So other than the paint, is MB-17 different to MB-11 in any way?
Accessories seem to be the same, face sculpt is the same, and even the articulated hands looks to be the same.

MB-11 uses the Asia exclusive Ultimate Optimus Prime as a base (for the weapons and hands along with the retooled body parts that originated with DotM Striker Optimus Prime) and bright colors, while MB-17 uses the original RotF Leader (with some Ultimate parts) as a base for Jetfire compatibility with darker colors and gimmicked sword arm replaced.
Basically it comes down to having different torso parts and different shades of paint between the two figures.

I see, thanks.
I could not see any apparent differences from the pictures. And accessories are the same. So even the articulated hands were the same to be able to hold the accessories.

Hey, for those that have MB-16 Jetfire, what are your thoughts? I'm not a big fan of the character, but that alt mode (from above) looks sweet.

So I got my war hammer Bee about a week ago, and he's a pretty good figure - flawed, but still good.
Starting off in vehicle mode, one of the biggest things that differentiates this Bee from the regular release is the shade of yellow used - it's much better looking and more screen accurate than the original. There are a few more paint apps in vehicle mode than the original, but not that many. That being said, the paint was a pretty easy fix.
What wasn't an easy fix (and something I'm still trying to figure out) is getting the secondary wings to line up in vehicle mode. Whenever I transform him either one or both of them will leave a gap that I'm not sure how to fix. I'm not sure if this issue applied to the original TLK Bee or not. Is there a way to keep it from doing this?
Robot mode looks really good! The way the legs transform is a cool innovation - and the way the figure pulls it off is one of the areas that I feel is better than the studio series. Paint work again needed some help, but another fairly easy fix. The plasma cannon is thankfully remolded to fit on his right arm, which is great, although the method of detaching and reattaching the arm/cannon is MUCH better on the studio series. The hammer is cool, and has a hinge so that it stores in vehicle mode looking like some kind of tank barrel.
Overall this figure is really good! Overall it's not as good as SS Bee (which had the advantage of learning from the mistakes of this mold), but it's still good. The feet aren't loose enough to be annoying, and none of the parts pop off except for the hands. When it comes to this figure compared to the standard deluxe, I guess it's situational. If you're not a big fan of Bee and you were able to find the wave 3 deluxe at retail, you might not need this one. In my case, however, as a fan of Bumblebee and having never seen the wave 3 deluxe in stores, this was totally worth it. Especially when online prices for the standard deluxe TLK Bee were only around $10 less than this one. For a great shade of yellow, better paint apps, a more accurate remolded plasma cannon and a hammer, this figure was totally worth it and a great addition to my collection.

Nice write up!
Do you have a picture of the hammer in alt mode? That is the one thing I haven't seen yet

I am glad you are excited D-Max, but remember that this guy shares the same transformation as Studio Series Bee. Him being bigger and having his back actually attached helps, so you are sure to like him more, but you'll see a lot of similarities.

How much will you hate me for telling you my Studio Bee is more solid and stable than either my Hasbro or Takara TLK Bees?

To be dead honest, I am just really happy for D-Max. He waited long enough and in the meantime really hated a toy sharing that same mold, that I am glad he will still get something he likes in the end.

Wanted to return to this thread to share this: Nemesis Prime is fantastically painted and suitably deranged looking. This captures a movie Nemesis perfectly, and I love the paint work. It makes this figure worth the $50 I spent on him recently

I think most of us thought Movie the Best, Takara Tomy's line of screen-accurate repaints and retools, had become obsolete thanks to Studio Series. Apparently Takara Tomy disagrees. Coming completely out of nowhere we're getting our first look at MB-EX Bumblebee from Age of Extinction thanks to a magazine scan posted by Weibo user Xiao Ming (爆料人小明). Based on the 2014 Deluxe class figure this repaint features an all-new claw weapon. Even though this is the first time we're seeing this he'll be coming out as a Toys 'R Us Japan exclusive in late March for 3,238 JPY.
Alongside Bee Japan will also be getting the well documented Studio Series repaint of The Last Knight Drift with baby Dinobots as an SS-EX release. He, too, will be a Toys 'R Us Japan exclusive priced at 4,318 JPY and also coming out in late March.

What do you think, is SS-EX Bumblebee worth tracking down or is the new part not worth buying the figure again? Sound off in the Energon Pub forums below!

The full name seems to be MB-EX Arm Gun Bumblebee. A bit odd, but it may be because the "straight redeco with new accessory" follows the Movie The Best philosophy more than the Studio Series' "new mold" one.

Is cool but my AoE Bumblebee already looks like that anyways (theirs is probably a bit cleaner than my paintjob) without that weapon which I don't care for anyways. And we're getting that Drift with the mini dinos so eh nothing special here but cool anyways.

I like this repaint, plus the gun accessory is cool. But... skip. I want to focus on MPs first.
BTW, found this on Robotkindom:

New pictures including in package are there. The 60$ cost isn't bad at all either.

AOE deluxe Bee is a bad mold. No amount of lipstick can make this pig look good.
That drift, however, rock this deco and the baby dinos are adorable.

Huh, that's interesting!
Bee's got a few more paint apps than the standard AOE Deluxe, but honestly not that many. It even looks like the stripe in vehicle mode doesn't continue on the back of the car - much like the AOE deluxe, which is still one of the most baffling paint omissions I've seen on a figure.
The right arm might actually be remolded from what I can tell, I don't see the mold's original plasma cannon in the arm. The new gun does look super cool, though.
The AOE Bee mold is pretty good, but I feel like this design will get a better studio series figure some time in the future.
