I like a guy who's not afraid to risk himself alongside his subordinates. That's a bunch of points in his favor.

Well I would say

Never Follow : Megatron Armada.
Always Follow : Hotshot Armada (That is when he took over when Optimus was destroyed by the Hydra Cannon).

I think ol' purple might have been the best leader in the continuum. Yes, most of his plans were assinine and comical, like trying to convert Rhinox into a Predacon, but when you get down to it, his scheme in "The Agenda" trilogy was brilliant and if we cross over into the BM era his ultimate plan for cybertron was brilliant as well, from a certain point of view. G1 Megs' problem was that his army was full of psychopaths and losers. BW Megatron just had the losers, but with a handful of G1 Decepticons there would have been no stopping him. Screw size differences, I'm just talking about fire- and manpower.

G1 Megatron suffered from a number of character flaws that are inherent in 80s cartoon villians, and villians in general, and as powerful as he himself was he reaped great advantage from his soldiers. BW Megatron doesn't have that kind of advantage, but with it I think he would be the omega in the lineage of Transformers leaders.

Anyway, just my opinion, and maybe not very well reasoned out, but I hate Optimus Prime, so there.

Dagon, i completely agree with you about G-1 Megatron, but the nostalgia of him and the fact that BW Megatron holds the g-1 in such high esteem, places him at the number 2 spot on my list..Beat Wars megatron is the best!!! but i love g-1 Optimus Prime.. so he's number one in my book.. whats funny is with the exception of Rodimus Prime, I'm pretty happy with most leaders, except beast machines Primal, he was dumb...too concept and not enough transformer..Sill i loved optimal optimus, because he was the big badass upgrade of the combo of primal and Optimus prime!!! so:

BW megatron no. 1 leader for Bad guys
Optimus Prime G-1 no. 1 leader for good Guys..

best overall favorite...g-1 Optimus Prime!!
