Onslaught on the other hand we partially know what to expect as he is a retool of Hotspot, however, we can see that due to Bruticus' chest shield, the Combaticon leader has gained wings! Take a look for yourselves in the images below!

We need to start a petition to hasbro to at least make an evil version of that mold, as the combined mode head and 'beast' mode scream / (evil) to me.

And Brawl looks fantastic! Even if I don't get the other Combaticons (though I hope to get the UW release, wallet, space and mother providing) I'll definitely get Brawl. I love me a good tank...

Yes, but I was talking about Onslaught. Is it too much to hope for a proper cannon battery?

That's honestly my only complaint about combiner wars, the reuse of weapons. I honestly don't mind the mold reuses but the weapon reuse choice is a little annoying.

Agreed. Cyclonus having Silverbolt's weapon is kinda irritating.

I suspect we'll see a third party cannon assembly for him. I don't mind it too much though, I mean, we can always just use other guns.

That one I wouldn't mind so much if they at least painted it orange

Why's onslaught got a red head? I don't know what to make of that! but hopefully Takara will bring their version out & it won't have a red head.

These are just prototype shots. Obviously, we will see the real colors popping up eventually, as the rest of the combaticons.

I do wish he came with new and better cannons, but at the same time I am very glad we are getting a proper gun shockwave and that he'll work with this set. That excites me to no end

Yeah but how many times did Bruticus actually use Shockwave as a gun? Most of the time it used an up-sized version of Onslaughts gun.

Seconded. As long as it's not a Decepticon holding an Autobot, it's cool.

I'll be honest, I'd rather have a G1-ized version of Underbite. Though I'd imagine just for saying that, I'm not gonna be popular around here.

I'd say yeah RTS Lugnut is a bit less Movie looking than the older style Lockdown or Mindwipe are though. But looking at some of toys of that era I can see some elements to them that does distance them a bit from the absolute Movie style especially on some of the scouts.
RTS Lugnut featuring in the United brand sort of cements him as a CHUG a bit more too I guess, but that a Movie Optimus Prime was also sold in the same style I don't think you can 100% nail down HFTD or RTS to one set thing in all cases.
Heck I even use Mindset as a Classics toy even though I know that is a bit silly as he's the wrong faction/colour and has a movie look to him - but Mindset was a G2 character so I sort of feel it makes "some sense" to do so.
-------
I'm still not 100% sure yet how Combiner Wars will play out long term, will it be seen just as a continuation of Generations or as a Prelude to Titan Wars.
Also if Titan wars might prove to distance itself from the Generations subset themes into a movie child-friendly gimic line of it's own over time.
That may depend on how the animation handles it I guess how it's seen long term.

It is actually working out to where I am giving cyclonus' weapon to Defensor and Cyclonus gets a left over blaster

And with how different Sky Lynx is from Underbite, Underbite would be best getting his own mold for such an endeavor.

Oh so do I. This might be the best Shockwave we've gotten in a long while.

Reveal the Shield Lugnut IS a movie character, actually...from the 1986 The Transformers: The Movie, that is!
The RtS "Battle in Space" Rodimus and Cyclonus two-pack came with a comic book called "Rodimus vs. Cyclonus," made by IDW no less, that details some events of the 1986 animated movie and adds a "deleted scene" of sorts that takes place while Hot Rod and Kup rendezvous with Ultra Magnus' team on Planet Junk after commandeering a Quintesson vessel.
What does this have to do with Lugnut? He's depicted as fighting among the Decepticon ranks in the comic, at Autobot City and a few other scenes (I believe). Check this out, courtesy of TFWiki:
So, there you go. RTS Lugnut is a retroactively a G1 character, and so can be considered part of the "Classics/Universe 2.0/Generations" line of figures. Oh, and as RAR pointed out above, he's also in the Transformers United line from Takara Tomy. Need any more proof?
By the way, it would be nice if Lugnut's Seibertron.com gallery were moved to the correct subheading in RTS/Transformers 2010.

Something was bugging me about this retcon. If this occured during Galvatron's raid on Autobot City and he included Devastator, again(?).
It must have been a fast raid. So while Devs was stomping around Autobot City, do you think Galvatron waited (?) for Devs to finish before pursuing Kup and UM's team? Out of character as Galvs must have immediately pursued those two escaping shuttles.
Why'd I split hairs? 'cause in Junkion, Scavenger was also among the raiding party together with Sharpnel harassing Daniel in his Exo-Suit.

He has exactly five remolded parts. The head, each wing, the cockpit, and the vertical stabilizer. Not even remotely worth it. Unfortunately, they are probably going to release the rest of the Technobots at some point (probably with a retool/repaint of Deluxe Groove as Afterburner), so then I will end up needing this waste of plastic to complete him.Burn wrote:meh ... seems too similar to Silverbolt for my liking.

The combiner head isn't included in the prototype.
Normally you'd see the antennae poking out of just under Silverbolt's/Scattorshot's chest, but there's just empty holes there.
If the head was just a straight-up repaint of Superion, I don't see why it would be excluded from the Prototype. Just some food for thought.

From the figures shown at Botcon, the combiner head IS just a straight up recolor of Superion's head. And by recolor I mean...not changed at all.

One can only hope. It would bring his parts changed to six in an era of complete reshells.
