I know plenty of you guys have seen this, but why was it scrapped? Clearly it had something to do with the development of DOTM jetwing prime, even if it is just jetfire parts. Also, if you click the second image, Yuo'll see a repainted megatron that looks lightyears ahead of the first one.

Probably because the designs for DOTM caught up to them. This was being planned for the tail end of ROTF. My guess is the Release of the new Voyager mold for ROTF, and the up coming designs for DOTM which surely included the Jet-Wing Prime we are getting now were sufficient to make this redundant.

Besides, the Jetfire ... er.. jet-pack was just that. It had a battle emplacement mode, but no robot mode or actual vehicle mode, so it was just a big piece of unsightly kibble.

The new JetWing Prime takes the same idea, but makes it look cool, and of course it doesn't need a robot and vehicle mode since its just a back pack, not an actual character. Also Prime is the Leader Class Prime from ROTF so the set is miles ahead of the Voyager version.

Trust me the set wouldn't have been that good. The OP Voyager mold had its flaws, and the bulky back pack really had nothing to offer over the Leader Class figures.

I think it was scrapped because of the Battle Blades Prime mold, which made the 2007 Voyager Prime mold obsolete. I do hope that Hasbro ends up releasing a more movie accurate repaint of ROTF Voyager Megatron, though. I don't have the original, but I want the mold, and I'd rather have a movie accurate one (unless they repainted it in Galvatron colors, which could look pretty good too).

The silver voyager megatron was canceled along with it.
I think it was due to being such late releases. They got pushed back at least once, and the momentum if the movie was running thin, and hype for a new movie was starting. Neither versions of the characters would be in the new movie.
Optimus has a new, totally cumbersome, and inferior trailer attachment, and megatron got yet another new form.
They became yesterdays news.
I wish they released both of them.
