The normal chicken leg way, the lengthy setup looks like he's on stilts or something.

^ Agreed... his "chicken-leg" look is barely noticeable because of the size of his shin pieces. I actually think he looks good in my classics display (vs the rest of my ROTF display), & I'm pretty picky about such things. The extended look seems too long/stilty & doesn't seem to be the right proportions.
On a related note, I also like keeping his head in the low position, instead of completely extended up, for the exact same reasons. Just my $0.02.
