I don't believe that the worm thing in the DOTM trailers is soundwave. I did earlier when the first teaser trailer came out as did some other people. With the new release of the pictures of Optimus and Sentinel Prime also came with a list of "do's and dont's" that are suppose to happen the movie.
One thing on the list is... "The scale on one of them is jawdropping" - "It will be 'what the Hell was that thing?"... so I figure this giant robot is the worm thing we see in the trailer. I don't think sound wave will be some giant worm robot thing although they seem to have similar tentacle arms. That thing is way bigger than Megatron or Prime and in the second movie Soundwave wasn't much bigger than a satellite. Also looking at Daytona TV spot again you kinda get a quick look at the worm thing's body and looks nothing like soundwave or anything I have seen before. I'm honestly thinking Bay might have made trypticon as this big worm thing. Which I hope he didn't do. Opinions?

There's commentary in the Empire Magazine article thread about how Bay (I think) states that one of 'them' is really BIG, like folks will be all 'Huh, where did that come from'.

I thought of the tentacled thing when I read that in the thread.

After viewing the teaser (several times :shock:

) i too started to think the tenticles were possibly soundwaves handywork, but i'm just going to reserve judgment for the showpiece itself in the summer.

Now i think someone made reference to this in another thread, but i'll recap.

Remember the scene where soundwave ejects ravage towards the earth. Soundwave was fraking huge compared to the ravage projectile. And ravage appeared about 1/5 bumblbees mass in the spinal cord extraction fight scene. Now i recognise ravage was probably half his earth size while in projectile mode, but i think you can see soundwave is still gonna be pretty big. Or they have fubar'ed up with the continuity #-o

Hmmm... there a small chance of it being rumble because he is famous for destroying the ground with pounding and that is the same thing that worm thing is doing in the movie. The tentacle flies up then comes swing back at the ground destroying it. Very good theory.

If they include a very large Autobot in the likes of Omega Supreme, and the tentacled thing goes up against it, it'll be a replay or Skorponok vs. Jetfire. (One gets shredded, the other gets taken out with one thump).

I do wonder if the tentacle thing is the big robot they are talking about or if its a different one like your suggesting. But I did like the way Jetfire killed Scorponok I thought it was funny. Jetfire was like 'you are annoying me' and one shot Scorponok lol.

At first I also believed it was Soundwave, and it could still be. We don't know how big those tentacles really are, how how many of them he has. He could have small ones to penetrate the satellite with, and bigger ones to bring utter destruction. My other guess is that it's actually a machine brought by Shockwave for ground assault.

I agree with that it could be a machine more than actually a transformer after getting a good look at its body. Guess it came to earth on that really big decepticon ship you see in the trailer.

Yeah, I'm thinking Soundwave caught the wrong end of the stick with his Deluxe class. I googled how big is a satellite and one said (obviously many different variations are out there) spy satellites can be roughly 30 meters long and 10 meters around. And here is alink of one on a big rig.

I'd say he's probably as big as Prime or a hair shorter at best. And Ravage was probably smaller being while transiting.

No dudes I know what the Worm thing is, it's Bay-verse Legion.
I also have proof for that theory, in the trailer we can see that Sam tries to protect Carly from the Tentacles.

Think about it, it makes perfect sense

True, but considering the hybridization of Earth & offworld alien modes, it could be some Kraken style animal-bot,or the 'token topping-off' of the big unicycle dude that Optimus kills in China at the intro of Rotf, whatever his name was.

Ok now I have new theory for what this worm thing is DOTM and it came from the latest Transformers Foundation #2 comic. I buy the comics on my ipod touch and on page 11 they show a worm thing (looks a lot like the one in the movie trailer) attacking the hatchlings that starscream was suppose to be protecting and megatron and shockwave attack it to save the hatchlings. During the attack Megatron called the worm thing a "monster" and shockwave called it a "beautiful creature." So im thinking they learned to control these worm things and use them for attacks.
