Who else likes mouthplates?

Why do I like them so much?...well, I really don't know.
Who else likes them? Why?

I keep re-reading this line, because when I do, I see this image of an old Optimus spitting out his dentures...

Na its ok here, Eradicator is talking bout how he likes toys with mouthplates because of Primal not having one.
To be honest I'm more of a fan of TF's that have a odd head design, like Movie Swindle, or BW Rampage.

true, having a robot with human characteristics makes them easier to relate to.

I understand why the movie and Beast Wars series went with open mouthplate's though, the need for expression outweighs the "cool" look of the mouthplate.
Only the movie failed with it's attempt to make a mouth to convey expressions. Beast Wars did a much better job with it.
I like the compromise that Cybertron Prime (and to an extent Movie Prime) had, he had no mouthplate, except in Supermode.
Adds another little playable gimmick to the actual figure too.

It really did show more emotion for the film.
Getting back to the toys, it would be nice if leader prime had this feature incorporated into the toy.

And in a side note it looks like one of the Animated Prime figures will have a moveable mouthplate!

One of the best things Dreamwave ever did was stick the faceplates back on Bumblebee and Brawn as battlemasks, such a cool and workable idea.
And yet Mutant heads aren't very popular, but that's essentially what they are...(yeah, I don't like 'em much either, but had they been used in the show, maybe I would have.)

Also, it hides ugly, crooked teeth, and keeps you from spitting on me when you talk!

But does anyone notice how every new series has less and less figures/characters with mouthplates? They were everywhere back in G1 and G2, and now looking at Energon and Cybertron, I hardly see any.

More emotion needed to be shown. Maybe it was too confusing for children of this day and age to try to figure out who was speaking

QFT.
And it keeps your breath hidden away, so you don't go killing people with the breath. It's like a "radioactive-bad-breath-shield in the mouth" ^^

Make that a win win win!
-I was going to say that too, but I thought, breath can still come through mask...hmmm.
