Just occured to me the other day. He's one of the most popular characters, after all...

Hasbro Made a prototype of him as a NewBeatle, VW did not like the idea as one of their cars as a War Toy and did not give them the license.

Leave it to Dead Metal to have the word 'Pronz' in his signature.

Maybe the Movie changed VW's perception of BB. He was pretty heroic in the movie. Maybe Hasbro or TakTomy can try again.

Re: Why is there no Alt/Bin BB?
He's rumoured to be the next Masterpiece after Grimlock and Thundercracker, so if that turns out to be true a BinAlt would be a bit redundent.
That said I've got a 1:24 scale (according to the box anyway, I think it's a little bigger) diecast New Beetle that I picked up a while ago with the intention of turning it into a shell for either the Subaru or Mazda figure, must get around to that one day.

An MP Bumblebee would be awesome as the alt mode wasn't a dead on recreation of a Beetle so Takara would likely get round any licensing issues. The mold wouldn't take much retooling for Cliffjumper either, maybe they could be the first Masterpiece 2-pack?

The mold would need a lot of retooling to be Cliffjumper, seeing as he transformed into a squished Porsche.

I'd rather he fitted into the scale of the others - so a bin/alt would be best. It'd be stupid to have a 12inch BB standing with a 12inch OP.

seeing as Starscream was 2/3 the size of Prime, I wouldn't worry that a MP BB would be as tall as Prime. An Alt/BT would really be cool though.

Well, good luck with that. If they make one, hold on to your wallet.

There is more to it than that. VW said ok as long as if the figure does not have a gun but Hasbro would not comply. So, that is why there was no Alt/BT BB. In terms of a MP BB....that would be interesting if they would have to go to VW to get a license or make it look similar to VW Beetle but not 100% accurate.
