I didn’t buy him (and I buy a lot of Transformers) but I don’t hate him. I really like the FOC Ultra Magnus and I bought him. For me the mold looks like a running back or a dwarf from LOTR or anywhere. He looks stout and tough. Prime is exceptionally strong in most fiction, but he most often looks like a quarter back or like Aragorn or a warrior elf, not compact and stocky. The FOC Prime didn’t feel like the true essence of Prime. In fact, FOC Ultra Magnus doesn’t really feel like the true essence of UM. Very cool toys but not the best representations of their namesakes. I don’t mind reinventing a figure, but Prime and UM usually need to be tall, buff, and voyager. I'm not saying anyone shouldn't love him, its nice to see all the love he is getting, just explaining where some of the negative comments came from.

While I wouldn't say I hate FOC Prime, I just don't like his design. The whole "fist on wheels" thing doesn't work for me at all, and even playing through the game doesn't endear me to the design much.

WFC Prime has a more "elegant" alt mode, and looks more athletic and buff instead of stocky, which I believe another member mentioned.

Secondly, the size of him makes him hard to display with any of the other FOC figures--except Shockwave, I guess.

I don't hate him. However, I only have the Ultra Magnus version so far. What I have to say is that WFC Prime has a great vehicle mode, but not the best robot mode. FOC Prime on the other hand, has a fantastic robot mode but a lacking vehicle mode that brings back bad memories of the War Within characters. It's kind of a trade off because WFC Prime has that giant annoying piece of kibble on his back, but it brings the vehicle mode together and makes it look really good. FOC Prime has no kibble at all and has some good flexibility, but his vehicle mode just looks like a folded-up robot.

Well, what I mean is that usually the vehicle mode is more "convincing." With FOC Prime you have "anti-kibble," or parts solely meant for the robot on the exterior of the vehicle, like his hands and feet. The big piece on WFC Prime kind of forms a shell that hides all the joints and connectors of the robot in the vehicle mode, but FOC Prime really doesn't have that.

The phrase you're looking for is "robot kibble," for robot parts (such as hands) visible in altmodes.

i have my complaints about the toy but its far from hate. i love it.

lack of paint
if he was a bit bigger i would love him even more.

Really, that's the only reason I dislike him. If he was about a head taller I'd use him in my display. Right now he's off to the side in vehicle mode while the WFC design leads my Cybertronian Autobots.

I hate WFC's complex transformation and back kibble, but the scale is just about right.

I love the figure, which is why I bought the Ultra Magnus version too. The mold is much fun to play with

The figure may be small, but I love the array of articulation and he's a hell of a lot less hallow than Jazz and Starscream. You can position him any which way you want and not see a gaping hole somewhere (and he's stable, unlike Jazz, who is terribly top heavy). But I'm also a sucker for chest joints, so figures with that added touch tend to make me rather happy (yey for getting more dynamic poses!)
