Where's the rest of Project Hercules?

Do you love your new Hercules set? Can't get enough of FansProject's items? Upset that you bought a knock off when you thought you were getting an original? Use this forum to tell everyone your thoughts about unlicensed and knock off TF products.

Where's the rest of Project Hercules?

Postby robofreak » Fri Jun 10, 2011 12:46 am

Okay, so far we've seen Scavenger, Hook, Long Haul, and Scrapper. Where the heck is Mixmaster and Bonecrusher?

I just want to make sure the rest of this figure is made before I really consider the investment.

My fear right now is the TFclub not finishing this project and getting screwed partway through buying them.

The sole reason Im passing on this. Too much unknown info for a huge amount of cash. With that high price tag though I doubt it will sell out, least not super fast..

If they're well done, I suspect they will go quick once word gets out that they're good quality (assuming that they are.) Whether they do multiple runs or release them all again upon completion...I dunno. But if they're good, I don't want to be stuck messing around with aftermarket on these!

I've pre-ordered the first figure so far as well, my theory is that it's not much more than what FansProject wanted for their Warbot figure, and seeing how TFC Club is breaking it down into single figures over time, if for some reason the quality of this figure isn't what I hopped for, I don't have to order any more.

But like Kibble said, if I do like them and they are well done ... I don't want to be stuck with eBay as the only alternative. For me, it'd better to spend $90 on a gamble than spend $500 because I missed out on a sure thing.

There's an old HMW addage that would make sense here.

Soon :P

Though in all seriousness TFClub's quality has gone up drastically since their early days, so I'm confident that they'll see it through. If not then I'm sure this guy will still have a hefty price increase on the 2nd hand market so I can always sell it off at cost if the projects doesn't go to completion.

Well, they just got their first preorder up for Scavenger this week. And we've seen prototypes of four. So hopefully, yeah. Soon.

Hopefully, but we still don't have an indication of the final product. For the intent of building a Gestalt, we really should be able to see all the pieces and how they combine, even if they are just prototypes.

I've purchased a lot of 3rd party figures/add-ons lately, but none of them rely on other pieces to be complete except for Explorer/Munitioner; and we got to see what they looked like and were coming out at the same time. CrazyDevy pieces don't count, as you don't need all individual pieces to make your figure "whole".

We don't have that yet with Hercules, so it makes pre-ordering difficult (besides the price tag - possible final price for all figures). I'm as excited as most fans to see these figures, and eagerly await seeing all components. It would make sense (to me) to start preorders with view of the whole product you are selling.

Good indication, but same legs and arms are being used to complete Dev... Hercules.

Maybe before Exgraver is released, we'll see all the proper Constructicons combined. Maybe I should call them "Herculoids"?

Eh, it's good enough to get a good sense of what it'll look like. The only really iffy factor is that the greens will be different shades. But I think I can live with it.

Honestly, I'd rather they release these over the course of a year or two and make a quality product than rush things and making one of these guys half assed.

They had a picture of the completed combined form at the RK booth at Botcon.

"Different shades"? NOOOOOOOOO!!!

From what I've seen, I think it's safe to say that all figures will be approximately the same size. I had kinda hoped that they could release two packs and sell for $100/pack. Well, throw that hope out the Frank'n window.

I think it's a safe assumption that CD, FansProject, TFClub, etc are operating to market to a "limited mass retail". I mean, they aren't selling limited edition of 50 items, but they aren't (and probably couldn't) selling their products as widescale as Hasbro. So I wonder if they take into consideration some of these prices and the effect it will have on fans.

An idea which could help bring down the costs to manufacture, which might end up bringing down the retail cost, would be to follow suit with Takara/Hasbro. Take advantage of repaints, and get better contracts with the production companies. I'm sure there are more than a few people out there that would love to get a Yellow Hercules, but that into the contract to produce more figures and negotiate down the costs to do business. As just one example, FP got extra bang for their buck by reusing the basic molds for Explorer/Ammunitioner, and did a few adjustments for the Causality figures. That should've saved them some time and money. But the price for the Causality was almost the same as when i purchased Bruticus parts, but I didn't get all those nifty weapons and attachments. Trickle that down to your active purchasers!

I'm sure these "companies" don't have an extreme amount of spending capabilities, but it seems by now that they could better negotiate prices, and less expensive figures should sell to more people than what they are currently selling. There's already a fan-base for these "companies", take that into consideration that you can sell at least X amount of product, pack on another 500 to that and negotiate a cheaper price.

I like a lot of the products that 3rd parties release, but I'm unable to show my support (ie- purchase) for these new figures if they all come out between $50 - 100, and I believe a lot of the fans are in the same boat. You can even find posts on Seibertron from fans who can't afford just 1 $100, much less a line of figures at that price.

Is it really worth having a stock of figures you can't sell because it's cost-prohibited, or to sell out figures at more affordable prices?

*more of my mind than i anticipated on sharing*

Well, I think I'm going to bite the bullet and do it. I would still like to see some completed and in package images soon though.

I think Bonecrusher hates the fact that he hasn't been revealed yet.

I HATE that Bonecrusher hasn't been revealed yet......still, a pre-order is just that with BBTS, they are always late and as a result it can always get cancelled of the actual product turns out to be manure.

necr0blivion, I totally agree. There's too much of the more expensive stuff that I'd like, for what I can afford. Heck, depending on the day of the week or week of the month, I find Hasbro stuff expensive!

I think TFClub could (and should, if there's enough demand) definitely do a yellow, or orange version of these toys. There's a sick part of my mind that would actually like to have a composite version of Devastator for extra eye-searing fun, although I'm sure there are other folks who'd just like a G1.5/G2 version. It'd also probably be that these would come after the full green one came out, so we'd be able to get reviews of the completed beast.

The prices as they are now, I can't afford it. I just ordered half a dozen TFs last night, that were about the same price as one of these guys. It'll be nearly £500 when all's said and done. £300 would have been a lot, but I could have just about justified that. As it is, the price is too high for something I don't even know that I definitely want (because I haven't seen completed images of it, or any reviews) especially when there's so many other things vying for my cash.
assembling a Neo-G1/TF:TM cast. Please PM if you have (or know of) the following at a reasonable price: Classics or Henkei Astrotrain, Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, or 3rd Party iGear Ratchet and Ironhide.
Also looking for Universe Repugnus and Overbite, Frostbite and Longhorn and any Webdiver toys.
