New Video Review of Transformers Selects Transmutate

Posted by -Kanrabat- May 1, 2021 at 1:35pm CDT 29,590 views
Greetings Seibertronians!
Prime VS Prime once again deliver with a video review of Generations Select Transmutate!

This repaint and slight remold of Kingdom Paleotrex have a new head that represent the original Beast Wars tragic character. Another big change is also those "radioactive" shiny green parts all over her body.

Of course, she's a weaponizer so she can disassemble into parts to combine with your regular WFC Generations figures, and can be reconfigured in many shapes, true to the misshapen original.

Are you exited for this release? Or would you prefer a more "accurate" version instead of "just another repaint of an existing bot"?

Let us know!

More Bots. More News. More Awesome.

I'm not into the figures like this at all...
I can't really think of a past gimmick that I like at all outside of combiners.
Also, I wonder just how much the fossilizers appeal to younger kids, if at all.
Surely some of the dino-related appearances do, but even then, who knows.

So, given that it's RID 2001's 20th anniversary, what are the odds that we get a Hasbro Selects release of the Ruination figure from UW?

It had already happened but the possibilities to re-release it with improved hands and feet, along maybe a bonus accessory or two are very high. At the bare minimum, a Bruticus.

This would require hasbro to acknowledge CR/RiD2001. Best we're going to get for a while I nods like Siege UM alt mode.

He had a proper hands and feet, unless you mean "HFG". Personally I prefer the hands and feet he got from Computron, makes him look like more of a bruit compared to Bruticus.

However, if they wanted to do a proper Ruination in Hasbro colors instead of Baldigus I could perhaps be convinced to buy it again.

Why Hasbro? So far, the Select combiners are ALL Takara endeavor like the original UW Ruination.

Each times Takara did a Select combiner, it always come with new hands and feet, no HFG, plus some new parts.

Still, I expect Bruticus to be re-released first before the way less popular Ruination.

True, I thought you had just meant Hasbro in the first place

Though takara is probably waiting (along with Hasbro) to see how the new Menasor does...then we'll be getting a new Bruticus anyway

If TT was going to use that mold one more time for a selects release,I'd rather they go wit a new deco -Battle Gaia ( and Guard City by extension). There are still several combiners left to release before they start over again

If Takara was going to do anything for that series's 20th anniversary, they would have done it last year, not this year. For Takara, 2020 was the 20th anniversary since Car Robots came out in 2000. It was only in Hasbro's markets that RiD'01 came out in 2001. This is a show that has two separate anniversary years on different sides of the Pacific.

Also, Kanra:

I actually remember seeing fan-dubbed episodes of Car Robots back when I first got high-speed cable off of some streaming site I think was called Sputnik-7. This was just a bit before RiD 2001 was officially dropped. Good times. Something tells me Hasbro doesn't care though.

Why should Hasbro care? Car Robo / RID was just a filler line with 90% of the toys released were repaints of previous lines. Plus the fanbase is very minor.

If there's any omages or remakes in the work for a new series, the Unicron Trilogy would most likely take priority.

Well, it was Hasbro who did the new-mold Sky-Byte toy back in Thrilling 30 (of course, that was a different Hasbro team, but still).

And, ironically, it was the Hasbro RID toyline that was way more of a smash hit success compared to how smaller and short lived Takara's Car Robots line was in Japan, with the Hasbro line even getting a successor line in the 2003 Universe line. ;)

We don't even really know if we're getting a complete redo of Menasor at this point. We only heard rumors of a new Leader Class (or Voyager Class?) Motormaster. We don't even know if it will combine. My guess, though, is that he will at least have his more classic double-trailer truck alternate mode. Of all the Combiner Wars characters (that classically were combiners), Motormaster was perhaps the most off-model compared to his G1 look.

And haven't we seen some of the molds in the Selects Manga? Yellow Convoy comes from RiD 2001, no?

He's supposed to be the opposite of Optimus. The cab is his feet or maybe just some shoes while the trailer is the actual robot.

Exactly. All of the other torso bots from G1, like Silverbolt, Hot Spot, Onslaught, Scattershot, and Hun-Gurr, don't really stick out as being drastic departures from their cartoon models or original G1 toys, not quite like Motormaster, who was saddled with having to be a co-tooling with Optimus Prime in Combiner Wars. If no other classic torso bot is redone after Motormaster for a long while, I won't be disappointed. The only combiner TEAMS that might need a complete redo in the more near future might be Devastator and/or Predaking, for collectors who want versions of those two that scale better with the rest of the modern "Generations" styled combiners.

While I'm not exactly chomping at the bit for new Car Robots/RiD Toys, I wouldn't mind. I go against the grain in that I enjoy that single 39 episode series FAR MORE than anything in the UT. Also YES- I remember a fan dub of CR before RiD aired in the U.S. as well. I don't think they did all the episodes, as I only ever saw the first one, I could be wrong though.

Lastly, wasn't there a 3P Motormaster that was more accurate to the original, and was compatible with CW?

Yes, but that was just a repurpose of the existing Sam's Club toy from 2003.

Looks like Pulse just charged my account for Selects Volcanicus. So guesstimating by their usual processing time, and shipping to get to me on the west coast, hopefully I should have it in about 10 days.

Just got Spin-Out and Cordon and the Sunstreaker mold is really nice. Had an issue with my Spin-Out's left hip having some mold flash that made it almost impossible to move, but I managed to rotate it enough that the mold flash popped off with no damage occurring, not even a sress mark (definitely not the best way to handle it, but I thought it was glued in place initially :HEADHURTS: )
