X-Men: TAS coming to DVD

From Marvel Toonzone:
In related news, a representative for Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment has confirmed reports that the studio will be releasing two volumes of the 1990s classic X-Men: The Animated Series to DVD on April 28th, 2009. Both releases, tentatively titled X-Men: Volume One and X-Men: Volume Two, will be 2-disc sets and will retail for a SRP of $23.99. These releases will also kick off the new "Marvel Comic Book Collection" releases for Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. Further details are expected to be released by the studio next month.
Original story(and schedules of other Marvel related shows on Disney XD): http://marvel.toonzone.net/news.php?action=fullnews&id=181
I haven't seen a lot of the X-Men episodes in years, and it will be nice to have them out on DVD. Here's hoping they go in chronological order rather than those "Best of" sets like Spidey: TAS has.
Also, who's hoping for Spider-man and his Amazing friends on DVD eventually? It wasn't the greatest series, but it had Swarm....

Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

I was thinking that, too! I remember how dark that cartoon was, how they killed off one of the heroes in the series premier, while death was still a taboo subject in kid's Satuday morning cartoon shows, at least Morph's death wasn't like the death of Optimus Prime in the 1986 Transformers movie.

When they revealed that Morph was alive I was like majorly happy. But when they showed up screwed up he was in the head now I felt bad for him. Not every cartoon and TV show makes you actually feel for a character, and Morph's internal struggle was really believable and I felt bad for him. Though, with his powers he could be the evilest sumbitch on the planet and he chooses to be good in the end. That has always stuck with me for some reason.

"Have yourself a Morlock little Christmas" was pretty bad. Heck, I think I only saw it once, and the only enjoyable part was Jean Grey and Gambit fighting while cooking Christmas dinner. Also, until recently, I had never seen the episode where Cody(Rogue's first kiss) got together with some aliens and took her powers away. That was a pretty poor episode too.
But yeah, lotta cool episodes. In my opinion, the M-Krann Crystal saga(think that was the name) was much better in the show than it was in the comics.

Evolution wasnt nearly as good as the 90's xmen. I have never owned a disney show or a disney owned show on dvd boxset. Will we get the treatment with extras hopefully? I havent been too impressed with some of the shows of bought in the last year with crappy or no extras.
I WOULD own gargoyles which is another disney show that was bad ass but the other half of the show will never get released on dvd. The creater guy said it was because it didnt sell. Well im sorry buddy but im paying as high as $65 for season one when it isnt even 15 episodes. What a retard.

Four discs in total for Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. I figure "Volume"=Season, and since Season 1 and 2 are both 13 episodes apiece, that's most likely what it will be.
At least, I hope it does and they dont' just cram random or similar themed episodes into each collection.....

Eh, that's definitely debatable. No question Season 1 of X-Men TAS is superior to Season 1 of Evolution. TAS has a ton of action, good voice acting, and if I remember a pretty tight storyline that resembled a 90's comic book.
However, the styles of the show are completley different, and I enjoyed the slow introduction and gradual character/ plot development of Evolution. Plus the single Sentinal in Evolution was a lot more threatening than the hordes in TAS. That's also where I feel Evolution REALLY picked up steam and became great.

I certainly hope Volume=Season. Cause if not, something is amiss.

Actually my boot-leg copy is only four discs, and contains all 78 episodes, plus a bonus episode "Pryde of the X-men". So yes, it is doable.

They obviously won't be doing that. Most likely this will be the first season released over two discs, much like they were done in Region 2.

Probably, just like they finished releaseing the original Hulk live action series Hulk came out in theatured last year and DVD, or when they released the 90's Fan Four series to cash in on the then upcoming live action adaptation.
However, the reasons behind it matter little. I'm getting really stoked for these sets. I'm one of those guys that loves superheroes but I've always kinda gravitated to the TV series interpretations because they're easier to come by and a single random episode is usually much easier to enjoy than a single random comic.
Comics are still superior though, because they can flesh out characters over years and can be a bit more intense. I decedied I'm going to start getting the Essential X-Men's soon, cause they are inexpensive, and are already in order. I read the first volume from the local libary and loved it. Kind of a surpirse too, cause some 70's comics I have seem to focus more on action and exclamated dialogue!!! over characterization.
Anyway, speaking of the 90's Fantastic Four series(which I haven't gotten yet or seen a lot of)it says this on wiki:
Additionally, pieces of footage from the episodes themselves had also been removed for network broadcast, and it is these cut episodes that comprise the DVD set
So does that mean syndication cuts? That's the entire point of DVD releases, no syndication cuts! Grr
Even if X-Men does have syndication cut episodes, I'll still probably end up getting it.

Oh Dont me wrong im stoked too. All we need is Conan , the rest of gargoyles and 90s spider-man and im happy for my 90's cartoon collection. Batman The AS is too pricey at this point $60 for a set is outrageous.

Wow first 2 volumes on the same day. X-men stuff will be hotcakes by that point anyways. And i bet they come out with a repackaged or new editions of the other xmen movies and maybe something for the Hulk vs dvd too.
I will be upset if there is no extra features.
