It still looks silly but much better than the one produced, a less alien insect looking face and actual hands.

Yep, I too like the head and hands on this one much better than the actual movie Ratchet.

Too bad that can't be Ironhide.

I think it looks spiffy, in a "level guardian from Megaman" kind of way. Emerald Twilight over on the 2005 boards (who I gather is in the know about such things) said that the second Ratchet voyager in the new set of movie toy listings was in "G1 Inferno colours". Could it be this? Passed off as a "previous form" or suchlike? I'd buy it.

Post 23, if anyone's wondering:

Wow. That looks pretty cool. Make it a van and it could be Ironhide. A little slim, though.

I give it a 7/10.

Looks like design cues from Bubblegum Crisis, or Ghost in the Shell.

I rather like it!

It's not great, not by a long chalk, but it does retain more of Ratchets orignial colours and a head sculpt that bears a passing resemblance to G1 Ratchet. This design appears to more along the same lines as the Bumblebee and Prime designs, a radical update and redesign but retaining features of the original character. I'd have been more comfortable with this Ratchet than the one chosen.

Much better....

One a second thought, this could do a good Red Alert! Dunno why, but Brawl is the Police car so....

this is much better looking has some g1 style to it head and hands are good decent now if only the others looked more like this it really be a big hit it really is sad on how things turn out for the worse maybe if they were smart they would have had true transformer fan on the set designs would be better than the ones we have now its ironic two americans created transformers and now transformers might be trashed by one american.

I think he looks a lot better than the design they went with but then again, it doesn't take much to look better than a pukey green/yellow rescue hummer that turns into a giant bird-headed monster.

I completely agree, i felt the Movie Ratchet was too brawny and bulky and not like the original.. I wish this was the design chosen
