More New Transformers Listings for 2022 with lots of Soundwave

Voltrace, the same person who found many listings in the Target database, took the time to check for some more. They searched for characters this time around and found a new Optimus Prime and a Galvatron, the later of which is most probably a repack of Kingdom. They did find not one but 2 Soundwaves. We are not certain of the exact line for each.

• Soundwave ($29.99)
• Soundwave ($26.99)
• Starscream ($29.99)
• Galvatron ($49.99)
• Optimus Prime ($49.99)
• Optimus Prime (9.99)
• Arcee ($22.99)

Still as I said above if they are goign to do it all over yet again, I feel sorry for SW fans. Also if Blaster indeed got bumped from Legacy to late Kingdom (presumbaly will scale with WFC Soundwave), then again, making a whole new scale for soundwave and minions makes even less sense.

I disagree with a bunch of these contentions. Battle Masters scale isn't to scale with the animation size charts. He can't be screen-accurate and fit WfC Soundwave's chest. But that's because of the size changing with those figures: Just as Soundwave and the tapes aren't to scale with their human-sized alt modes, the robots aren't to scale with each other.

Does that mean they'll make a Soundwave that's oversized? Will they make tapes that aren't compatible with his chest, maybe with a faux robot chest but functional alt-mode tray? Who knows, but I can't imagine that they'll use the WfC tapes for all the reasons discussed earlier.

Personally, I'm currently solving for this in my collection by using Legends-scale TR Rumble and Frenzy with the WfC lineup and WfC Frenzy and Rumble with the Core class figures. I'm generally forgiving on scale anyway, though, so it's not a big deal to me one way or another.

I believe the $26 one will be because that's what Target in the US charges for SS figures

A new Galvatron would interest me even if it's not an improved ss86 version but it's likely a repack :( just hope if it's from another generation of transformers they give him all his alt modes.

My money's on an SS86 Soundwave and a Soundblaster repaint of Netflix Soundwave.

Why would they make such a pointless & unnecessary change like that? I was looking all over for the blue version. :-x
It's because of the hood.

Both of the Diaclone pre-Bluestreaks had hoods that were different colors from the rest of the car's body (blue w/ a silver hood and silver w/ a black hood), which made them both look like those old broken cars that use replacement parts from other cars that don't match the rest of the car.

Apparently, Hasbro didn't want their Bluestreak to look like an old broken car with a replaced hood, so they took the silver hood from the blue car and put it on the silver car to create a new uniform design with a matching car and hood, nixing the silver car's original black hood in the process. Evidently, this decision came too late in the game for the packaging to be changed, but not too late for the comics and cartoon to both switch to the silver character design before release.

That said, however, it seems the cartoon somehow got a look at the original Diaclone silver car w/ black hood deco instead of the new all-silver deco, since the cartoon model for Bluestreak used the black hood instead of the new silver one, like how the cartoon also used Diaclone blue Swoop instead of Swoop's new red coloring meant to make him better resemble the other Dinobots who also used red as a secondary color. The comics, on the other hand, did use the all-silver Bluestreak and red Swoop as per their toys.

Voyager class. Sorry, thought I included that, but I was also just waking up so I guess I forgot that important part

The differences in comic and cartoon color accuracy are probably a result of respective production lead times. Cartoons take way longer to produce, and that includes coloring. Plus, the amount of people involved means that once something is on a character sheet, it's set in stone for the episodes that are already going into production. Comics take a shorter time to produce and are colored by only one person, who wasn't particularly detail oriented or meticulous in The Transformers' case, so you can put any coloring change in effect as soon as you notice it's happened. It's a bit weird though, given how Yomtov crearly didn't give a damn when coloring stuff.

Yeah, you can see from his early model colors that there was a transition between the Diaclone blue deco and the new all-silver deco that changed the silver hood to blue to make it uniform, but then switched to all-silver before finalizing the design with the Diaclone silver w/ black hood deco:

If Hastak gives us a solid SS86 Soundwave first, people won’t care as much.

How would SS86 Soundwave differ from the Netflix Soundwave released last year?

All they really need to do is tighten up the deco and paint apps. Match the yellow/gold of the tape door with the stripes on the robot chest. Put the red pin stripes on the wrists and the batteries. Remove the silver detailing on the shoulders, and voila! The Netflix release remains a distinct exclusive and fans that miss out have a shot at the same mold, with a more screen accurate deco and paint apps, at the cost of not getting the Netflix exclusive retool/redeco of Laserbeak and Ravage.

Leaker clarifications regarding the new listings:
-Galvatron is indeed a Kingdom repack (the PR in the listing stands for package refresh)
-Sky-Byte is a Cyberverse figure getting a repack, hence the price point
-The $26.99 Soundwave is the Bumblebee movie Soundwave (Target prices their SS listings lower than mainline Generations, plus we already knew he was coming)
-No clue on the Starscream or the $9.99 Optimus (my best guess is that Optimus is a Core repack because he's Optimus, and Screamer is an old listing that got swept up the new listings fervor like what happened with ER Astrotrain during last year's big Target listings leak)

Now the big ones:
-$29.99 Soundwave is a mainline Legacy rerelease of Netflix Soundwave, unknown if he comes with the cassettes or not
-$49.99 Optimus is NOT another rerelease of the ER one or the rumored Prime one (which I assume will be Voyager class due to the Bulkhead rumor retool), but in fact a "retool" (read: only seems to reuse the legs) of said ER Optimus with a new trailer to turn it into Laser Prime, apparently he still has a Matrix as well

May as well start saving up for him and the inevitable Scourge repaint. Wallet gonna hurt.

I was.

I own the Velocitron set and its G2 Laser Prime.

That does not stop me from wanting another one that may look better, and does not need to have a plane mode and has a detachable tanker trailer.

Heck I own R.I.D Scourge, Universe Combat Hero Prime and Velocitron TR Prime. Would not mind adding one more to that set.

We'll see if that lasts. With the voyager class getting a price bump in 2022 (we already see it for SS86 Sweep), that $26 for a voyager at Target is nearing their wholesale purchase price.

Regarding the Energon Monster, what if it's another, more obscure energy-related character? Aside from the already-mentioned Kreemzeek and Energon Terrorcons (which might come in hand with the Rise Of The Beasts movie), from the top of my head I can think of Chaos from the titular Kup-centric episode, the Dweller from the Trans-Organics, and the Demons from Marvel comics (thought the former two are unlikely; Chaos has no transformation and both should be Leader of Commander class at least)
Nuclearxpotato wrote:
Nemesis Primal wrote:-Core Energon Monster (the presence of Armada Screamer strengthens my theory that this is some kind of Energon Terrorcon if it isn't something completely new like the Fossilizers)

My current theory is that "Energon Monsters" are Core class Weaponisers / Battlemasters / Armour. We know there's a Pretender homage in Legacy so this will probably that. I'm betting they'll be transparent "energon" figures of the Pretender shells that can be taken apart and put on Deluxe figures. There's also rumours of "Energon Hunters" which I'm guessing are the Autobot pretender shells.

If the Decepticon shells are relegated to Core class exclusivity while the Autobots get Deluxe+ I will be incredibly pissed. Autobot Pretenders are incredibly worse than Decepticon Pretenders.

Kennyk69 wrote:How about Monstructor!

This, I am 100% behind. Especially if Mostructor/Dinoking cam use their shells as additional armor in their combined mode.
Then again, I just want a proper update of the Pretender concept: more articulated shells and robots and more believable alt-modes with better transformations than "lie flat on the ground with the legs over your back". Any other gimmick is just an incentive as long as it doesn't distract from the core concept, and I definitely don't want a repeat of the Prime Masters, where they mixed two things different groups wanted (toys of the Thirteen and updated Pretenders) to please neither, and forgot the Pretender gimmick for half the characters.

That Octane mold just never did it for me, especially not the Optimus versions (though granted, I was still waiting for a good Optimus since the Classics mold... which Siege fixed). I've wanted a new Laser Prime for one reason (two really) the redecos. Scourge is all but guaranteed with his Live-action debut in RotB and Toxitron is perfect Selects fodder.

It was a bit bland and had its issues. But overall not terrible as Laser Prime in Robot mode.

But a well made version with detachable tanker would be awesome.

Did not know Scourge was coming for RotB. Should be interesting to see.
