Lately the Last stand of the Wreckers, and the G2 redux Botcon set have both been revisiting characters and colourschemes from toys I had as a kid. ( I was born in 1984, I grew up on the g1 videos, but aside from a few g1 toys i had like ultra magnus that were bought in yard sales etc, the transformers i mainly had were late g1/early g2.)
I had almost all of the Turbomaster Autobots and Predator Decepticons, aside from the leaders Skyquake and Thunderclash due to cost.
I felt inspired to repaint another Character from this era to fit allong side the G2 redux display next to clench, pyro and the rest.
This is my second ever repainted transformer and I learned a lot from the first. Spray primer cause cracks and blobs on the finished product that I wasnt happy with on the first custom I did, On this one i have painted on the primer. On my first custom I got rather frustrated by paint not being perfect on the first coat, and was using rather too much to get the coverage I desired from the finished piece, this created uneven areas with paint too think in some places. For this piece I have been more patient and built up multiple thin coats allong with some dry brushing to touch up details.
The pictures I am putting up are at a work in progress state, the purple is drying before I apply a third coat and I am running low on the Turquiose, which i will need to paint the weapon that goes in the gap at the front of the veicle mode.
The Character in question I have been working on is the Predator Stalker.
http://tfwiki.net/wiki/StalkerI have used a Universe Ultra class Countdown (Cybertron red alert mode) and a g1 junker stalker i obtained for less than £3 which I used for colour reference and parts.
Paints used are all games workshop citadel paints.
Choas black for primer.
Hawk Turquiose as the main body colour.
Warlock Purple as the secondary colour.
Scorpion Green and Dwarven Bronze for highlights.
So far I've replaced the head and modified the recess the head fits into when in veicle mode to allow for new head shape.
The figure was taken apart and coated with primer.
I reassembled the figure before painting, out of personal preference.
Currently it needs an extra coat of warlock purple, drybrushing on the turquiose and highlights.
I am very happy to receive advice on customising and repainting, as i stated this is only my second ever custom and I am still learning.
However quality wise be aware that I have not yet finished painting but it should be at a stage where the colour and intention should be apparant.
I am thinking of adding a satalite dish to reference the origonal accesories and 'garble' system mentioned in the bio.

Robot mode is not yet finised but to give you a quick idea of how it looks with the head swap.
