Comicbook.com has given us a new update on the upcoming Transformers: Cyberverse cartoon, in the form of a new interview and a first image! The interview states that the new series will once again focus on Bumblebee, but this time Windblade will be his main compatriot for the series. The series will deal with Bumblebee recovering lost memories of his past. You can read some snippets from the interview below, and view the first look image!

Cyberverse will star Bumblebee and his best friend Windblade, but the storyline will feature other popular Transformers as well. As you can see in the first image from the show, the art style and overall design is much more of a Generation 1 throwback than its predecessor Robots in Disguise, but this show carries over the Bumblebee focus.

.....

Of course, it wouldn't be a Transformers show without Decepticons, and they will be returning in force for Transformers: Cyberverse.

"As each memory is repaired, another clue comes to light that will lead them both to complete their shared mission to save their friends and Earth… however, the Decepticons are hot on their heels and time is running out.

Woo, more Windblade!

... bleh, more focus on Bumblebee. In retrospect it should have been obvious; even if Cyberverse's focus eventually moves away from him, it was probably gonna happen initially in 2018. Something to do with him getting a live-action movie by Wollyhood or something like that; not sure if you guys have heard

Bumblebee's BEST FRIEND Windblade

I wonder how that will play out.Is this still in the same Aligned continuity? The designs look like simplified IDW versions.

I'm interested.Waiting for the trailer!

Artstyle has a nice mix between Animated, RID15, Rescue Bots, and even IDW (when it goes cutesy, that is). Still want to see how the show turns out, and hopefully we can get more references beyond G1 or anything more recent (bring in RID Scourge and less organic Dinobot!)

The Aligned continuity failed and crashed hard and based on the description it's a new universe.

It's not going to be IDW either since Cyberverse seems to be a simplified fresh start which also means don't expect anything outstanding compared to the past it will be the standard kids show and nothing deep or remotely interesting.

Forget about it the current team at Hasbro is only G1 fan boys and are not interested in any other series besides adapting Beast Wars to G1 style as the POTP Optimus Primal would like to remind you.

This doesn't look like a G1 throwback artistically at all, at least not original G1 style.

In an ideal world I would hope that they would one day realize that Transformers is a children's franchise with said children being their number 1 priority always and that the brand has moved on past them in these last 30 something years.

But this is reality their just going to be ignorant and complain like something will happen if they do.

Ignorant? IGNORANT? No, not this time. You don't get to sit there and call others ignorant like you're some fucking elitist above everyone else.

This premise sounds like CRAP. And yes, it sounds "kiddie". Anyone want to denigrate me for that? FUCKING GO FOR IT!

Because here's the thing, Deadput, and anyone else who wants to have a go, previous series in the past have shown that they can make TF cartoons that appeal to both children AND adults.

You know who is ignorant? Hasbro. Hasbro for developing cartoons that they dumb down because they think kids can't handle stories that are a little more "grown up".

Actually, it's not ignorant, IT'S INSULTING!

Rescue Bots ... here was a show primarily aimed at young kids, but adults could still enjoy it.

On the flip side, Robots in Disguise was aimed at younger kids, and it started off great, but has progressively gotten dumber to the point that it's insulting to its intended audience.

But hey, you want to sit up there on your high horse branding people ignorant because someone dislikes this premise? Go right ahead, its what I've come to expect from you.

Just remember this is a first look, it may surprise us, or it may contend with Energon. Also it may just be a filler show until something in 2020, much like RiD (2000) was.

Hopefully Captain High and Mighty is aware of this as well.

Like always, I will be giving it a chance, but from this premise, an amnesiac over-used character running around with a character rammed down our throats running around have crazy whack-a-doodle adventures doesn't sound promising.

HA HA HA you really expect that this Awesome, perfectly flawless, expertly written Transformers show that everyone in the planet will love can even exist? If it was going to happen it would of already happened by now it's been over 30 years.

Hasbro is a company that only wants money like every other human being on the planet they don't care and they never will it's 2017 in the real world! Generation toys and comics only exist so they can milk us of our money while exploiting inflation and making the figures worse in quality then several years ago.

I wasn't trying to act all "high and mighty" but you know what I do think the majority of the fan base in general who are older then I am at 25-40 years old and worship this childish franchise like it's meant to be something greater and constantly whine and fret over not getting what they want.

Even if Hasbro is ignorant in some parts it doesn't change on how ungrateful and ignorant people like you are which is fine I guess nobody is perfect which is why crap like this happens all the time.

I for one haven't seen The Last Knight or any of RiD and I don't plan on watching Machinima's TR show. I can't see that pattern stopping with this cartoon either.

That only happened because Primal won a poll where that was part of the deal. I'm pretty sure they didn't actually want to do that one either, they just got stuck with it because Primal wound up on the ballot for whatever reason. and people voted for him.

And it's pretty clear they don't care about sticking to the original this time. After all these G1 toys that look like near-replicas of the original, we get Primal, who has to combine with a separate piece of hardware just to get his beast mode back, and otherwise his alt mode amounts to little more than being flattened.

Armada at least got a Starscream a few years back. If they ever give Cybertron (the series/toyline, not the planet) its due, I'm pretty sure it'll be a sign of the apocalypse.

An edited expert of Wikipedia's Mary Sue page

"A Mary Sue is usually but not always female, who for one reason or another is deemed undesirable by fan critics.

A character may be judged Mary Sue if she is competent in too many areas and/or is viewed as admirable by other sympathetic characters. Mary Sues are generally presumed to be idealized self-inserts rather than true characters.

"Mary Sue" is an extremely subjective value judgement. TvTropes observed that "Mary Sue" is actually the reaction that fans may have to a work that "is unduly favoring a character by changing other characters or the environment in inappropriate ways. When the audience calls "Mary Sue" on a character, the author has shattered their Willing Suspension of Disbelief."[1]

true Mary Sue stories is that they often cause canon characters, established story lines, and the very inner consistency of the canon's reality, to behave wildly out of bounds."

To me this is true, but again it varies from person to person. Although she is not a full on Mary Sue she seems to be nearing it every incarnation, especially being the new main character's (Bumblebee) best friend.

Indeed, the premise seems a little... displeasing. Laser Guided Amnesia on the protagonist plus yet another main-character appearance from a character that hasn't done the best job building goodwill among fans... admittedly, aside from the characters involved and the whole 'amnesia' thing, there's nothing actually wrong with the premise and this show might end up being alright. Who can tell for certain at this point (nobody, that's who).

However. If you're going to do a show where the main protagonist has amnesia and is trying to recover their old memory, why not make it more interesting? I know the real answer, because if the main character is Bumblebee then it'll be more popular or whatever, but picture for a second: An amnesiac hero (and I guess Windblade) going around saving people and helping the Earth. But the hero isn't Bumblebee, it's Starscream. Sent to the Earth to destroy it, he ended up losing his memory banks on landing and was found by Windblade, who informed him that he was a hero who was sent to protect the Earth. As he gains more of his memories back, he starts to realize that maybe before he came to Earth he wasn't a hero, but was instead one of the villains. How would he deal with that? The "new" Starscream is a good 'bot dedicated to helping people, but he finds out he wasn't always that way and was tricked by Windblade into joining her side of the war. Think G1 Skyfire in reverse, fittingly.

Interesting character dynamics! Windblade trying to prevent Starscream from regaining his memory, without tipping him off that she's hiding something from him. Starscream slowly discovering that Windblade is lying to him, maybe then trying to avoid tipping her off until he has the whole story (like a chain of who-knows-that-I-know-that-you-know). The two of them eventually becoming genuine friends despite previous animosity (remembered by Windblade, unremembered by Starscream), but it being strained as Starscream's new memories start to push them apart again.

Interesting story! Maybe the Decepticons they're fighting are sent to retrieve Starscream, but as they get captured and put into stasis (I'm assuming that's what's gonna happen) they can't relay the information back to Decepticon command that Starscream has defected, so command starts to assume there's an all-out war taking down their best troops on Earth before they can free Starscream.

Dramatic irony! The audience knows exactly what Starscream used to be like, and maybe even why the Decepticons are attacking, but Starscream knows none of it. Windblade is halfway in between, putting her in an interesting position where she's still withholding vital info from Starscream but she also doesn't have the full story either.

Anyways, I think I went a little overboard but, do we see how an amnesiac protagonist could be done in a much more interesting way than "Oh Bumblebee forgot what he's doing so he has to try and remember while he beats up the bad guys"? (The MC wouldn't have to be Starscream either, but I think his character best fits the story I threw together. Almost like an inversion of Armada Scream's arc, in some ways.) Not saying the show is gonna be bad, and I know that Bee's the protag for reasons beyond good storytelling, but I just wish such overused tropes could be done with a more unique spin.

(Also, if each of Bumblebee's regained memories lead him further him toward a dark and dangerous mission, does that mean his Amnesia is sending him on a Dark Descent? :-P Okay I'll get out now.)

Oh here we go, straight off the rank and you have to twist my words.

Did I say anything about a "awesome perfectly flawless expertly written show that everyone will love?

Nope. What I did say, and you really should pay attention to this before you embarrass yourself any further, is that we have HAD shows in the past that have been enjoyed by both children AND adults.

Hasbro is a company that only wants money like every other human being on the planet they don't care and they never will it's 2017 in the real world! Generation toys and comics only exist so they can milk us of our money while exploiting inflation and making the figures worse in quality then several years ago.

awww you're trotting out the money argument. That's cute. Lame, but cute.

I wasn't trying to act all "high and mighty" but you know what I do think the majority of the fan base in general who are older then I am at 25-40 years old and worship this childish franchise like it's meant to be something greater and constantly whine and fret over not getting what they want.

Open your eyes. Those in the 25-40 year age bracket? Some of them are people who grew up on Beast Wars.

A series that, when it aired, was enjoyed by kids and adults. Yes, at the time a lot of the original G1 fans opposed it, but they also came around. BW is now regarded as one of the best TF series out there.

Those fans that grew up with it, the ones that you just brought up, a lot of them aren't G1 fans.

So who exactly is ignorant? Oh wait ...

Even if Hasbro is ignorant in some parts it doesn't change on how ungrateful and ignorant people like you are which is fine I guess nobody is perfect which is why crap like this happens all the time.

... apparently I'm ignorant!

So here we go again Captain High and Mighty, you want to sit there on your high horse acting like you know me? You want to sit up on your little pedestal looking down and casting judgement on people like me who grew up on G1?

Well here's a little eye opener for you. If I were this ungrateful ignorant person you like to brand me, then why is it I have an entire room, wall to wall, floor to ceiling, filled with Transformers, from every.single.line that Hasbro AND Takara Tomy has produced?

Oh shut up it's a cartoon you could just ignore it and move on but no more complaining.

nah mate, I won't shut up. In fact, I believe I, and other staff members, have pulled you up in the past for thinking you can tell other members what they can and can't do.

Again, OPEN YOUR EYES! This is a discussion forum. People DISCUSS THINGS.

I won't apologise to you for bringing this to your attention, but not everyone thinks like you. Just because my opinion differs to yours does NOT mean I should keep it to myself else you get your tight little panties in a twist.

Reality check kid, people have differing opinions, and they're going to express them. If someone should shut up, it's YOU! I'm sick and tired of seeing you put other people down just because they say something that differs to your opinion.

If you don't like it, NOT MY PROBLEM! Deal with it kid.

It's called marketing their going to use mascot characters like they always do get use to it.

How childish and disgusting why should I even respect this fandom when it just gives me headaches... I tried being nice Burn in the past but this kinda stuff is enough, being insulted just because I used the word ignorant to describe the rabid casual fans?

And here we go, typical attitude. "I did nothing wrong, I'm the victim here".

If you're the victim here Deadput, then why have we had to deal with so many reported posts of yours?

Get over yourself mate, you're not a victim, you're a perpetrator. You pull this shit on a regular basis. Someone says something against your opinion, you jump on them.

You're tried being nice to me? Oh boohoo.

Get over yourself.

This new series may suck, this new series may be the best, we won't truly know until we see it, but based from this premise, I don't like the sound of that.

That's my opinion, not a fact, I'm entitled to it, if you don't like it, then I don't care. By all means, debate it with me, but try doing it without writing me off as ignorant.

I bet you can't.

... anyway.

While I'm personally not a fan of the premise right from the get-go, I've learned in the past few years that as long as you don't make Captain America Hydra, there's not a lot of basic concepts that you can really go wrong with. So I'm still totally gonna go into this with an open mind -- I really regret, for instance, deciding to dislike RiD 2015 from the get-go because it wasn't my desired TFP sequel. Especially when the earlier seasons of RiD 2015 were arguably its strongest.
Don't wanna make that same mistake this time. Especially when it's the first time Windblade is a main character in a main cartoon series!

You have to look at the context of how Deadput was using the term "ignorant".

According to him, anyone who wants things to be G1 only (of which he labelled myself) is ignorant.

So by pointing out that I am a collector of all lines, I'm anything but an "ignorant Geewunner".

I also have every series on DVD, I just wish I had time to sit down and watch some of them again. 'cause that's what I'd do as a fan.

Not to mention the comics collection.

But hey, I can admit to being ignorant at times, I just draw the exception at this particular instance.

Sorry to go back to this but I did not mean this specifically what I meant is that those who wanted Hasbro to cater to their wishes specifically were so not talking about G1, if I did say that then that's just me rambling and not thinking about what I say which is how my kind of comments happen.

I apologize I did take things to far I know that but it's not like I randomly just attack peoples opinions for no reason most of the time, I understand different opinions and all that and I respect that kind of stuff (Just because i don't comment on a thing to say so doesn't mean I don't) but I hate the way some people say those opinions. (makes me a little bit of a hypocrite I get that but that is based on emotional rage)

D R E W wrote:Absolutely not. Just, **** no. I was initially excited for this, but now I see I misplaced my hope. Looks like cancer and the story is AIDS. You have failed me, Hasbro, you have failed me.

This is not proper thoughtful criticism this is just whiny judging the product before it's even out with ridiculous assumptions like the story which hasn't been revealed besides a brief premise which could either be good or bad I don't see how this is acceptable it's just very frustrating to read and doesn't add anything.

I also never said anything about anyone having to like this heck my first post about this news today was criticism for things on the show like Windblade's design, do I think this show is going to be anything special? No but I believe nobody should be raising their hopes for their dream Transformer show especially when people like the guy above throw temper tantrums for when the first glance is not what they hope for.

Deadput, Burn, grow up. You're not 3 years old (unless you are, in which case I commend you for your extensive vocabulary. This is no longer a civilized discussion, it's a catfight. Last I checked, this thread was about the new show about everybody's most controversial character. You do realize your argument is here for the whole world to see?

Personally, I'm not going to judge until I've seen it. Sure, it's another Bumblebee, but Prime and Animated were good, right?

I don't get it. The animation style for this series seems all kiddie and whatnot. However, that doesn't mean it will be. Animated is my favorite Transformers cartoon, and look at its style. I personally fine the style interesting, if not a bit copied a bit from RiD 2015, but interesting nonetheless.

Okay, there's a bit of a Windblade saturation, but I (in my honest opinion, not judging anyone else's) don't honestly mind seeing her again. Especially in a main character role from the get-go.

Bumblebee...ugh. Once again, this is only my opinion. However, I really don't like the fact we're seeing again, especially with a story focused on him a second time in a role. It's a bit much. That being said, I'll reserve real judgement until we see him.

As for the whole 'kiddie' angle again, I say, so? Fun fact, all over us that are over the ages of 8-12 aren't the targeted audience. Hasbro ain't making this for us. Sure, they may pull a Prime, Animated, or Beast Wars on us, but those are the exception, not the rule. They make them for a younger demographic. Get over the fact that this show might not cater to you and go watch something you do like.

I've learned not to judge too rashly on first impressions with Transformers shows. When I first saw the teaser clips for "Transformers Animated", I reeled in horror. It looked like someone mashed Teen Titans, The Incredibles and Team Fortress into some kind of evil blender. I was fully prepared to dislike the show before I'd seen the premiere episode.

Nevertheless, I did sit and watch the premiere out of curiosity. And I'm glad I did. Because the show quickly won me over and became one of my favorites, and to this day it remains the one iteration that I wish they had carried on for a couple more seasons.

So I'm not going to reject this 'Cyberverse' show out of hand. Though I would be disappointed if they pull a Hermoine-Granger-Mary-Sue-Bella thing with Windblade. Yeah, we get it - she was 'created' by fans and the fans like her. Stop being so heavy-handed with it...

That's the best news today!

I think Bee's design looks pretty cool in a way where it combines his more youthful G1 design elements while having some of that "cool" muscle car Bee in a balanced combination.

I just don't like the eyes on the characters so far because they just look blank and lack emotion, in my opinion the best eyes in the franchise have been the live action and Prime ones where they can emote pretty well espically on how Prime not everyone had the same eys such as Megatron and Knock out having distinct eyes.

Image

Also the description that has the whole Bumblebee having flash backs to Cybertron is a great way to have Cybertron involved while having the show mainly take place on Earth.

i like the animation and what would make it better if the same voice actors voiced their roles again

I am suprised no one said it yet, but while the proportions are along the lines of Animated, the style comes from the Santalucia Evergreen designs.

1. It's honestly just a picture. I for one am happy to see a Bumblebee with a more "traditional" face without it being too G1. I never liked his G1 head (loved the WFC and Generations deluxe figure's heads though.)
2. As for the art style/design choice, it will depend how it moves in motion in proper animated fashion. Really hope this isn't cgi or flash animation. Kind of tired of it to be honest.
3. Despite the very colorful and "child friendly" designs, if the show if anything like the Spectacular Spider-man or Transformers Animated. I'll be happy. (wish it wasn't once again, Bumblebee centered though. >:oP )
4. Really hope this isn't connected to anything like the aligned continuity, and that we can finally have something different. I feel that everything right now is restricted, and that RID kinda flattened my excitement for TF cartoons.

Hey, I just now noticed that! Thanks for pointing that little tidbit of info! Now it does make me wonder of we're gonna get an Evergreen Windblade.... :-?

The Prime face/head design has really grown on me in these past couple of hours. I have to say it has the right balance of Prime/RiD, G1, and Animated. Now when will the toys be revealed?

Yeah, I was just about to mention that. That Bumblebee is pretty much the evergreen design run through a more cartoony-looking filter. I guess this is Hasbro next step in creating more visual consistency across the brand.

As for the story premise, the description give off a vibe to me of the show possibly being one of those lighthearted simpler shows consisting of 11-minute short episodes rather than full-length 22-minute episodes. If this is to be the case, then as long as the writing quality is less Teen Titans Go! and more, say, Arthur, or even Sonic Boom, I could dig an 11-minute format.

It won't be. As much as I like the Aligned Continuity (minus RiD), I believe it's run its course. Which is good. New reboot, fresh universe to explore.

As much as I'm excited to see what the show will be like, I find myself slightly put off by Bumblebee's door wings. I know it's kinda become a staple for him, but I'm beginning to find it overused, even though this is the third incarnation to have them. Can't wait to see the Decepticons.

I legit thought bumblebee was a female at first. IDK why but he just looks sort of feminine. (Not complaining, robots are sometimes androgynous.) But the windshield and his side kinda give him an hourglass shape so its not my fault.

You're kinda right, he does have quite the thin waist. Plus he has that 'robo-panties' look going on that Windblade tends to end up with. I don't at all mind Transformers being less generically-buff and boxy, though; Bumblebee can kinda go either way (I also think he looks good as a short squat 'bot) but he tends to carry a lithe build rather well ;)^

You can't sit on the sidelines! Fan the fires! PO as many as you can! Be adventurous!

Also, ugh. Bumblebee... I love you. You're amazing. You're like an underdog (sometimes). But... you need a vacation. At least step back. Give us a chance to have fun with someone else in the limelight, even if you can't remember being in it yourself.

However, this memory lost idea is an interesting one. Hopefully, we'll get a really cartoon out of this. Also, something else I want to point out is this- this series (based on the premise) will not be focused on a team of Autobots on a certain mission. Just two of them trying to put one's life back together. I don't think we've had very many TF series that focuses on one or two main characters. This'll make things interesting.

And to you godforsaken idiots that are judging the show based on the aesthetics: Grow the heck up and let it actually be bad be you decry this as childish.
