Investors Day Offers Some Info on Rise of the Beasts Toyline and Film

The "Big" Hasbro investors event was today but sadly, there wasn't much in it for fans. There was indeed a trailer for Rise of the Beasts but it was a closed door event, it wasn't released for the general public. There were a few slides pertaining to Rise of the Beasts. They unveiled Optimus's "new" look, which is mostly the look we had already seen both in Bumblebee and in previously revealed merchandise. The big difference are those plates above his chest windows. Speaking of movies, Hasbro anounced that they renewed their partnership with Paramount for Transformers and GI Joe films.

We also have a very tiny image of a mock up for a ROTB retail standee, with a big Optimus cutout. Hasbro is going hard on merchandise and toys for both the ROTB film and Earthspark, as can be seen on one of the slides below. Both toylines are aimed at children, while there will be some ROTB characters in the Studio Series line that older fans can also enjoy alongside kids.

Speaking of Earthspark, it was confirmed that the show will have a second season coming as well, and the same slide showing us the ROTB cutout also has out first look at Spin Changer Optimus' alt mode. And in other Transformers media news, they confirmed that there is still an animated Transformers movie coming out in 2024. We have selected the images and slides that may be of importance below. Some of the images come from TFW2005.com.

Saw this on some Youtbe comments; nice to see that Optimus is still doing similar poses as before.

I have hopes for the animated '24 movie.

RoTB will be a streaming viewing in a couple of years, I just don't have any enthusiasm for it at all. So far only Scourge intrigues me. Maybe future reveals will change that.

Pretty much same with Earthspark. If I like it once it's out, I might get into it. So far, no vibes at all, good or bad.

While so far we have seen Smash and Change Optimus Prime in stores, we just got news that there will be at least 2 more toys like this coming out for the Rise of the Beasts (or Cyberverse line). Whichever line they are packaged in, they will definitely be the Rise of the Beasts designs, at least the preliminary ones. Thanks to a report from Silver Optimus, we know we will get a Rhinox and Optimus Primal done in the same gimmick/style. It will be interesting to see how animals are done in this gimmicky transformation of smashing down a figure. Below are the listings for the toys in this subgroup. They are all currently on US shores though we do not know when Primal and Rhinox will appear at retail.

Brett Rothe has posted a quick transformation video of Rise of the Beasts deluxe Airazor on youtube. They reached out to us directly to inform us and we thank them for the heads up. The transformation is quite ingenious since it completely removes a large chunk of the wings from the robot mode by having a part of them become the robot mode legs. This would have been a better transformation for making both Kingdom Airazor and Terrorsaur more cartoon accurate since their robot modes on the show had their wings either reduced or completely removed.

"What Was Michael Bay thinking when he made the original Transformers series?"

Bay did not make the movie designs. He was not the sole person in charge of everything.

You know everyone likes to blame him for everything despite their being many, many hands in the pot. The only major script decisions people can blame on him is Revenge of the Fallen since he finished the script due to the writers strike of 08

He's always been the face of those movies and he has chosen it to be that way. So I get why people keep blaming him for everything.

Now does this mean it can also be seen as him shielding everyone (even if inadvertently) from the abuse?

Nah, just as yet another example of people needing one single scapegoat to focus on because paying attention to the multiple(!), more obvious causes is so not done >:oP

It's not intentional, but we know he doesn't mind getting the blame for it. He's beyond it all as is demonstrated with him still involved with the brand and films while not shying away from letting us know.

If RoTB ends up the sub-par production I expect it to be, I won't be blaming Bay much, just a little. I think he deserves the majority of the blame for RoTF only. The other films are equally the result of everyone's efforts.

The collectible retailer site Zavvi had a banner image up which has since been taken down, promoting the new Transformers toys for Rise of the Beasts. On it we see Battletrap and Bumblebee figures. This is our first look at the new Bumblebee toy and while it seems to have a similar level of detail to previous Studio Series toys, there are two lines with movie deluxes coming out at a similar time, so it's not confirmed in which line he will be released. While we see Bumblebee in his robot mode, we can tell that his alt mode is the off road Camaro which he becomes later in the film.

There are a few newsworthy bits to take from this single picture. Firstly, the head sculpt features parts not seen on Bumblebee's head in the trailer, which include his antennas and side vents. So that means that either he had not finished transforming in the trailer, or that this face sculpt is based on an older character model.

Also, these being official renders means that their announcement is soon. Or at least, one would hope since we had renders of a new Hatchet and Hound figure for months and they are still not revealed. So we'll see.

Let us know what you think of this new toy and if you'd add it to your collection!

Hatchet still looking really nice.

BB, looks like they took Bumblebee Movie BB and mashed it up with 2007 Bay Movie BB and got this.

It looks fairly simple though.

Here’s more pics of Bee, showing his accessories and pics of alt mode, which has stripes on the roof that are not on the actual Camaro in the movie.

I think this BB looks great, like a chunkier, more solid version of the regular junker Camaro we have. I'm excited to see the rally-ready alt mode.
