Leader class Dinobots, you say?

Will we finally get the official Dinobots we deserve?

Depending on how they look, I'd be down for some Leader Dinobots (I still wish we'd get the rest of the Bayverse Dinobots though...). The inclusion of a Daniel figure sort of makes me wish for more figures of the human cast, it would've been sweet if Earthrise Optimus for example had little Spike and Carly figures with it, they don't even have to be fully articulated or anything.

Having all the G1 dinobots as leaders would be totally awesome. The PotP figures were incredible, especially when compromising with the combining gimmick. Still, everyone find them way too small.

So, SS leader dinobots will finally be the budget MP figures we had all waiting for. Especially if there's no "voyager with armor" gimmick involved. If they do make them, it will sure be on the course of 2 years minimum in order to have the time to make them all and leave leader slots for other characters.

Maybe that Soundwave we saw with the leaked Thrust and Cyclonus is a SS 86 figure (though I'd prefer Blaster, personally).

I really hope these new Dinobots will be classic G1 with WFC GIMMICK AND ARTICULATIONS!

If this is the case, it would be awesome if he comes packaged with Ravage, Rumble, Frenzy and Ratbat to reflect the scene in the movie where Soundwave sends out all of his cassettes to attack Blaster, though I suppose if they did that it would probably bump up the price to more than an average Voyager?

this basically confirms some rumors been going around, including wfc3 having beast wars

They could also do the same thing with Blaster. Have a Leader set of a Voyager Blaster ($30) and 2 cassette packs ($10 each, so $20).

There's always that DOTM Blaster that never got released.

Leader Slag? Not too much different than Voyagers. If' I'm not mistaken (and I might be...my brain is sludge from studying so much), the voyager figs are about the same size as the leaders; the leaders though have the "extras" (Astrotrain has additional armor, Prime has his trailer, Shockwave had his boogie board, etc). That means that the only reason the Slag will be a leader class is because of the Daniel figure. He probably will be about the same size as the Leader Optimus or SLIGHTLY bigger, but no considerably bigger.

Depends how articulate the Daniel figure is. I think I had seen the initial leaker for it say that it would be like the Paratrooper from Shockwave's set where it wasn't transforming or anything, but had some articulation. This could mean Slag could be maybe a head taller than Prime and dense, or he could be mostly hollow to get taller if need be. If we see Grimlock at SDCC (because I feel like that'll be the big ticket reveal for Studio Series this year) we could get a sense of how big the Dinobots will be

@Kanrabat re:holes Yeah, I forgot about Optimus and the 5mm holes in his stacks.

ZeroWolf wrote:Oh I know Blaster is cassette but I think vinyl sells better these days ;)
Probably because vinyl doesn't get murdered by magnets or snarl up into eldritch knots.

I'm guessing that the Leader price point will be used to make the Dinobots not only tall (ideally at least a head above CW Optimus) but also give them their full arsenals.

Could we maybe set up a separate discussion thread for the SS-86 stuff?

Depends on how it's marketed if it's a subline then yes but if it's just a different image on the lower part of the box like all he other different movies, then probably not. It's a wait and see game till the first figure is officially revealed.

Studio Series is Studio Series. Doesn't really matter what film it is...

And there's a perfectly good G1 centered line called War for cybertron that is cranking out 3 times the number of SS figures per year between waves and exclusives and by extension selects.

Put. Them. There.

We have a seperate thread for the Netflix subline which i think is the thrust here.

@D-Max look on the brightside, we're at least getting Jolt and Dino.

Sounds like a plan. It’s just kind of jarring for what’s been a movie figures thread to suddenly be overrun by G1.
