Another Chance to Own the Highly Coveted Netflix Bumblebee Toy

Posted by william-james88 Nov 17, 2021 at 5:03pm CST 42,325 views
While we have seen many complaints of there being too many Bumblebees on the shelves, one of the most coveted toys from Hasbro for the past year(s) is a Bumblebee toy. The deluxe toy from the second wave of the Netflix line, available only at Walmart, and it was the only release of this specific mold with the Volkswagen alt mode. Well, Canadian retailer Toysnowman, who ships to the US, was able to get a shipment of these (along with the other Netflix deluxes). It is available right now with a limit of 1 per order for 39.99 CAD (31$ USD), which is about half what it goes for e-bay at times. Do be wary of international shipping though if you are outside Canada.

Once the news breaks...

Still regretting on skipping the 'Bee I saw at Walmart, all because of a stupid blemish. :BANG_HEAD:

Made sure he stood next to Optimus. Got him for $40 in box. Could not find any price better and goven the scarcity of the figure likely caused by that container accident in the Pacific.

There is always a chance they could reissue him in Studio series 86 with Spike.

I saw Netflix BB multiple times, so I had my chance. It's not in my wheelhouse of collecting, so I have no regrets. The only Netflix item I never saw at retail was Soundwave. But again it wasn't on my want list, so no loss.

Oh well...I saw him once in the wild...didn't feel right paying that much for such a tiny figure.

And then Ingo around and pay MORE for an Origins 'Bee at TRU...

All depends on if the agreement with VW allows that, after all, he used the cliffjumper body in the World's Collide set

Which makes me wonder: we know Movie Bumblebee is the main focus of that agreement, with G1 Bumblebee tagging along. VW is no longer in play for future toys since Bumblebee traded in at the end of the Bumblebee movie, but what about reissues? Also, are the licenses company-specific? TakaraTomy has that Perfect Finish Beetle Bumblebee coming out.

Here's a thought twist. What if they can re-use the netflix mold/license but chose not to for the World Collide set just to avoid giving what is so far a Walmart exclusive to their main competitor in the US. It would sort of like giving Walmart a go at Redwing. Redwing was available again online about a year or so after Target's exclusive go at him and I think we are nearing that point with Netflix Bee.

Licencing agreements are done at the national level. What may be ok in Japan may not be ok in the US. Hence why Hasbro is importing that toy rather than manufacturing and distributing it themselves.

The G1 reissue probably was just tagging along since Hasbro specifically reissued him to go with the movie release. But we know it isn't as simple as "Hasbro has the Beetle license" otherwise they wouldn't have had to renegotiate for the Earthrise Bumblebee which took so long to approve it ended up in the Netflix line instead.

My holy grail. A Bumblebee I have never seen in the wild and never had the chance to order.

Sorry it sold out so quickly. My minions were lucky to find one on the shelf a while back, and I posted a review.

As Bumblebee figures go, this one was pretty good. Yes it was a retool of ER Cliffjumper, but an extensive retool. And since the G1 figures were also very similar, it seemed appropriate. The Netflix figure did a much better job with the paint and the detailing. Not perfect mind you, but still pretty good. It was $19.97 at the time, so we at least escaped the Ebay markups. If you were lucky enough to snag one of the ones mentioned here, kudos. As long as you're not scalpers!

Fixed it for you. In Japan, for example, it was available from Amazon Japan and TT Mall, I believe? How about all the other countries, outside the USA?

Only if you let it bother you. :D

But I guess most of us including myself can take that advice about 1 facet or another when it comes to collecting.

Nah. It's pretty much standard fare since ever.
I could even say that it ironically ADD to the fun. Especially when you happen upon the hard to find thing by chance and finally get it.

Does anybody have issues with their Soundwave yellowing? I'm starting to hear some rumblings that the gray plastic is becoming discolored. Figures are kept out of sunlight etc.
