I just found a dark Breakaway at Target last night and picked him up. I already got (and opened) the original release. Which one is rarer? I'm assuming the dark one because I've only ever seen one. Are there any other variants in ROTF that I need to watch out for?

Long time man...

the dark Breakaway is more rare. There is also a Sideways variation, again a dark version. The light version is more accurate to the film.

There is a Skids variant where his teeth are unpainted. You can see through his windshield in person to check and see which version you're holding. The unpainted ones seem to be moving towards phasing out since it's an error.

I think there's an Ironhide package variant too where the missile is either inserted or not.

I wasn't aware there were variants. Well, it's not like either one is going to be a valuable collector's item or anything, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Yea, with the exception of Breakaway, all the variants are crappy.

I see that you corrected your post from sideswipe to sideways, But i'm pretty sure in one of those recent batches of pictures of the ice cream truck there was in fact a darker sideswipe variant -

And yeh I have the unpainted teeth, kinda lame, was not aware, and just saw the darker breakaway last night and was kinda jealous.

Hey CP! How's it going?

I've been lurking for a while. I think I popped back up when Animated and Universe 2.0 came out. ;-)

I did end up with an unpainted-teeth Skids, but I just don't care enough to buy another one. Breakaway is just such a beautiful jet, I couldn't pass up the variant. It's very nice and looks notably different. I'll keep an eye out for Sideways, but I don't think I care enough.

the painted teeth skids, the darker breakaway and the darker sideways are running changes, others will be less prevelent in forth coming waves....

? Mine has one pink tooth and one silver tooth. Is that what it's supposed to have? I wasn't sure if the teeth were supposed to be two different colors or if it was just a sloppy paint job.
