We also have to remember that other factors, like very strong streaming numbers and toy sales, could help greenlight a sequel. Though that means it will take more time for Paramount to make the decision, hence the talk of a sequel now being on the back burner rather than in production.

Jason: Yeah.
Sixo: --and like nobody knows - if you were to come back, is there more ideas in the tank, ready to go, or...?
Jason: Oh my gosh, Josh has the whole second movie already outlined.
Hosts: Oh wow
Jason: He's already talking to me, or spoke to specific aspects of things for the second film that are... ten times crazier, more amazing than the first film?
Liam: That's what we like to hear!
Jason: Yeah, it breaks my heart that it's not performing because that's gonna take a very long time to get here.
Sixo: Yeah.
Jason: Because it's now, it's gonna be like probably put on the backburner because, y'know, the box office didn't justify the story. We need fans like yourselves to keep spreading the gospel that this thing needs to be made, because, um... I'm just patiently waiting for my chance to fight on Cybertron again!

A third movie I thought of, Quintesson Conspiracy, has the Quintessons strike at the worst moment, taking either the faction leaders or a huge chunk of both teams, forcing Optimus and Megatron to set aside their differences and find ways to defeat the invaders with the help of the spirit of Quintus Prime, who will show regret in creating the Quintessons and will not be repeating yet another true villain twist. I also thought of an idea where Prime and the spirit of Quintus must merge together to defeat the mother brain of the Quintessons, but at the cost of Optimus's own life (Megatron could also die so both factions could now live peacefully as their leaders wanted).
I feel like a lot of ideas for sequels to TFOne would range from insane to awesome, especially since the movie itself feels so vanilla and been-there-done-that a la second-rate animated films, tone/character/story-beat wise. Shame a lot of people see it as how I described it and let it underperform, even with a desperate gimmick account's word of mouth.

Better do so quick. It's already on its way out.Triceratops3 wrote:I hope to see this film just one more time in theaters.

I loved this movie. It was really good, really fun, and very solid.
It's also funny, because my 2 favorite TF movies are the 2 with Sentinel Prime in them.
I loved the cogless and the whole setup for the miners. I loved the Orion Pax speech to them too, getting them motivated and slowly growing into his own.
D-16 was done so well, I legitimately love this version of Megatron. They did him great.

I feel like it would make sense to have the second movie deal with the Quintessons and the third movie deal with the Autobots vs Decepticons.
My thoughts:
As far as we know, the Quintessons still control the surface. There's no reason they would have relinquished control. It's not like they would be scared of the Autobots when they held their own for a long war, defeated the Primes, and have all the Energon they could need.
The second movie feels like it could be Autobots AND Decepticons (separately) battling the Quintessons to reclaim the surface while also dealing with a Cold War tensions between the two factions as they gain territory on the surface.
The third movie feels like it would need to be Autobots vs Decepticons as the grand finale. You can't have a proper War for Cybertron without reclaiming Cybertron first.

Do they, though? They got a big load of it in this film, but the Quintesson talking to Sentinel did say it wasn't enough and Sentinel said he would get the rest. And now with Sentinel's demise, where will they get more? The Autobots seemingly control at least the mines (assuming all the cogless sided with them), so unless the Quints launch a full invasion to regain control of the mines and the miners, they won't have energon.#1 Signal Lancer fan wrote:As far as we know, the Quintessons still control the surface. But with the Matrix replenishing the entire planet at the end of the movie, the mines aren't even needed. So I guess the plot of the sequel could be the Bots and Cons either together or separately defending the planet against a Quint invasion and theft of the free-flowing energon.

They probably would launch a full invasion. Their initial attack on the Primes seemed like just the beginning of a full planetary conquest, but what stopped them from just storming Iacon and taking it over was Sentinel cutting a deal with them. They leave Iacon alone in exchange for his supplying them with energon, all so he could live a cozy life and lord above the other Cybertronians. But now that Sentinel's out of the picture, the deal would be off and the Quints would have nothing preventing them from now deciding to go on the full offensive to take Iacon and all its wealth and resources for themselves.Rodimus Prime wrote:Do they, though? In the shot where the Energon begins to flow, the "camera" zooms out to show that Energon is flowing across the surface of the planet, meaning that it is up for the Quintesson's taking.
Also, I didn't get the impression that it wasn't enough for the Quintessons, but moreso that Sentinel didn't meet his quotas. So it's not that the Quintesson's didn't have enough to get by, they just didn't get what they were promised.
The end of the movie does have Optimus saying "If the Quintessons ever return to Cybertron..." but I don't take that to mean that the fled. It's more likely that they took the Energon back to Quintessa and will be returning for more. There's no reason that the Quintessons would be scared of the Autobots or the Matrix when they fought and defeated the original Primes.

Given that the Energon was flowing freely when the Quintessons previously invaded, I could certainly see them coming back in force now that it's there for the taking again rather than needing to be laboriously mined up.
