Giant Transforming robots, that kick @ss.

Plus, it was(for many, I assume), the first time death was directed towards a character that many children admired and saw as a hero. I think that it was the first time I realizes that a hero could die.

the toy line was the reason I originally got into it when I was 2, but I'd say the Dinobots were the reason I stayed in to it, at least until the first generation died out.

What got me into TF was the first cartoon. What I loved about the G1 cartoon was the fact that they were giant sentient robots that transform. The storylines were awesome and I loved the humor in the show. I have many reasons, but those are the main ones.

The whole concept of the toys. You had two toys in one. You had an action figure, then it changes to another toy. How kick ass is that. The cartoon (G1)was also very entertaining for me back then. Optimus was such an important role model for me while growing up.

I like it because of the story line and the guns they have and all other stuff.

The story line is good and simple - Autobots, Decepticons.

I liked Transformers because of G1. It had robots with real personalities and plus it didn't try to dumb down too much for the kiddies. It had some good stories in it.

Even though I was 13 when the whole thing started, I enjoyed watching such handsome robots fighting each other AND turning into recognizable vehicles and jets, too!

Transformers are also lovable and really funny, too. They're your friends on the TV, BTW.

For me it was everything that made it different from the usual toy lines.

The Autobots being painted as non military who took up arms against warriors instead of being equal warrior robots, the way the war was handled in Marvel's UK comic, the more realsitic world and mythos it created and the characterisation.

Also, the design style. I'm not a mech fan usually, and the "boxy" design is pretty much the only one I like usually.

I like BW for all the same reasons except design, RiD 'cos it's fun, and A/E/C for minicons and a few characters and designs.

Basically I like everything the show wasn't.

G1 also had the TF action. They had that sweet, sweet violence that cartoons nowadays try to avoid.

As a boy growing up in the 80's what else could be cooler than cars/vheciles/weapons and robots? Ones that turn into one another. By the time Transformers was on I was already watching stuff like Star Blazers, Voltron, G-Force, etc. So Transformers was a natural progression for me. I always liked the designs, tranformations, stories and the characters of the show (especially the decpticons). I never really had a chance to get that many of the toys as a kid but the ones I did I really liked. They were always interesting and appealed to me, as I have always been into science and tech stuff.

Now that Im older I can appreciate the toy designs more since I am in the engineering field. Plus the designs and attention to detail in the toys these days is much better. As an adult I still love the original G1 show and have it all on DVD. I got into beast wars and enjoyed that too, but more so for the stories than the bot designs or CG graphics.

That's almost siggable...

First I heard of TFs was that summer in Smith's when I ogled all these cool toys hanging on the wall. I picked Huffer, and he did a fine job of hooking me in. The toys were beautifully designed, and the Tech Specs on the boxes provided really good character definitions - often far more three-dimensional than the toons ever did - which also gave them added play value; when you played with your TFs, you could create character-driven stories in your head, it wasn't all about the abilities.

I can't think of any other toyline (excepting possibly GI Joe) that provides that much personality in a single product, before you even start delving into the extra material, like cartoons and comics.

These giant transforming robots don't just kick ass, they do it with personality, and that's why I love 'em.

Cool toys, love giant robots, and I like to delve in to the ideologies behind the Autobots and Decepticons, questions like how did the rebelion start (yay for the Megs stoplight!) & how power is divided between the council of elder and the curent prime fascinate me.

The premise was just too cool to resist... And there were so many blanks I could fill in with my own imagination, so many ways to tweak things to my liking! We all knew what happened, as the TV series showed it, but I had a wonderful time trying to come up with WHY.

Out of my terrible childhood, they were only good things I had and my best friends. And the only toys I was able to hide from my parents when they came in to throw away everything else so I'd grow up. Sad but true.

I got into them recently, and I love G1 the most, however my first interest in TF was about 5 years ago (or something) when I was nine. I saw Armarda on ITV on a Sunday morning and got interested. Then about 5 weeks later ITV took it off, but I got the Armarda game. So for 4.5 years I forgot all about them (i didn't really get into it).

I'd always been interested in robots and machines, mainly trains, tanks and planes and I saw G1 Astrotrain when my older sister was watching, and I thought "hey this is cool. Looks like that game i got. Transformers? interesting..." and now I'm hooked, and drawing TF all over my French books (well it beats working in them anywho). And they are really cool and entertaining. And they helped me get an A+ for the first time in art, so there is an added bonus.
