We have a lot more Transformers Wild King for you. Below is a video revealing the toyline. We also have high res images of the new toys. The multiple shots of the limb bots reveal that they are all the same core mold with different animal parts attached. Those parts can be detached and reattached, as part of the partsforming gimmick which is usually seen more in Bandai's Super Sentai lines.
We also have Amazon Japan links. These are available to be ordered by fans in the west. The toys aren't cheap though, with the main Optimus and Megatron sets coming in at around $50 USD, before shipping and possible tariffs. As of right now, that Optimus Prime set is the number 1 best seller in action figures on the site. Also, as of now this seems to be a Japanese exclusive line.

Yeah, probably to streamline the arm/leg transformation combination.

Yeah, probably to streamline the arm/leg transformation combination.
The animal legs actually use mushroom joints so they're easily swapped out during production, the robot heads may be as well with a different type of joint like a ball, while the only parts meant to be detachable are the heads and tails. In fact, we may see mold pairings as the Mammoth and Triceratops share leg molds (and the back legs have two feet). Almost feels like Machine Robo Mugenbine, except with less parts.
There seems to be an elemental part to as well, with Fire, Water, Leaf and Lightning. Interesting

Looking at Optimus and Megatron, not too bad. I see the legs become the shoes in Combined Mode... but where do the arms go?

I'm guessing they're stored inside the legs/feet. But they're also double pegged so they can probably go the shoulders as an alternative since none of the beasts seem to use those holes yet.

Transformers: Wild King

https://tf.takaratomy.co.jp/tf_wild_king/about/

What are TRANSFORMERS?
Metallic life forms that transform into vehicles such as cars and tanks, as well as living creatures such as giraffes and Tyrannosaurus Rex!

What is WILD KING?
The story takes place on Elementros, a planet with unknown powers. The main character, Optimus Prime, descends upon this land in pursuit of his ally, Megatron. There, Optimus encounters a giraffe-like Transformer named "Lightlong", who is an Energy Beast. According to Lightlong, the Energy Beasts, which take the form of animals and dinosaurs that live on Elementros, possess the power of five attributes called "Element Energy": fire, water, earth, nature, and lightning. Then, Megatron suddenly attacks. With the power of their bond, Optimus and Lightlong awaken the ability to transform and combine via "Wildocking". Optimus joins forces with the animals, while Megatron commands the dinosaurs. What will be their fate...?!

Energy Master OPTIMUS PRIME
The dependable leader of the righteous Autobot army. He was once in conflict with Megatron, the leader of the evil Decepticon army, but they have now reconciled and are cooperating with each other. Megatron sets off ahead in search of the power to protect his homeworld, but his communications suddenly cut off, and Optimus sets out in pursuit of him. Optimus arrives on the unknown planet of Elementros, where he meets the unique Energy Beasts, and through their bonding he acquires a new ability, "Wildocking", to stop the rampage of Megatron and the dinosaurs!

Energy Master MEGATRON
The powerful leader of the evil Decepticon army. He has now made peace with Optimus Prime, the leader of the righteous Autobot army, and has been building up their strength to protect their mutual home planet, Cybertron. One day, he discovers the planet Elementros, which is said to have unknown powers, and decides to arrive there ahead of the others. By the time Optimus arrived at the planet in pursuit of Megatron, he had already acquired a new ability: "Wildocking". What is the purpose of the ferocious dinosaurs that are closing in on Optimus...?!

He is the leader of the dinosaurs, and is trying to verify a certain legend passed down among the dinosaur tribe...!

Energy Beast LEAFBACK
A Triceratops-type Transformer who is extremely straight-laced and hates any and all crookedness. He possesses "Grass Energy" within his body, allowing him to control the power of nature. His rushing power is No. 1 among the dinosaurs, on par with that of Drillnohorn. He trusts Captain Volca, and was invited by him to meet Megatron. For some reason, he believes that the more horns one has, the smarter they are...!

On the web page for the Megatron/Captain Volca toy 2-pack, it says that Megatron channels the power of Wildocking through his transformation cog.Emerje wrote:I do like the design aesthetic of Optimus basically having his power through a Matrix in his chest, but whatever Megatron is doing is chained to his chest. So I guess that's some sort of harness he's MacGyvering to his chest then.

I mentioned that earlier in the thread, but that's far more than most figures like these get. Even Studio Series doesn't have particularly great parts storage for weapons and limbs. Can't help but think there's more to it.

It's not a perfect translation, used Google Translate to start (just to make things faster and more efficient for me) and then used my own (admittedly more on the limited side) knowledge of Japanese + some small artistic license to clean up the translations and make them easier for a native English speaker to read. Feel free to throw any feedback at me on it and I'll fix whatever I need to.

Why would they be subject to the Chinese tariff if imported from Japan? Won't it just be the blanket 10%?

The tariffs are for the items' country of origin, meaning the country they're manufactured in, not where they're sold from.william-james88 wrote:Emerje wrote:I don't think we really appreciated how big these figures are until we saw these pictures. Regardless, it's not US made so...
Anyway, I just love Canada's hypocrisy that complain about Trump's tariffs when they are tariffing themselves. They impose mandatory taxes on all eBay purchases and if anyone import anything that is worth above 100$, bang, we get hit.
Anyway, the base price of these things are pretty expensive so I don't want to pay taxes and shipping on top of that.

But that's not a tariff. That's just sales tax which the US also has, as does the UK (VAT) and most other countries.
Sure we also get a 10$ admin fee, but that's not a tariff either. A tariff is an additional percentage fee on top of the sales tax. Canada does not have that on items imported from Japan.

You know, I wondered if Takara might have made these with the hope that Hasbro would jump in with them only for Hasbro to decide to do Cyberworld instead. I wouldn't rule out Hasbro repurposing Wild King figures for Cyberworld later if they're in such a convenient place for them make use of, they seem like they could aesthetically fit in together, not like these lines care about scale.

The thing is, the basic concept behind Wildocking is supposed to emphasize bonds forged between individuals from very different walks of life. They're not supposed to be a uniform combiner team.Brokebot wrote:I think I'd be far more interested in this if Prime and Megatron weren't involved. Admittedly, I know nothing of this line other than the photos, but all the animal forms attached to a vehicle themed robot has the feel of a middle aged white dude in a 3-piece suit wearing native war paint or Polynesian tattoos. I think a beast mode leader would look far better and more cohesive, but that's just me, I guess.
Think of it kind of like those Japanese G1 Combiner combinations made from members of different Scramble City Combiner teams: Abomenaticus, Comperian, Cybertron Super Scramble, Destron Super Scramble, Scramble 7, and Volcaticon.
In a way, the story feels a lot like an isekai, with Optimus and Megatron being two vehicular Transformers from the technologically advanced world of Cybertron who find themselves in the very different, much more primitive jungle world of Elementros that's fully inhabited by tribes of animal-themed Transformers. There's a great sense of culture clash with the Energy Beasts being amazed by Optimus and Megatron's otherworldliness, while they themselves try to get a better sense of what this world is like and what their role in this world is to be. There is a strong "fish out of water" theme that is further emphasized by the vehicular nature of Optimus and Megatron in this world of jungle beasts.
