As much as I love that custom, I'm not sure I'd like it as a real thing. :/

There's just something odd about combining the Dinobots in my mind. And that may be due to the Beast's appearance, yes.

Monstructor would be amazing to see in toy form!
Other than this one, I mean.

He's come a long way since.

With the benefit of 3rd party products, I'd say Fansproject Bruticus. I hate the G1 method of adding extra components to the figure, but this is mitigated by some variety in the weaponry provided.

Using only Hasbro molds, I'd say Abominus is my favorite, because I really like their individual robot and alt modes outside of the combiner. I feel much the same way about Menasor, though I like cars less than monsters and dragons.

On the Autobot side... um...

...I don't own any outside of PCC. Guess that'd be Grimstone, because there are dinosaurs involved.

Are you telling me that some dude made that at his house on his own?! People can do some amazing things with toys man. Id never have thought someone could do something like that on their own. I guess he hand picked a bunch of figures, took off the parts he needed, painted them and found a way to put them all together. Simply amazing! Way better looking than "beast" Thats how a dino combiner should look!
Now that is something I would gladly pay for. What a kick ass bot!
Again, what is "beasts" tech specs? does he have tech specs? Id say all tens except speed(5) and ofcourse intelligence(1)

Combiners.... Probably the best gimmick in the whole of Transformers.
I especially like Devastator: I already owned an original G1 version but I just could not resist getting Encore #20A as well, he's just so cool.
Computron is excellent, although Scattershot is not my favorite team leader, due to his weird alt-mode.
Predaking is very cool, but a little too bulky to my tastes. Still, considering the components are each the size of a dinobot, it is a complete monster. And speaking of monsters, I have a special fondness for the Pokemon Monster Pretenders: they are just so cute and cool (and in the case of Slog and Bristleback, highly vunerable).
Lastly, I am the lucky owner of a complete Liokaiser, and he's just a great selection of component members, although I wish his gestalt mode had shoulder movement, and not just elbow movement. The fact that he is almost entirely self-contained is a big plus.

No, it wouldn't. The Beast proved that we never want a Dinobot gestalt with the original Dinobots.

I would take a set of combining Dinobots over a set of regular Dinobots any day of the week. But perhaps that's because there's no accounting for taste, which forgives you Beast haters. :lol:

I was thinking the same thing. Sludge just looks like hes hangin out there on the arm, it doesn't look like he turns "into" the arm.

Snarl and Slag a little of that as well.

I know it looks like those dinos are just hanging out on the exo skeleton, but think about G-1- TOON combiners. (especially menasaur) they all looked like that. Thats why I like that figure. I think it could have looked a bit more savage, but Overall its awesome.

Yeah Omega Prime is awesome, however he is a little unstable, and Optimus Prime's waist joint has issues holding up the very heavy torso piece from Magnus, and tends to bend back easily.

Since robotmel provided the pics. I'll provide the exposition.

They are from the Old R.I.D. toy line from 2001. Both have lights and sounds, and Magnus has combination specific sounds. That is his sounds change when he is combined with Prime to be those of Omega Prime.

They are very cool they have lots of very nicely applied Chrome, and are quite large, and have many features. Prime is very articulated, and very cool in both of his robot modes.

Personally 2 of my favorites from any line.

But again Prime's waist is very small, and has a hard time holding up the bulk of Ultra Magnus.

Magnus is a functional car carrier and can accommodate about 3 deluxe class vehicles in 2 levels.

PCC Grimstone followed (closely) by G1 Devastator.

FYI I was really on the fence with Grimstone for ages. Then last year I found him cheap on eBay and I decided to take the plunge. Needless to say I was not disappointed. Great figure, highly recommended.

It's hard for me to say to say who my favourite combiner is...

G1 combiners are where it all started but unfortunately I can't get on board with the classic scramble city aesthetic right now, that and they're outside of my price point. :-(

All the RiD combiners have something to offer, Omega Prime is an impressive figure made from two equally impressive vehicles. Rail Racer is surprisingly coherent (Even if the individual robot modes suffer for it) and is fun to play with. Even Landfill, easily the most incoherent of the bunch, has the benefit of different combinations and fun individual bots.

Energon combiners were an awesome way to update the old tradition, even with updated Scramble city features.

PCC's, you either love them or hate them. Personally, I love them. I've even got a complete collection of them (outside of repaints) So I believe they are my favourite as of right now.

Thank you both for the pics and explanations!
I dont usually like many things that arent classics,but I dig those figures.
I even like that ultramagnus and that is a very odd thing since it has been a pet peeve of mine that hasbro wont give us a proper G1 updated magnus
They look great together as well. I cant imagine a stronger transformer thgat optimus/magnus combo. Galvatron/cyclonus maybe?
