Unless, of course, you're ready to shell out for Masterpiece Megatron.
All that said, I think this guy bears mention in this thread:

Yes, he's sold as Cybertron Leader Galvatron. But those are Megatron colors. Of course, at this point he might cost you about as much as Masterpiece Megatron.

I think he'll be slightly bigger and beefier than Classics Prime, but he's a marvelous figure.
Except his features scream "Galvatron" rather than "Megatron". The crown, the knees, the squares on the abdomen—all distinctively Galvatron bits.
That's not to say he's bad; he's just not Megatron to me.

He's a goodie. I don't think they've gotten that expensive yet, have they? I think I got mine for around $60, but it was also loose and this was a couple years ago.

Too big & costly. I think he wants something to display with Classics, which also removes Cybertron Galvatron (Megatron) from the equation.

Probably; and...

"Classics" style Megatron who's not a gun? Tall order. There's SE-02 Megatron:

I think his robot mode looks pretty decent in pictures (and the alt form passable); but reviewers are not kind to him. He's also not much (if any) bigger than WFC Megatron.

Yes thank you!! I'm just glad I'm not the only one who feels the same about Cybertron/Galaxy Megatron (Galvatron). He truely does holds image as true Megatron. Get the Megatron that you feel is your must, but you gotta add this one to your gotta have list. He is a triple changer but his bot mode and dragster mode are the best...'nuff said!

Actually, even though Masterpiece is quite a big bigger than I want (and way out of my price range), Cybertron Galvatron wouldn't be too big (I do like some bad guys to be bigger than good guys; it makes them seem more menacing). I do think Galvatron looks really cool, but the robot mode just isn't quite G1-ish enough for me, mainly because of the lack of an arm cannon. I'm strongly considering Animated Leader Megatron right now. If I get him, I'll also try to swap some of his parts with the black coloured version so he'll have transparent purple parts instead of red, which will make him look more like his WFC design.

I do like some of the suggestions that Overcracker presented at the beginning of this thread. I would bet the New Takara/Tomy "classics" version will be the most cost effective AND awesome at the same time. That Botcon Megatron is tough to beat though.

His joints are kind of loose and I really hate the fact that he has no right hand. He does look decent in both modes though, I really like the tank mode. Too small to look imposing though. Looks like a 'young' Megatron or something.

Cybertron Galvatron's actually not much shorter than MP Megs, but a lot beefier. Well, I guess an inch and a half shorter or so, which can make a difference. He can sort of do a makeshift fusion cannon with his gun weapon, it can connect to a port on his forearm (sorry for the low-quality pic):

It's not quite the same, but passable for me.
Sounds like a good idea for Animated Leader Megatron. He might look a little out of place style-wise next to Classics, but he'll fit well enough. Great figure too.

Really? The rightmost one of these triplets?

No thanks.
Sure, it has a (ridiculously) huge menacing rocket. And it's big. But the mold just leaves me kind of…meh.
I get that this is a BotCon thing and thus likely to be a recolor of something; but having Megatron share a mold with a character other than Galvatron just doesn't seem appropriate to me. (And even sharing a mold with Galvatron isn't my preference. Galvatron has his own distinct visual cues.)
(Incidentally, Countdown's been warming the shelves at a nearby TRU for a few months now.)
