Work in Progress - Stalker.

Weapon: Turret Gun
Lately the Last stand of the Wreckers, and the G2 redux Botcon set have both been revisiting characters and colourschemes from toys I had as a kid. ( I was born in 1984, I grew up on the g1 videos, but aside from a few g1 toys i had like ultra magnus that were bought in yard sales etc, the transformers i mainly had were late g1/early g2.)

I had almost all of the Turbomaster Autobots and Predator Decepticons, aside from the leaders Skyquake and Thunderclash due to cost.

I felt inspired to repaint another Character from this era to fit allong side the G2 redux display next to clench, pyro and the rest.

This is my second ever repainted transformer and I learned a lot from the first. Spray primer cause cracks and blobs on the finished product that I wasnt happy with on the first custom I did, On this one i have painted on the primer. On my first custom I got rather frustrated by paint not being perfect on the first coat, and was using rather too much to get the coverage I desired from the finished piece, this created uneven areas with paint too think in some places. For this piece I have been more patient and built up multiple thin coats allong with some dry brushing to touch up details.

The pictures I am putting up are at a work in progress state, the purple is drying before I apply a third coat and I am running low on the Turquiose, which i will need to paint the weapon that goes in the gap at the front of the veicle mode.

The Character in question I have been working on is the Predator Stalker.

http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Stalker

I have used a Universe Ultra class Countdown (Cybertron red alert mode) and a g1 junker stalker i obtained for less than £3 which I used for colour reference and parts.

Paints used are all games workshop citadel paints.
Choas black for primer.
Hawk Turquiose as the main body colour.
Warlock Purple as the secondary colour.
Scorpion Green and Dwarven Bronze for highlights.

So far I've replaced the head and modified the recess the head fits into when in veicle mode to allow for new head shape.

The figure was taken apart and coated with primer.
I reassembled the figure before painting, out of personal preference.

Currently it needs an extra coat of warlock purple, drybrushing on the turquiose and highlights.

I am very happy to receive advice on customising and repainting, as i stated this is only my second ever custom and I am still learning.
However quality wise be aware that I have not yet finished painting but it should be at a stage where the colour and intention should be apparant.

I am thinking of adding a satalite dish to reference the origonal accesories and 'garble' system mentioned in the bio.

Robot mode is not yet finised but to give you a quick idea of how it looks with the head swap.

Would love to do the whole squad.

I have a skyquake project thats been on hiatus for a while as i need practice and certain tools before tackling properly. (Junker Skyquake, Animated Megatron and Blackbird scale model bashed together basically :P)

Currently figuring out which molds to repaint into which of the jets at the minute.
Considering Classics seeker mold for Talon. http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Talon
The Terradive rotf mold for Snare. http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Snare
Open to suggestions for Skydive (considering energon starscream. http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Skydive_%28Predator%29
Although it wouldnt fit in with the rest of the deluxe jets was thinkign of using RotF Mindwipe with a head swap for falcon. Would be a larger mold than the rest of the jets but he was supposed to be the leader, and its proving rather difficult to find a decent stealth fighter in the deluxe size.

As for turbomasters I was thinking of making Turbomaster flash as a simple repaint from the classics Prowl mold. And have ideas about Turbomaster Boss, from a heavily modified Lockdown, removing the spikes etc and replacing the chainsaw/hook front section with something resembling the origonal engine/rocket launcher.
Would be interested in opinions for a suitible mold to use for Rotorstorm.

Did you consider getting rid of the wheels for tracks?

Thought about replacing the wheels with tracks but as this was only my second ever custom, Im still on the learning curve and wanted to practice some more on paint techniques rather than throwing more things into the mix.

Well, for Boss, why not use a Generations Blurr instead? The mold closely matches the original and quite frankly only the hood and head would need to be reworked.

I was actually thinking about using a spare Cybertron Thundercracker for Snare, but I think you idea might actually be better than mine.

As for Rotorstorm, the upcoming Tomahawk figure would work well. The guns get stored in the same location, and the cockpit canopy even rest on the chest. The head just needs a little work.

Ah great suggestions thankyou, been meaning to get cracking with some of these but theres a bit of a transformers drought in the UK and I cant seem to find anything to work with at the minute.
Definatly going to try the Boss idea you suggested, I have the origonal figure to work from but generations havent turned up at all in the UK yet.

And I also thought of using a cybertron thundercracker for snare, but when i saw the terradive mold it just seemed to fit so much better. I have an idea for making a cybertron thundercraker into Hooligan though ( with a new cyberjet three point star style face.) And givn that the cyberjets moslty had one arm devoted to their 'gauntlet frame' weapon the large weapon on thundercracker wouldnt look out of place.
