Hasbro Reveals Transformers Shattered Glass Goldbug

Posted by william-james88 Jun 22, 2021 at 12:59pm CDT 33,022 views
Just revealed for #TransformersTuesday! Once a drifter on the streets of Polyhex, Bumblebee worked his way up the Autobot ranks. After a battle left his body wrecked, he was given an upgraded, superior form and identity: Goldbug. He’ll do anything to prove his power to Optimus Prime. By any means necessary.
Pre-order is available NOW on Hasbro Pulse: https://go.hasb.ro/3wNYnK9 Each pack comes with Issue #4 of the Shattered Glass #comicbook miniseries with an exclusive variant cover @cwc_artist

Transformers: Generations Shattered Glass Deluxe Class Autobot Goldbug

(Ages 8 and Up / Approx. Retail Price: $29.99 / Available: December 1, 2021)

The Shattered Glass Collection Deluxe AUTOBOT GOLDBUG figure stands at 5.5 inches tall, converts from robot to sports car mode in 22 steps and comes with a bazooka accessory that attaches in both modes. This GOLDBUG figure's deco is inspired by the Shattered Glass universe, complete with a purple AUTOBOT logo. GOLDBUG was once a young CYBERTRONIAN drifter known as BUMBLEBEE trying to survive on the streets of POLYHEX. After joining the AUTOBOTS, BUMBLEBEE worked his way up the ranks and was soon offered an upgraded form and new identity as GOLDBUG.

The figure also comes with a brand-new comic book, IDW Shattered Glass Issue #4. Shattered Glass isn’t your average TRANSFORMERS tale… “Shards” is the story of the ongoing battle between the power-hungry AUTOBOT autocrats and the freedom-fighting DECEPTICON laborers. Fans can explore this fractured alternate universe just before it shatters with cover art by Casey Coller and interior art by Dan Khana.

Discover a universe that shatters everything you know about the Transformers robots…an upside-down world where the bad guys are good, and the good guys are bad. Welcome to Shattered Glass, an alternate universe where the heroic DECEPTICONS battle the evil AUTOBOTS. Fans can explore this topsy-turvy reality with the TRANSFORMERS Shattered Glass Collection, featuring classic characters with a twist! Look for other Shattered Glass figures to build the ultimate alternate universe collection (each sold separately, subject to availability). GOLDBUG is available for pre-order on HasbroPulse.com beginning June 22, 2021 at 1:00PM EST.

Well I guess that makes him comic accurate when comparing to the tie in comic ;)

Bad lighting as I'm pretty sure that is purple.
It's silver in every image, including the ones with the plain white background.

My guess would be that silver is easier to see then the purple got symbol. Not a big deal though.

You may need to tweak the color settings on your monitor, on mine it's a very light pink. Or it could very well the dress thing again, where people interpret different colors differently.

Always nice to see a new Goldbug. The upgraded Bumblebee has always been one of my all-time favorites.

This one looks purple to me: Image

The symbol looks purple to me. I think it's just the lighting.

TBH, this looks pretty good. Not as buff as the original, but still good. Not going to get it since it just doesn't interest me, but I think they got this one right.

Would a Porsche actually be a good upgrade from a VW Beetle, all things considered?

...okay that deco, especially on the alt mode, looks reeeally good, and the head sculpt is solid...dang it, this was the one that was gonna be a maybe for me and they still got me. Ah well, at least with how modular that mold's weapon set is I know I can differentiate his loadout from my Hubcap and Bugbite.

And with Goldbug out of the way, I'm now done if we're only getting the 5 SG figures from the leaks/rumors and nothing more, since Jetfire is absolutely a hard pass for me no matter how he looks. I didn't want the regular release of that mold, no way I'm gonna suddenly change my mind because they make it more expensive and Skywarp-colored.

It looked silver to me at first too, but after looking at it more now it looks lavender to me, so I'm also inclined to believe it's a light purple that is getting confused for silver.

Honestly, this is probably the reverse of what happened to whatever Hasbro employee looked at Dinobot's silver sword and thought it was purple.

Eh, Earthrise Cliffjumper and Netflix Bumblebee are enough of this mold for my taste...

That's a cool looking figure. Totally worth the $15 ... Oh wait, they're charging WHAT for it?
No thanks.

Also, when are they just going put that head on a gold colored Netflix Bumblebee?

Loving the new SG Goldbug. Although, I would love it more if it was a VW. I pre-ordered, as Goldbug was one of the main figures/characters I need/want after the last few years of getting pretty much everyone else. Been waiting for an announcement for Goldbug from the Netflix Bee mold, but this may have to do. If they actually do announce VW normal Goldbug, I may cancel this. At the very least I could put SG head on Netflix Bee. Pretty excited either way, also for SG Blurr(who will be regular G1 Blurr for me)as these two are the only SG Im getting.

Goldbug looks really good, the colour scheme reminds me of High Octane Bumblebee from Age of Extinction. It's also nice that they managed to get the Goldbug name back, albeit with a name prefix, instead if calling him Goldfire or just Bumblebee. He'll look great next to Optimus and Ratchet!

*sigh*

I preordered him, but… this one should’ve been a Hot Rod retool, not a Cliffjumper. I guess now that that head is part of the tooling, they’ll have an actual, G1-style Goldbug down the road at some point.

People complaining about SG Goldbug being a Cliffjumper retool and not a Hot Rod retool don't seem to be taking into consideration that Hasbro might be thinking of making a proper SG Rodimus which would use that mold. Shattered Glass has a small enough group of figures that they may not want to double dip a mold.

VW may have only licenced the alt mold for one use to be fair (I.e. netflix bee).

Another easy pass. Kinda like the colors but not liking the reuse of Cliffjumper. Will be interested to see which mold they reuse for SG Galvatron

I'm not exactly happy that we're getting Goldbug from the Cliffjumper mold. I personally would have preferred Hot Rod, but if that wasn't an option then I think Runamuck/Runabout would have been better. I think that mold would have been a good choice cause it's a pretty good middle ground between G1 Goldbug and SG Goldbug. Especially since they could remold the faux chest if they wanted to make it accurate
