Interesting that they seem to have taken a few cues from DX9's Carry.

They didn't just take cues from DX9 Carry, it looks like a direct rip off. As a Rodimus fan this disappoints me. A statue has so much potential by not being limited by engineering, and they rip off a 3rd party figure pretty much verbatim.

As a big fan of the character, I am pleasantly surprised by this. In my opinion, it looks really good.

Honestly, of you think about it, all third-party figures are technically rip-offs of official figures. So if they did rip it off, they would be in their right to. I'm not saying that third-party figures are bad by any means, and in my opinion, this isn't a ripoff of the DX9 Carry figure. Does it take cues? Yes. Is it a total ripoff? I don't think so.

I understand that everything is based off of source material. Transformers Toys and products are usually made based off of a toy or cartoon model.

However, this is a company using another companies' unique take on the character to make something that they should have made their own, And considering that it's officially licensed, it just feels wrong.

If I were DX9, I would be mad. It's almost like a first party taking a third party design and stealing it, unless they asked DX9, but that would be an odd move.

It doesn't take much to make a nice design your own by adding your own flair based on the source material. I believe this is a poor choice because I already own Carry, which is DX9's own take on the source material, and would rather see something unique.

This isn't based off DX9-Carry at all.

Its based off the Studio-OX Rodimus art which predates DX9 by many, many years. DX9 used Studio-OX as the inspiration for their Carry toy.

Yes, Carry was inspired by studio OX's design, there is no question of that, but there are noticeable differences; mainly the details on the black "boots" the codpeice, and the chest. This statue plainly copies those. It also clearly copies the pipes that go underneath Carry's forearms that are absent in The Studio OX design. Not to mention what looks like trailer back kibble that can be seen behind the statue's head.

Image

No, the statue isn't EXACT, but the details on Carry are awfully close for it to be a coincidence, thats all i'm saying.

I can see that now. I guess since when I looked, I mostly saw the Studio-OX instead of Carry, that the Carry details didn't stick out so much. :)

Another teaser from Imaginarium Art Facebook page, as they ask potential fans to decide what to include in a new diorama for their licensed Generation 1 line of figures (after Soundwave and Rodimus). It looks like Kup is definitely in, but they are undecided about Arcee and Ultra Magnus - give them a hand after checking out the mockups below.

We need you to decide!! Devastator attacking Autobot City Diorama, please vote 1 or 2, with Arcee or Ultra Magnus?

After being revealed here, it seems the final design for the Autobot City diorama been decided. Via Imaginarium Art's Facebook page we get a look at who was chosen to fight alongside Kup.

It looks like the fans have spoken and chosen Ultra Magnus to fight Devastator among the ruins of Autobot City, take a look at the picture below.

This is such a weird statue, at first it showed Maketoys green giant. Now it's more G1 Devastator but with IDW Magnus and cartoon Kup.

Looks cool thought!

Yes, This is a diorama Statue, Due to the size of Devastator, a standalone is too big going according to scale, Imaginarium Art (IA) decide to create a Diorama Scene for this product

Hi I am Danny, Owner of Imaginarium Art (IA), you mentioned we had a direct rip off for this design from DX9? Being a new license for us, we are studying the best, relevant and most popular poses that we can make. As you all may know, our design is carefully picked with IDW's Comic Artist, within our team and our fans.

But mentioning ripping off like a copy and paste is a no no for me. our fan base is not big right now but however, i am sure our fans in IA's Facebook would have told us about this. so far, we have not heard it. I am shocked to see this comment :BANG_HEAD:

However, we welcome all feedbacks on our design, please send your feedback to us and let us know, feedback@imaginarium-art.com.

It has been a while since we last heard from Imaginarium Art and their licensed G1 Rodimus statue, but we now do have an update via their Facebook page, showing some more work in progress on the sculpt design. Check out the mirrored images below!

Some close-up shots of the second character from our Transformers G1 line. Rodimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots who gained the Matrix of Leadership after the death of Optimus Prime.

As earlier postings showed, we got some interesting poses lined up for him. Now, take a closer look at these work in progress images of the definitive Rodimus Prime.

Also from Cybertron Con 2016, and not from Hasbro this time, is some news in the form of statues from Imaginarium Art - which we knew of for Soundwave and Hot Rod, but not for the Ultra Magnus figure seen below! Check out both some more Soundwave with cassettes (..sigh, Ravage..), and the Enforcer himself, courtesy of usual Weibo suspect 52toys.

These statues look great.... but they don't look all that much better than the Masterpiece toys of the same characters, don't transform and will probably cost significantly more.

I just don't see the point unless they can make these statues really affordable.
