But even better, he presents the newly revealed SS86 Constructions, Scavenger and Bonecrusher. Many fans claim these are very similar to the combiner wars iterations so this video could shed some light on how different (or not) they are.

TBH, if I can't get/don't have Breakdown before or by the time the Constructicons start arriving I've got no incentive to even start getting them. I don't want to be left hanging at the end like I am with Menasor. Supposedly fixed or not, it just doesn't instill confidence. Outside of a repack/refresh I don't know how they possibly address it, release a alternate color? lol
The gray model does look pretty neat though! Looks to be sturdier than the last version as well.

Plus, it's still not known how well the combined mode will hold up with their leg joint system. If it turns out to be floppy and unstable like the PotP combiners...

So now the question is do I want to spend hundreds to replace it with a smaller figure? Probably not.

chuckdawg1999 wrote:I'm just not feeling the new Constructicons all that much. First, I don't like that there's very little difference between the size of Scavenger and Bonecrusher and neither fills the packaging at all. Second, I don't like the release format of two limbs with nothing to combine them too. Say what you will, but during Combiner Wars there was always the option to combine, even if it wasn't complete. Releasing an arm and a leg is too close to third party for my tastes. Unite Warriors, the ONLY version that should've been released, was an all-in-one package that just felt complete. I've always believed that Devastator was bigger than the other combiners, yes I know size is relative in Transformers and I really can't judge, but still. I'll buy these just because but I'm also hoping for the line to be canceled before all of them are released just to watch the world burn.
Agreed.

First up, got my Dinobots grouped up at last.

And from that group, I give you the good:

The bad:

And the Fugly:

Next up, I got SS86 Springer. First off, i regret that 2 weeks after I got him he was on Prime days sale. next up, I kinda regret this purchase too. He just doesn't feel worth the leader price, he doesn't feel different enough from my Wrecker Siege one to justify himself, and he also feels finnicky. But, I will keep him to go on my Skybound shelf.

At least his hammer can go with Siege Magnus

I also got Steeljaw. He is completely forgettable

I also got SS86 Ratchet for my Skybound shelf. He is good, partly because i love the character of Ratchet, and partly because the mold is pretty OK.

I also succceeded in finding SS86 Prime at Target for $71. Definitely a nice mold, though I don't really care about the trailer, his effects parts and axe are all a bit too rubbery for my liking, and I wish his head sculpt was more Skybound.

As for the new reveals, I am just going to wait on a Devastator repaint in the future to try out that combiner, CW still has me down good there.

And as usual true to form Scrapper sells out on Pulse, so I do preorder Bonecrusher anyway?
Then take a chance on restock, or try elsewhere for both. I'm honestly not keen on EE at the moment as I've already had a few fall through and I'm still waiting on Beachcomber and Frenzy. I get the feeling those will not every happen...
After finally getting to watch the stream, the Constructicons do look pretty good compared to the older ones I had as a kid.

Rodimus Prime wrote:Dang it, now I have to get that Galvatron mold AGAIN. That bluish purple looks so much better than the Kingdom and Legacy versions. I do have the Selects which I like, but I wish Hasbro would come out with the comic edition.
Now I wonder if we'll get Cyclonus again as well with slight deco tweaks.
I'm kind of feeling the same way about Galvatron... Don't get me wrong, I want this new version and it does look much better imo.
But considering we're talking the specific paint colors, it's a shame this deco wasn't used right off the bat. I sold off my previous Kingdom version a while ago, so I'm ready to have this character again.
I don't think we'll get another Cyclonus. For me, the original deco is pretty spot-on. The next version should be leader class since he should be taller than Galvatron. In fact, I truly wouldn't care if it was the exact same mold just made larger... So it would literally just be more plastic, but no new designing, retooling, etc. Hastak would still make plenty of profit from that situation.
I'm preordering two sets of these Constructicons. Yeah, there are issues, and it's pretty clear that the only way to get every aspect of every mode completely on point, each figure needed a leader class budget.
I don't blame anyone for skipping this, especially if you really only want this group of figures for the combined mode; the CW/UW Devy still does hold up, especially when scaled with mainline and SS86 figures.
For me, more of the pull of this new set is the individual bots... Again, I can already see things that slightly bug me, but they're still pretty good, and I have to believe that Long Haul will be exponentially better. I also plan on having these 6 displayed together as individual bots, with no other figures. So the fact that they're slightly too small won't be quite as noticeable.
There are two aspects of the new Devastator that are noticeably off to me-- the lower legs are too short. The back section of Scrapper (his lower legs) is too short. This isn't as easy to see if you just look at Mixmaster, but if these were even three-quarters of an inch taller, I think it would really help the overall proportions.
The other thing is that the chest plate is too low from the top of the torso... It's not too close to the waist, but if this were higher, those two gaps would basically be covered up.
I'm still happy with what we've seen. And I can't wait to see Hook and Long Haul!

But now I'm giving serious thought of keeping my Devastator and trading out my UW Constructicons for upcoming Series 86 wrecking crew!!!
I wonder if HasTak is considering a G2 repaint down the way?

Bonecrusher is on Amazon, and Scrapper is on Walmart.com.
I'm not at all trying to borrow trouble, but it's going to be very interesting to see how available these two are in a couple months or so... Of course things can change, but for the last three years, and we'll say the last two to be a bit further post-pandemic, I've never seen any titans or Commander class figures in-store. This is between multiple Targets and multiple Walmarts. And even with increased efforts to get Hook and Long Haul distributed well, CC releases are never going to be as plentiful as deluxes and voyagers. I really thought I'd see Motormaster back when he was released, specifically in a Target since I got my two copies from Target.com...
So really, no matter how distribution goes for these first two Constructicons, for those of us really wanting this set, I'd say the best bet is to be quick on the draw with preorders. Especially that CC release.

Perhaps. But the Kingdom figure is practically all lavender and no light blue, which he had in TF:TM. So if Hasbro wants true accuracy, there needs to be another version. Like they did with Scourge and the Sweep. Scourge wasn't really screen accurate either, the Sweep looks more like their on-screen version, so that's who I'm using as my movie Scourge. And Scourge is on the comic shelf with Selects Cyclonus.Sowndwave76 wrote:I don't think we'll get another Cyclonus.

The thing have been repainted twice and remolded/repainted twice already, making it 4 uses of the base mold. (If the Metalhawk reissue have some difference, make it 4.5). Repainting K. Cyclonus 2 or 3 more times is surely on

Yep that's the setup I have. The Selects Cyclonus and SS86 Scourge resemble more their toy decos, which is what the comic used, at least in their brief appearances in the US version (Headmasters and #67). Now if only the comic edition came out with the accurate Galvatron deco for the comics as well, we'd be in business. But I guess that discussion is for another thread...Sabrblade wrote:...Now you're making me wish I'd found a Scourge so I could do that too, with Selects Cyclonus and Selects Galvatron.Rodimus Prime wrote:Scourge wasn't really screen accurate either, the Sweep looks more like their on-screen version, so that's who I'm using as my movie Scourge. I don't anyone thinks that could happen... There may be some overlap between the 3 waves, but unless these figures are being ridiculously over-produced, I don't see any way someone would find all 6 in a store; that would require some crazy fluke. My point was that it's probably a moderate risk to wait and see if these show up in-store. And I personally wouldn't wait to see if any go on sale; it could be relatively annoying to end up not being able to get ahold of 1-2 of them.chuckdawg1999 wrote:Certainly no one should expect finding all six at retail at the same time.
I'd hope more preorders would happen even before the new year. But if you meant "re-packed" when you said "second runs", I would never bank on that... We're not talking just 2, 3, 4, or even 5 figures... Especially with a CC set in this mix. Unless there is some major distribution issue for a couple of these figures and it's a truly wide-spread problem (not just for a specific region), repacking all 6 seems highly unlikely. I don't at all mind if I end up being wrong about this, but I'm predicting once these figures have been released and are gone next year, I wouldn't expect to see them again until some exclusive giftset is made.-Kanrabat- wrote:It is impossible thatwill make a limited run of the 86 Constructicons. Agreed... His main color is more in the range of blue than what we got with the Kingdom version. The color of the figure in the gallery shot is even more blue than what he looks in person. A variation of "lavender" is a pretty good descriptor of the Kingdom figure's main color.Sabrblade wrote:I'll be fine if we don't get another Cyclonus, but yeah the Kingdom one could stand to be a little bluer. If Hastak is wanting to repaint this figure to be more accurate, I really wish they'd take the Kingdom mold and just upsize it, throw in a few blast effects and maybe even his target master (even though this wasn't in the movie), and release him as a leader class figure so he's taller than Galvatron. This may be considered a new mold, but the design and engineering work would already be done... And I'd assume the $55 price tag would have this make plenty of profit even though the figure would require more plastic and just slightly longer pins.

I'll admit, with the return of the window box for 86 I'll definitely be temped to get a reissue/redeco of Cyclonus! I would of course depend on said deco, but to be able to have him MIB next to Scourge would be very nice.
I'd also welcome Rodimus if he were to be packed w/o trailer as a Leader Class or possibly even Voyager release in 86. Not sure how it would cost out sans trailer, but if it were a leader they could always pack in Daniel w/hover board etc. to add value for the price.

But yeah, I can remember GS was usually the place to get things earlier than others. But once they delayed Sludge for several weeks/months I decided that was my last preorder with them, I already had bad experience with two other places and with EE still not shipped Frenzy and Beachcomber I'm quite unimpressed to thoroughly displeased. It's gotten to the point that if I can't get it from pulse I may not eve get it. Amazon can be okay but can also sell out quickly if it's a popular item due to sheer volume of customers.

Sorry to hear this. Gamestop Canada is exactly the opposite when it comes to such matters. They must use the same ordering and fulfillment system so not sure what the issue is. Distribution is the only difference.

Target supply is so inconsistent... I get gift cards from work as a health incentive (I've been using them to pay for all of my Titans and Commanders over the last three years outright). I can get a Target gift card, but not BBTS. Normally I go with Amazon, but I had GameStop Pro membership and $15 in rewards through that so I was saving twice over, that's the only reason I decided to go with GameStop.

Funny thing is there was a part of the email that said, "If you would like to complete your purchase, please attempt a different form of payment" except there's no such option, they just cut me off automatically. They did give me back my reward points, though they're only giving me until the end of the year to use them online.

I'm wondering what's gone on with SS86 Optimus in terms of production/distribution... There was a decent amount of "official" word that Hastak was going to work to make sure this figure was readily available. Imo, this hasn't happened. And this is me being objective-- I got my copy; so this isn't stemming from a place of bitterness or frustration from disappointment.
I've seen a couple listings online, but both were for $130+, and one of them was $152 before taxes.
Hopefully Hastak is on this and is looking to get more copies out there asap; not only would this be a good move right before Christmas, it that's not the plan, early '25 would be good as well.
I'm also ready to see the next two Constructicons. Tbh, these first two aren't as good as what I was expecting. So I'm hoping the other 4 help improve the overall set.
Lastly, in just over a month and a half Amazon is supposed to be delivering my SS86 Galvatron. Looking forward to this figure and an improved color scheme.
