At the Hasbro display, I asked John Warden about the little Payload redeco that comes with Scrounge, asking if it's supposed to be his Special Arm or if it's a new character. He chuckled at the idea of it being Scrounge's arm, saying that one could think of it as such, but then stated that it isn't a new character and is basically still just Payload.Hellscream9999 wrote:D-Maximus_Primal wrote:I figured it out!!!!! One could reconcile both together into saying that Payload transforms into the Special Arm.D-Maximus_Primal wrote:Sabrblade wrote:At the Hasbro display, I asked John Warden about the little Payload redeco that comes with Scrounge, asking if it's supposed to be his Special Arm or if it's a new character. Special arm. The Primal has spoken.

For some reason I'm drawn more and more to Hasbro's Nosecone. Probably because I consider him to be a "stand-in" member of some sort, along the likes of Alpha Bravo and Hasbro's Blast Off, being a straight redeco (with a switched out part). Look at him and tell me you don't agree:
A similar case can be made for Lightsteed/Lightstorm/Lightspeed, except it's from Autobot to Autobot, not switching factions:
... or maybe it's because I remember playing with a friend's G1 Nosecone at his house.

These two are perhaps the easiest ones to accept as "second stringers" for the Technobots team. They are completely different molds with completely different looks compared to their Takara counterparts. Strafe has different molds too, but in his case, it reads more like two similar yet different attempts at the same outcome, while with Nosecone and Lightspeed, it feels more like two completely different takes on a similar concept. Does that make sense? Anyway, I like to think of Hasbro's Nosecone as "Screwdrive" and Lightspeed as "Warpspeed." Yes, I'm going to pimp those names every chance I get!

I dont see what's not to like. It's a green tank, just like what Armada is supposed to be, and with working treads. It has minicon ports which make more sense to be on this version than the G1 deco. And you can position the back kibble to look just like the shoulder towers. He is an amazing homage to Armada Megs and I cant understand why nobody cares about him. This feels to me more that G1 simply sells more, thats all. Because objectively, this mold is a more loyal interpratation to Armada Megs than it is to G1 Megs.

Scrounge only comes with Computron.1984forever wrote:Is Scrounge being released seperately this fall? Or will I be buying him off ebay for $50 or more?
Hasbro only did him cuz their Computron needed a Legends figure like most of their other CW combiners.

Toysrus and Walmart in Canada are getting all the COmbiner Wars boxsets so we will get this one too. We even got G2 Menasor and G2 Superion before the US
What Canada probably wont get is Deluxe Groove. We didnt get Slingshot and Wildrider last time, they had to be ordered from the states.

You will have to buy him off e-bay if you want him individually.

Legends/legion:
G2 Megatron and EZ Chronicles Megatron.
New Legends:
Crossovers G2 Megatron and generations Megatron or better yet, TG28 Megatron.
Deluxe:
Classics deluxe Megatron and special edition Megatron.
Voyager:
GDO Megatron and Cloud Megatron.
New Leader:
Armada Megatron and G1 Megatron.
Computron is still going to be mix and match for me. Takara Nosecone all the way. Hasbro Afterburner with Takara Afterburner's guns (since there's red on the Hasbro version anyway) as I like the orange more and how it helps to bring the yellow from Nosecone and the guns of Strafe into Computron better. Hasbro Strafe as I love those wings and the sleeker fighter jet look overall and for the Scrounge integration for even more yellow. Takara Lightspeed (I was going to go Hasbro and use Takara's as a lazy Sideswipe with a new chest and head from Shapeways but I decided against it after seeing Hasbro's in robot mode as it's too much white for my image of Lightspeed). I'm not decided on Scattershot now. I appreciate the new chests and head (although the head can be switched since I'm getting both) but I like the blue paint on the Hasbro version. Maybe I'll switch the heads and go with Hasbro or maybe I'll like the new chests more once I have them in hand.
Hasbro Nosecone, Takara Strafe and now Hasbro Lightspeed are still going to be the Powerdashers for me. I don't care if the colors don't match up entirely but they're pretty close as is. I don't know what I'm going to do with Takara Afterburner or the unused Scattershot yet. I was going to get retail Scattershot and build Betatron but maybe I'll skip it and just use the Hasbro Computron's Scattershot for Betatron instead. I still have time to figure everything out and then as much time as I want after I have them.

So, we can either get a lackluster boxy and awesome hands and feet, or a great body and awful monkey hands.

So considering you can get a PE set with a new head for the same price as import charges... it basically becomes choose which leg-mode Nosecone you like better, which limb colours you like better and which chest detailing you like better. Also, it brings the hands and feet into more consideration.
The head is really the only thing about Hasbro's Computron that's really bad and really messing up the idea of him being Computron.
I honestly believe that were Takara!Scattershot released separately or used for the Hasbro set, a lot fewer people would have a problem with Hasbro Computron.

Plus, Takara's Strafe is possibly the coolest retool I've seen in a while. I'd army-build that if it didn't cost an arm and a leg... Geddit 'cuz he's an arm or a leg?

Question: Which TF online retailers do you guys get preorders quickest from? I am trying to decide whether I should preorder stuff from TFsource, or BBTS, or somewhere else in the near future.

SillySpringer wrote:Takara's Nosecone looks like SHIZZLESNIT as a leg, and the hands and feet on the Hasbro one look better. Personally, I'd save money and just get the Hasbro one.
He looks like rook as a leg, except with a ridiculously sized kneecap - this can only be viewed as an improvement - it'll also slim up his arm mode's shoulder too (haha, fringe benefits )
The hfg's work as hands, their only shortcoming as feet, is using over-sized figures as legs, like breakdown and streetwise, they work well on well-proportioned legs, like the aerialbots, offroad and mirage

They are 3 identical figures which have the exact same mold as shockwave. If you want this as a toy, just buy 3 shockwaves. Only the head and deco are different, but the toy and playability of the mold is the same. No reason to miss out on the fun.

Yeah, but, I always kinda liked reflector - for no reason that I can discern - so this would've been a cool set to get (plus the paint apps that actually made him look like a camera - that's an important part...)

The fact that the Club released this figure means that Hasbro has no current plans to release it on their own. It was Hasbro who even gave the figure to the Club, same as Ratchet and the forthcoming TFSS Counterpunch.Prowl4 wrote:They'll eventually mass release reflector. Easy money to be made there.

I mean, hasbro released 's almost exclusively while funpub has released 's almost exclusively, couldn't there have been a balance? Still waiting on those goddamn seeker limbs

I guess you could, except it would inevitably look like a bad bruticus cosplay, unless they changed the combined modes chest design, since it would be 3/5 of bruticus already with 2 aerialbots (which would actually make it 4/5 of bruticus, since he's using an aerialbot limb already) so it seems absurdly redundant. Plus, the bruticus torso is still kinda wibbly and squat, so it wouldn't be the tall, lean Nexus Prime we all deserve. Now, if they changed the torso to scattershot...

I think you could easily get away with using the Hot Spot/Pyra Magna mold over Onslaught. The original torso vehicle mode Heatwave and Barricade had was never that well defined anyhow...

Yes. It was said at the TCC Roundtable panel that Counterpunch is the pretooled head for Wheeljack, and that the backstory for the figure is that Punch's Counterpunch side finally took him over just as his original bio said he feared would happen.JelZe GoldRabbit wrote:Sabrblade wrote:The fact that the Club released this figure means that Hasbro has no current plans to release it on their own. Firefly & Quicklinger
Skydive & Starscream
Air Raid & Thrust
Drag Strip & Mirage
Breakdown & Sunstreaker
Wheeljack & Counterpunch
Dead End & Wildrider
Streetwise & Prowl
Offroad & Ironhide
First Aid & Ratchet
Swindle & Hound
So far I'm only missing Rook's and Brawl's alternate heads... if they even have one. I expected at least one to be used with Hasbro's Nosecone.
*EDIT* I'm only counting the ones built into the mold by original design. The likes of Trailbreaker, Victorion, Liokaiser and Computicon I consider "added on".
