Not knowing a lot about the comic storyline on his character, I found this movie very engaging. The story was very in-depth and compelling. A lot of excitement, great stunt scenes and effects, good sense of humor in places. Mutants you see include
Emma Frost, Gambit, Cyclops, Quiksilver (amongst a host of imprisoned mutants), and Deadpool- who was done the most disservice I think. I won't spoil it, but it worked in the end. There are two scenes in the credits so stay till the end. I also mention a cameo by our favorite bald actor...who, sadly, you can tell required a lot of makeup to hide his advancing age.
All in all a VERY enjoyable time; a fun movie, one that I will be taking my wife to see in the next week or so. Give it a 9 out of 10.

Its kind of like Basic Instinct, but not in a good way...
Goddammit, now I can't unsee it.

Nothing changed, a good amount of the effects(namely the cgi claws) looked terribly fake. The scenes at the end weren't worth the time waiting for the credits to end.
Effects wise, it could have used another month or two of post-production.
Other than that, it was a fun movie by all means, had it's comedy, it's action. If it wasn't a comic book movie it would have been great. But it's kind of on par with the first X-men/Spider-man movies. Good, but not great.
If I had to give it a number, it would be a 6 or 7.

Anyway, I really liked the first X-Men, it's my favorite. I will be seeing this just to see the story lead up to that film...

We figured that was one of the pieces of misinformation he warned us about just after the Super Bowl trailer. Of course, all we had to go on was a hand and a leg.

Overall though I enjoyed the movie, it ties in well to the X-Men movies.
But as a Deadpool fan, disappointed. I got the Wolverine in the bar ending, but even the Deadpool one (which is on YouTube) was disappointing, it would have been nice to see him put his head back on, his mouth open up, and he come to the realisation that he doesn't have the eye beams anymore, and some how, put on the mask.
But sadly all we got was a crawling hand. Definitely not enough to set up his own movie.

DP does not have laser eyes, retractable swords, or the innate ability to teleport.
The blob was never part of weapon X, and Agent Zero is never reffered to as Maverick. I don't even think I heard them mention Silver Sable either. Also we see Prof X standing... wtf?
Plot aside the CGI (mentioned before by another poster) was also below par for a movie with this much hype.

I was a bit shocked at how ordinary the effects were, for such a big budget film, one would think that they could have hired reputable digital firms to make decent looking scenes...
Burn wrote:But sadly all we got was a crawling hand. Definitely not enough to set up his own movie.
Will have to search for that one, I only got the Wolverine at the bar post credit sequence.
Perhaps the Deadpool movie will run concurrently with the Wolverine film? It'd be redundant since you know how he ends up, but seeing as to how he was the one chosen/manipulated to be weapon XI could be interesting. Why they didnt just use a clone with all the mutant DNA in it rather than a beefed up Deadpool, I do not know. We barely got to see him in the beginning of the film, so him being the big bad was not shocking or surprising. Could have been anyone.

It was a good popcorn flick, managed to make a coherent and acceptable backstory for movie Wolverine. Not a bad effort considering how convoluted and contradictory his history has been in the comics.
I wasnt enthused about all the cameo roles (Gambit, Deadpool, Blob etc), they were under-done, and not really needed, plus they found a way to make me keep disliking Cyclops, but the main three leads (Wolverine, Sabretooth and Stryker) were all very well performed, Liev Schreiber was my pick of the three, glad he got to play Sabretooth rather than Stryker.

I was honestly surprised how much I liked the movie. I'm very hard to please when it comes to solo Wolverine stories. Yes, I have the same concerns with everyone (ie, the CGI work) but overall, I had fun watching the movie.I liked how they seemingly covered their tracks with continuity like Logan and Scott never being around each other for more than 10 seconds. And I like how they mindwiped Logan, that was pretty cool. But did they explain how Victor went from cunning villain to mindless brute in the first movie?
Oh well, minor gripe.
But yes... I would love to see Wolverine 2 be essentially Claremont/Miller's mini-series. I want ninjas!

It's an adaptation, of course there's going to be differences, just like Marvel 616 has differences to Ultimate Marvel, and how the Spider-Man movies had differences to the comics and cartoons.
As for Xavier standing...he wasn't always crippled. Hell, they showed him walk in X3.

I would love to see Sebastian Shaw and those people (can't remember the group) in the sequel, if there will be one. I know it's and X-Men story not a Wolverine story, but still. They already introduced Emma Frost in this one, so it would be a way to go.

Personally though i'd much rather see them go ahead with that rumoured Magneto Origins movie.
And I really hope they never entertain the idea of a movie based around comics most boring character in history, Cyclops.

Dealing with his family, X-factor maybe, introduce Havok, Corsair, bring in more of Multiple-Man, Polaris
It could possibly work if they stuck with Cyclops having a falling out with the Prof and going with his brother or something.

And get a different guy to play him than James Marsden who played him in X-Men. I never thought he fit the role.
