doesn't count my many, many Robot Heroes Optimus Primes or my Gravity Bot Optimus. Those are my Primes, from favorite to least.

Well, some people are rating all the Optimus Primes in there collections. Let's see I'll break mine down this way:

These are the ones I like enough to display. The rest (and majority) are in storage. Plus a small bucket of Legends, Spychangers, Micromasters and a G2 Gobot Optimus that were set up on my Brave Max for my nephew that day. And RotF Leader is awaiting a Jetfire upgrade to bookend a Movieverse display.

That's why these threads are so fun! I actually have to come up with a good reason why a particular one is my favorite.

dougie_prime, I actually love RiD Optimus. But I just like the core bot, the poseable blue headed and window chested non-Supermode, non-Omega Optimus Prime. I usually have him holding the cannon Armada Leader Optimus came with. The upgraded forms just detract from the awesomeness.
