With all the CW Legends I have picked up. I wont be getting more so this is pretty much it. A nice bunch and it was fun because I never had the Legends Megatron or Optimus mold so this gave me the opportunity to now own them but as minibots

I have always been down on that AOE Leader Optimus mold because I dont think its a good TF toy, but daaaaamn can Takara make something look beautiful. This is most definitely 50$ well spent, the detail is astounding.










It is a really good try at replicating the CG model (which is impossible to turn into a transforming toy perfectly).



And I used the natural light to snap a pick of my favourite Grimlock using the AOE mold.



He looks less detailed all of a sudden.

There are 4 available at 18,360 Yen. While I did predict his availability at a later date, what I could not predict was the exchange rate which is only in favour of the Japanese right now. So while he is readily available online at only 20$ more than when he first came out (which is awesome compared to what he goes for on e-bay), the shipping aint gonna be cheap due to the exchange rate.

That's a good looking Movie/Season 3 crew there Billy. I like the way MP Rod fits in the scale.

On Tak Blurr's legs, did they paint it so the lighter color didn't settle into the cracks and panel lines, or are those just nice shadows on your photo. If they painted it that way, it's a really cool effect.

I am glad you spotted that since it is my favourite part of this figure's deco. Yes, they painted it lightly so that it would create a panel line effect. Which is really awesome since this figure has some of the best sculpting detail ever. And you know me, I will always encourage deco used to bring out sculpted detail (hence why Hasbro scores big points on their TR Scourge's vehicle mode).

Really nice touch.

My Takara purchases this year have been much less than last year with the only non MP Takara purchases being Thunderhoof, Computron and Blurr. I just could not resist those and there are no regrets. That Blurr is the most beautiful figure of the year so far (followed by Thunderhoof and Fracture).

I dont know if the new TR figure will work for a lost light crew. The problem is that we are getting a Hot Rod figure and not a Rodimus figure and Rodimus is taller, at least as big as Whirl and Brainstorm (right?). The stand in is deluxe classics Rodimus/Hotrod and I dont think the TR figure will be that much taller. So the MP Hot Rod might have to remain as the Lost Light Rodimus, just as he is remaining the main Rodimus of my season 3 crew. Since there are so few MP bots for season 3, his home is much better in a classics colelction right now under the guise of being rodimus (rather than Hot Rod, which is ironic).

Who are you using for Cyclonus? With Cyclonus and Whirl as voyagers, along with me using MP Hot Rod, Brainstorm ends up looking the right size next to them and magnus. Skids is kinda puny though.

CW Cyclonus, but I'm not happy with him. I'm not a fan of that mold and he just looks off to me. Yeah Skids, Chromedome and all the minicons look tiny compared to those brutes. But then again UM towers like a beast. I'm not too hung up on scale though. Cyclonus and Whirl are warriors so they seem right being much larger. Gen BS looks fits the bill perfectly, he's just large even for a Voyager. Being a space ship does help justify the size.

I'm ok with HR being a deluxe, I just wish he was all pointy like in the comic. Either way I'm excited to have a larger HR

I can play with distance and height displayed to make erryone look good together.
