Are you a G1 vet?
Are you a young adult from the Beast Wars or Unicron Trilogy era?
A Bayverse kid?
For me, my 1st TF ever is Optimus Prime (G1) way back in the 1980's on Xmass. I played with it for a long time until it assploded in a zillion pieces. Of course, the G1 cartoon was my 1st contact.
Your turn! Please answer below.

2. Nope. Born in 1990, so I missed it the first time around. Started on Beast Wars in 1996, continued into Beast Machines and kept going from there. Didn't get to see the G1 cartoon until 2002/2003 when Kid Rhino put it on VHS and DVD. And didn't get to read the Marvel comics until 2010.
3. Yuppers. Got into Beast Wars as a kid through my brother, but didn't pay full attention to it until season 2. Actually, I take that back. It was the video pack figures of Razorclaw and Airazor that got me to pay attention to the show thanks to their pack-in VHS tapes containing "Aftermath" and Coming of the Fuzors, Part 1". The cliffhanger left me wanting to see how it'd end (even though I had already seen Part 2 on TV, but didn't pay that much attention to it at the time to fully remember how it played out).
Kept up with all of Beast Machines, tried to watch RID but scheduling conflicts with the networks and 9/11 prevented me from seeing it all at the time of its airing. Didn't get to see it all until 2007.
Tried to follow Armada, but issues related to school kept me from seeing it all on Toonami. Wouldn't get to see it all until Kid Rhino put it on DVD. Also tried to stick with Energon and managed to see it all, but I wasn't as focused on it as I felt I could have been. The Paramount DVD set helped me to see it all again but with better focus. Cybertron was one I followed diligently (in spite of it being mistreated by CN and bouncing onto and off of Kids WB), with it easily being the best of the trilogy (and currently the only one of the three that managed to hold up to an extent).
4. Was a teenager in high school when the first movie came out. But Animated found my affections more welcoming in the end.

Not until 1989, plus it was bloody expensive (still is TBH) I did have a couple of episodes on VHS though.

I'm asking, because I live in the Netherlands, where there where no saturdaymorning cartoons at the time, so we had to watch the English channels and among those was the Sky Channel. It was just there.
Which was a good thing, because I learned English. There where no subtitles.
From 1989 onward we had Dutch commercial television, with cartoons. The need for English channels went away.

What is your first Transformers toy ever that you remember? When and how did you got it? What was your first contact with Transformers ever?
I remember it well. Optimus Prime. My birthday, 1984. It was my first real contact with Transformers.
Are you a G1 vet?
I am. Grew up with it. Sadly, I'm not all that fond of it at this point in time. Which is odd and makes no sense, because I find no real value in the show (it's pure cheese, come on...) and the original toys, outside of a few exceptional exceptions, lost their luster for me long ago. Yet, when CHUG started, I gladly gobbled them all up because it was G1 toys done right. And they've only gotten better. (Go figure.)
Are you a young adult from the Beast Wars or Unicron Trilogy era?
I was a teen during the Beast era, and the Unicron Trilogy ran throughout my 20's. (I was 26 or so when it ended.)
A Bayverse kid?
Heh. No. I'm older than the entire Transformers franchise, and I'm starting to feel it, but the Bayverse makes me feel like a kid again!

I remember watching G1 episodes when they were chopped up into 5 min chunks and aired each morning on TVAM. I dont recall them being played in full anywhere.

The first thing I ever watched with Transformers in it, was a VHS tape that had the episode of Beast Wars where Dinobot died. It had another episode where I know Rampage was the main focus of it. Don't remember exactly what happened, but I remember by the end of it, Megatron controlled his spark. Again; I was REALLY young when I watched it.

At least, they're the first ones I distinctly remember. "Transforming robot toys" was such a common thing it's like trying to remember the first Lego/brick-built set...
Pretty sure I got them for Christmas, and I think technically Slag belonged to my brother and we were supposed to share Snarl. Regardless, Grimlock was my favortie of the bunch, even if his T. rex head had a habit of popping off.
And, oddly enough, I wasn't much a fan of the robot modes. Sure I loved transforming them, but going from awesome dinosaurs to dull humans? BOOOOORING!
I think Beast Wars was the first TF show I really watched, and even then mostly because CGI was all new and flashy at the time. I did get quite a few of the toys, but I'm not sure I quite grasped the two were connected. Still, it was enough for me to go "MUNKY NOT TRUKK!" when Beast Machines rolled around.
The G2 Dinobots are a bit too archaic for me to re-buy, but it seems nobody wants to officially repaint more modern Dinobots in those colors. So I have to make do with Kreons:

Yeah, that's Sludge instead of Grimlock. One day, one day...

"He may end up destroying a nearby planet or two, but such is life."

I think my first Transformer was G1 Snarl. My grandmother got it for me as a birthday gift. My first contact with Transformers was watching the G1 show on tv.

As for introduction to fiction, Beast Wars was my thing, though only season 1, as they kept changing showing times to silly hours.
Never touched the comics until 2009-10, really.

Firing up memory boosters...
Whoa. that always makes me dizzy.
First TF: Mirage
My older brother and I had heard that they were being released in the states and started saving our allowances. After three weeks of failed weekly trips to Children's Palace we were at a small toy store at The Country Club Plaza in Kansas City MO. BLAMO! we had to convince Mom that we each had enough money at home, and we'd pay her back as soon as we got home. He got Bluestreak. I got Mirage.
First exposure:
Some family friends had some how gotten their hands on some Diaclones before TFs hit State side. We would get really excited when we new we were going to there house for dinner. I used to stare at the little mini catalog that came with their toys when it wasn't my turn to play with the robots. I think they had Sideswipe and Suntreaker.
I guess that make's me a G1 Vet.

First Transformer: Of my very own, G1 Scoop. Held up very well over the years, though I lost the blue gun.
First Contact: G1 F.H.E. tapes, both owned and rented. Includes renting The Movie. Also my bro had some Transformers, but not too many. And quite a few GoBots.
I guess I'm a G1 vet, but I didn't really get into things until Beast Wars, and then really big around the time of the Rhino G1 releases and Dreamwave comics.

My first exposure would have to be G1 Season 3, forgot which channel. Later, we got Satellite TV, with a measly 13 channels that would define my childhood from German-dubbed anime (uncut most of the time) to Sky's reruns of G1 Season 1 & 2.
My first Transformers toy, or rather toys, would be these guys:

The Micromaster Off-Road Patrol with Powertrain, Mudslinger, Highjump and Tote. Gift from my mother. Over the next few years I'd get nothing but Micromasters, I love those guys
