Remember when people went to Games Stop/Eb Games and other video game stores to buy toys?
Me neither.
Me neither.

Well it's not like Long haul was a major character or anything.
Also Canopy's body is a Long haul reuse as well with his head design being a combination of his and Jolt's actual movie that looks nothing like the toys head which was never seen that clearly anyways.

So wouldnt a reuse of that toy be more appropriate, with just changing the alt mode parts? They end up independent of the robot mode and end up on his back anyway (in both the toy and model) so retooling ROTF Longhaul makes much more sense.

Alas, now it is all strictly video games and video game-related memorabilia.

Yes. I did it back in the day when EB Games was originally Electronics Boutique (ever wonder what the "EB" part was short for?). They had RiD 2001 toys, Digimon toys, Pokemon toys, imported Japanese Pokemon merchandise, Gundam Wing model kits and toys, Dragon Ball Z toys, a section for VHSs and DVDs, and more.Deadput wrote:Remember when people went to Games Stop/Eb Games and other video game stores to buy toys?

Though I too experienced those two in my own youth, it was the former, rather than the latter, that defined my preschool years.Deadput wrote:Sabrblade wrote:Yes. I want both of these but I will probably have to make a choice at some point. I'll probably wind up getting Megatron because he looks a lot cooler.
On the other hand Hound would be helpful to perform medical treatment on my wallet once these toys hit the shelf.

Funny, I missed out on Long Haul much to my regret (though I'll admit I never liked his sickly pale green very much, the yellow redeco looked much better IMO)- if they do retool him into Onslaught I'd be down for that. We'll probably get a new, simpler mold that simply looks like Long Haul ala Berserker (I can't imagine them taking a mold from 2009 and completely reshelling it) but either way it should be cool. Long Haul is one of my favourite on-screen Movie designs and the opportunity to see more of it is a plus in my book.

The alt-mode definitely looks like something Onslaught would turn into. I know he has a different alt-mode in the movie, but come on, given how cheap last line was, what with them reusing molds from Prime for the smaller guys, they probably would do something dumb like this.
Hope I'm wrong.

It's always interesting when a company tries to branch out into things away from what they're good at, it doesn't do well-and lessens what they're good at, but they keep on going with it anyway. I wonder how soon they'll be on clearance there...

It's not exactly like they're making half of their shop Transformers; these are just a few simple things on the side that they know are popular and they know will sell well. Game shop I went to all the time had a few Pokémon and Sonic plushies at the counter - this is basically the same thing. Strange that this is where it shows up first, but...

It would be stranger if it was at a more established toy store first. Hasbro has sent out all the TLK figures to most stores by now but there is a street date that Hasbro has asked not to be broken. Bigger stores know this. Gamestop doesnt get toys from Hasbro too often, so they are probably unaware and thus have put these in their stores simply because they have them.
So in the end, its not about getting the toys first (all stores have them), its about putting them up for sale first, and thats just due to inexperience.

To be fair, Pokemon and Sonic plushes do technically count as "video game memorabilia". Had it been plushies of non-video game characters, that'd stand out more towards your point.Kurona wrote:It's not exactly like they're making half of their shop Transformers; these are just a few simple things on the side that they know are popular and they know will sell well. Fair, though Transformers does get its fair share of video games. And, well, with both video games and Transformers being big parts of nerd culture; the two have a somewhat similar market. Especially with a big movie coming out - you see this all the time in a ton of shops; getting in merchandise they usually wouldn't sell because they know there's a lot of hype around a movie tied to it. Just look at all the Frozen stuff that's still around...

Has anyone in Britain seen these. TFW2005 has reported finding these new ads for Transformers: The Last Knight Toys in printed media in the UK. We see the CG models of Bumblebee, Sqweeks, Optimus Prime and Drift as well as renders of their toys, which include a bew render for Drift.
Television and Online Commercials will soon appear to promote the toys for their release date of April 24th, 2017. If you come across other commrcials/ads like these, be sure to let us know!

Am I the only one that wants to buy an AOE Drift and a TLK Drift and have them as a "Red Oni/Blue Oni" pair of OCs? I still want to track down a Generations Drift at some point, but the Movieverse toys do look cool with their fusion of modern sports car and ancient samurai armour aesthetics.

Nope, new mold, or at east heavily retooled. His new toy is a Mercedes AMG, his old toy was a Bugatti Veyron.
Substantially different alt modes, and robot mode parts.
Old Deluxe mold, Bugatti:

There are some similarities sure, but it looks like a different mold to me.
