Which Leader class?

Postby Bumbleboy2797 » Tue Dec 21, 2010 2:54 pm

I have just realised there are MANY Tranformers which need/could be released as a leader class, for next years DOTM line.

Megatron (Tanker truck)
Optimus prime
Sentinel Prime
The Fallen
Shockwave
Soundwave
Grindor/Blackout
Iron Hide (rumored)

But which will it be???

Well:

1 ) Megs is almost guaranteed

2 ) Optimus ditto.

3 ) Sentinel Prime? Are we sure that's who the face on the moon is, and not Alpha Trion?

4 ) The Fallen is dead. Kaput. No figure for him.

5 ) Shockwave is this movie's rumored new big bad, so he seems likely.

6 ) Soundwave as a Leadr Class? Based on the size of actual satellites, I'd say not likely, and horribly out of scale if so.

7 ) Grindor/Blackout : Didn't Grindor get killed in ROTF? If so, I put the odds of this one waaaaay down on the list.

8 ) Thesource that said Ironhide will get a Leader class is pretty much solid.

So IMHO:

Megatron, Prime, Soundwave, and Ironhide will be this movie's Leader Classes. However, Prime might simply be reissues of one of the variants of ROTF Prime, he's about as perfectly screen accurate as they can get.

Weapon: Reciprocating Laser Cannon
Sentinel/Vector Prime/Alpha Trion/Bumblebees grandfather doesn't look like a bot worthy of leader size, I think he'll be voyager.

Optimus will most likely be a reissue of the Rotf version, maybe in Supreme-sized package with a trailer.

Megs will most likely be a voyager.

Shockwave I take granted for Leader size.

The deluxe Soundwave came with a small Ravage rocket, and judging by the size of Ravage, movie Soundwave and a satellite should be... *logic circuits fry*

gigantic.

Judging from that scene in ROTF where Ravage passes by the wooden door during the search for Sam and Mikaela, he seems to be slightly smaller than the scale of his scout-class toy when compared to a deluxe BB--legends class, maybe? And judging from his size when launched from Soundwave's chest in satellite mode, Soundwave would have to be Supreme class to be somewhat in scale, or at least leader class not to look ridiculously out of scale.

But knowing Hasbro, the class/scale of a toy is directly related to the amount of time the character spends on screen, coupled by it's estimated popularity. In all likelihood, Soundy's gonna be a voyager...that is, IF he plays an even MORE significant role in DOTM. Ended up as a mere deluxe in ROTF.

As for Megs, we finally get a cool fig of him (saw a tiny thumbnail of his bot mode on some other site), and he's a VOYAGER?! And here I was, hoping for a worthy Megatron to pose against ROTF Prime. Hoping he's either really a Leader class, or he's getting a Leader Class along with the voyager.

PLEASE be a Leader Class, Rusty Truck Megs!!!!

But if my earlier theory about Soundwave holds true, it's probably gonna be a voyager for Megs. I mean, come on! Ironhide gets a leader class, but not Megs?

Sorry, rant complete.

Except that the satellite he attaches to in the movie(and is himself no larger than) is around the size of a Sedan. How do I know this? My wife is a USAF satellite operator as are several of her friends(including a captain who works in the very squadron that communication satellite would belong to) and I've seen those satellites in person. Sorry, Deluxe Soundwave is appropriately sized. Bay and company either don't know how large a USAF satellite IS or they messed up the scale between he and Ravage.

In my opinion,

I would like to see a leader class tanker truck megs the most. I REALLY like the truck mode and would be great against Optimus.

We don't need another Optimus, we already have a near perfect version, but he could be re-released with a trailer.

We don't know if Sentinel prime is even in the movie or even Rodimus Prime.

I don't really want a fallen, mainly because his alt jet mode that was the voyager, didn't really amaze me.

Shockwave is supposed to be the big bad guy in this so I imagine he will be a leader, but it depends on whether him or Megatron are chosen I guess.

I doubt they will make a soundwave (IN HIS ROTF VERSION)if he has a larger part in the next film which I hope he does, and he has a earth vehicle maybe, he would made.

I would really like to see Grindor/Blackout (Even though they are both dead it is likely another twin of them will be in DOTM)However he would be really large as we can see in ROTF when Optimus is hanging from him with his battle hooks.

As for Ironhide, We already have an in-scale voyager so its kind of pointless.

So I would like to see Megatron/Shockwave/Grindor.

My bet for DOTM Leader Class figures is:

Tank Truck Megatron, Shockwave, Autobot Firetruck & Sylverbolt.
Optimus and Starscream should be released again (maybe with new deco).

I suspect that the supposed Leader Class Ironhide is in fact for the Human Alliance sub toy-line.

Other wanted Leader Class figures like Blackout/Grindor, Fallen or Bonecrusher may be released in the future as
Movie Masterpieces. I don't think they will be part of the DOTM toy-line.

However, I would be very pleased if the Leader Class Starscream mold is reused to make Leader Class versions
of Thundercracker and Skywarp. In a invasion scenario (like the expected in DOTM), I wouldn't be surprise if they actually appear in the movie.

Well We'll Definitely get new versions of Prime and Megz
Starscream will be rereleased and probably repainted as other seekers
Soundwave will probably get a new alt mode so he'll be a voyager
Ironhide Might and thats a huge might get a leader class
Shockwave will most probably get a Leader class toy
The Fallen is dead and there isn't much demand for him as a Leader class toy so no
Sentinal maybe
Transform into a thing

Ironhide has already been confirmed to get a Leader Class toy. And if Shockwave's hype is right, he will as well. From the looks of it, Megatron is going to be a Voyager class. I wish Both he and Prime would be Supreme Class with detachable trailers. That would be total WIN.
